British Airways Lounges: Programme Profile
British Airways lounge access is a benefit of The British Airways Club, the programme renamed from the British Airways Executive Club with effect from 1 April 2025. [4] The Club's terms and conditions state that lounges are available only to Silver and Gold members and their guests as set out on Ba.com, and that further provisions about lounge use are published on Ba.com and incorporated into the terms. [4]

Key takeaways
- In the Club terms, lounge access is tied to tier rather than to cabin: the lounge clause names Silver and Gold members and their guests, as set out on Ba.com. [4]
- A member must produce a membership card and/or a boarding card or ticket showing the membership number and tier before being admitted. [4]
- Lounge eligibility as a membership benefit lasts until the expiry date of the current membership, and benefits already applied to a booking may change if the member's tier changes before travel. [4]
- The terms distinguish lounges provided by British Airways from services provided by service partners, and partner services are governed by the partner's own terms. [4]
Who the Club terms admit
The British Airways Club terms and conditions contain a dedicated lounge clause. It provides that lounges are available only to Silver and Gold members and their guests as set out on Ba.com. [4] The definitions section of the same document describes a lounge simply as an airport lounge provided for certain members. [4] The lounge clause names Silver and Gold members only. [4]
The terms do not state how many guests a Silver or Gold member may bring, whether the guest allowance differs between the two tiers, or whether a guest must be travelling on the same booking as the member. The clause defers the guest position to Ba.com. [4] Membership cards themselves are issued according to tier points, lifetime tier points or eligible flights, and British Airways may change the thresholds while informing members in advance. [4]
Entry documents, age and conduct
Before admission, a member must produce their membership card and/or a boarding card or ticket on which the membership number and tier are clearly visible. [4] The terms warn that failing to produce either of these items may result in the member not being invited into the lounge. [4] Anyone under 18 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult when using a lounge, and local laws on the consumption of alcohol apply. [4]
Lounge conduct also sits inside the programme's definition of misconduct, which lists misconduct in a lounge alongside misconduct on board a British Airways or airline partner flight or while checking in. [4] Members are also expected to give their membership number on bookings and to produce the card when British Airways or a service partner asks for it while travelling or using services. [4]
Validity and tier changes
The terms treat lounge eligibility as one of several membership benefits, alongside seat selection and baggage allowance, that are valid until the expiry date of the current membership. [4] The same clause notes that membership benefits previously applied to a booking may vary if the member's tier changes before they travel. [4] Tier itself is reviewed at the end of each tier point collection year, defined as the 12-month period starting on 1 April and ending on 31 March, or from the date of joining through to 31 March for members who join later. [4]
BA-operated and partner lounges
British Airways states that some services, such as certain lounges, are provided by British Airways itself, while others are provided by service partners. [4] For partner-provided services, British Airways says it will use reasonable endeavours to ensure availability but will not be liable for loss arising from a partner's failure to provide the service, except where the failure is caused by British Airways. [4]
Use of a partner service is conditional on the member giving their full name and membership number when booking and, where appropriate, producing the membership card and any additional information the partner requires. [4] Where a member uses services that British Airways does not provide, the service partner's own terms apply, including on bookings and ticketing, and British Airways states it will not be liable for any loss in that situation. [4]
Exceptions and limits
- Cabin-based eligibility is not set out. The Club terms checked do not state which travel cabins carry lounge access, nor how access interacts with a Reward Flight cabin. The lounge clause refers only to Silver and Gold members and their guests. [4]
- Lounge locations, opening hours and guest numbers are not set out. Clause 10.3 states that further provisions about the use of lounges are published on Ba.com and incorporated into the terms, so those details sit outside the text checked here. [4]
- No separate alliance-based rule appears in the terms. Although the definitions use the term "marketing partners" for oneworld member airlines and other selected companies, the lounge clause does not create a separate alliance lounge entitlement; access is expressed as a Silver and Gold membership benefit as set out on Ba.com. [4]
- Partner lounges are governed elsewhere. Where a lounge is provided by a service partner, the partner's terms apply to that service rather than the Club terms alone. [4]
- Timing matters. A tier change between booking and travel can alter the benefits attached to that booking. [4]
