How to check airport lounge access before you travel

A status card or premium ticket alone does not prove that a particular lounge will admit you. Check the airline, operating carrier, departure and lounge-specific conditions.

Identify the access source

Access may come from the cabin on your ticket, an airline or alliance tier, a lounge membership, a credit card or a paid pass. A benefit under one route does not automatically apply to another route or lounge network.

Match it to the flight

Check the travel date, departure airport, terminal, operating carrier and whether the lounge is available to passengers on that flight. For alliance status, confirm the airline and flight qualify under the alliance’s current rules.

Read the guest and time rules

Confirm whether you may bring a guest, whether the guest must travel on an eligible flight, and whether children count as guests. Check opening hours, departure-only restrictions, capacity limits and whether arrival access is allowed.

An alliance example

Star Alliance Gold lists lounge access for eligible travellers and a guest travelling on a Star Alliance flight that day. Individual lounges and itineraries can have additional conditions, so verify the exact lounge before you go.
