Hertz Gold+: tiers, rental points and reward days

Hertz Gold+ combines a no-fee membership, rental points and service tiers. The US rules distinguish qualifying base rate from taxes and extras, and benefits depend on location.

Membership and tiers

Hertz says Gold+ membership is free in listed countries. In the US-market programme, Gold is the base tier; Five Star and President’s Circle are higher tiers. Five Star and President’s Circle use rental-count or qualifying-spend routes in the US programme. Check the current official table for market-specific thresholds and the qualification year. Status is valid for the rest of the year in which it is earned and all of the next calendar year.

What earns Gold+ points

The current US FAQ lists points on qualifying base rental rate, with higher earn rates by status tier. Check the current official table for the exact rate and market conditions. Taxes, fees and optional products are excluded. Some franchise locations participate in point earning and redemption; some may offer earning only. Check the pickup location.

Service benefits and limits

Gold+ lists members-only prices, faster pickup at select locations, vehicle choice at participating sites and partner offers. Five Star may offer an upgrade subject to availability. President’s Circle lists a guaranteed one-class upgrade at participating locations, subject to stated vehicle and rate exclusions. A card tier does not guarantee that a preferred model will be available.

Using points

Points can be redeemed through Hertz.com or the app toward eligible base rental rate. Taxes, fees and optional add-ons remain payable. Redemptions require advance booking; peak reward periods can require more points. Gold+ members choose either Hertz points or an external partner reward for each rental, not both.

Expiry and account activity

Hertz states that standard points have a five-year earning-date expiry in the US, with a different rule for Canadian residents. In addition, points are removed after twelve consecutive months without completed rental activity. A reservation, family-point transfer or a points redemption that has not yet become a completed rental does not necessarily count as rental activity. Promotional points may have an earlier date.
