A visitor visa is required

PRC ordinary passport holders are not on the U.S. Visa Waiver Program country list and generally need an appropriate U.S. visitor visa, commonly B1/B2 for temporary business or tourism. A visa does not guarantee admission; U.S. Customs and Border Protection makes the admission decision at the port of entry.

Check EVUS if your visa is 10-year B1/B2

Chinese nationals travelling with a 10-year B1, B2 or B1/B2 visa must enroll in the Electronic Visa Update System (EVUS) before travel. EVUS is a separate update/enrollment requirement, not a visa. Check that the enrollment remains valid for the passport and visa used on this trip.

Before departure

  • Confirm that your visa class matches your planned activity and dates.
  • Complete EVUS if you hold a qualifying 10-year B1/B2 visa in a PRC passport.
  • Use the official EVUS website and review the latest U.S. government instructions.
  • Check airline document requirements and carry the passport associated with the visa.
