Visa exemption for social visits

Under the Malaysia–China mutual visa-exemption agreement in force from 17 July 2025, PRC citizens holding a valid ordinary passport may visit Malaysia without a visa for a qualifying social visit, including tourism, business or family visits, for up to 30 days per entry. The maximum cumulative stay is 90 days in any 180-day period. The passport must be valid for at least six months.

Submit the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card

Complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online through the Immigration Department's official portal before arrival. The current official guidance says to submit it within three days before the arrival date. Use the official service and keep the submission confirmation.

When to check another visa route

This exemption is for eligible social visits. Do not use it as permission to work, study or remain beyond the permitted stay. Multiple-entry visa applications and other passport types have separate rules. Check the Immigration Department or a Malaysian mission if your trip does not fit the exemption.

Before departure

  • Confirm the passport is an ordinary PRC passport with at least six months' validity.
  • Count total days in Malaysia across the relevant 180-day period.
  • Submit the MDAC on the official Immigration portal before arrival.
  • Carry evidence of the visit purpose and onward travel if requested by the carrier or immigration officer.
