How to earn Avios and Qpoints with Qatar partners
Qatar Airways Privilege Club is the loyalty programme of Qatar Airways, and it credits Avios on flights with Qatar Airways, oneworld member airlines and the airline partners Qatar lists, at the rate shown in the programme's own earn chart. [1] Qpoints are a separate currency: Avios can be pooled through a family group, but group members' activity does not earn Qpoints. [6]
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- Avios is collected when you, or family members you have nominated, travel with Qatar Airways, oneworld airlines or airline partners, and with more than 100 global partners outside flying. [1]
- Every earn or spend extends the whole Avios balance for a further 36 months. [1]
- Qpoints sit apart from Avios: in a Family & Friends group, members' flight and non-flight activity earns Avios for the Main Member but does not earn Qpoints. [6]
- Qatar links an earn chart from its Earn Avios page, and that chart is the reference for what a flight credits. [1]
How do you earn Avios on partner flights?
Avios is described by Qatar as the reward currency members collect when they, or family members they have nominated, travel with Qatar Airways, oneworld airlines or the airline partners of Privilege Club. [1] The same currency is earned with more than 100 global partners beyond flying. [1]
How much a flight credits is set by the earn chart Qatar links from its Earn Avios page, which covers flights with Qatar Airways, oneworld airlines and airline partners. [1] The same page also lists a published Avios rate for Qatar Executive. [1]
Balances have a rolling life: each time a member earns or spends, the balance is valid for a further 36 months. [1] Privilege Club Avios are issued, redeemed and expire under the Privilege Club terms and conditions. [7]
Ground earning follows the same account. The programme's partner categories cover banks and finance, hotels, car rental, and retail and lifestyle. [1] Members can also link a Privilege Club account to an Accor account to collect both Avios and Accor reward points when flying with Qatar Airways or staying at participating Accor hotels. [1]
Which airlines count as Qatar partners?
oneworld is the alliance behind most partner earning. It lists 16 member airlines — Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Fiji Airways, Finnair, Hawaiian Airlines, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Oman Air, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, Royal Air Maroc and SriLankan Airlines — and states that it has no standalone frequent flyer programme of its own. [3] A traveller's earning and tier recognition come from the programme of the member airline they joined. [3]
Qatar's Earn Avios page names Hawaiian Airlines, Fiji Airways, Finnair, Cathay Pacific, British Airways and Qantas among the oneworld airlines on which members collect Avios. [1]
Outside the alliance, the same page lists Airlink, Philippine Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Virgin Australia, Garuda Indonesia and LATAM Airlines as airline partners. [1] Flights are only one route into the balance: hotels, car rental and financial partners credit the same Avios account. [1]
Do partner flights earn Qpoints as well?
Privilege Club runs two counters, and they behave differently. Qpoints are earned by a Main Member in their own right: an adult who leaves a Family & Friends group and signs up individually can then start earning Avios and Qpoints as a Main Member. [6]
Inside a Family & Friends group the two part company. Group members earn Avios through Qatar Airways and its partners, and those Avios are added to the Main Member's account only after the flight is completed. [6] The programme states that flight and non-flight activities by group members do not earn Qpoints. [6] A flight that credits Avios to a pooled balance therefore does not, on that basis alone, credit Qpoints. [6]
How do you claim missing Avios?
Missing credit is raised through Claim missing Avios, one of the options Qatar lists under its Collect menu and again among its other ways to earn. [1] It helps to know the expected amount first: the earn chart linked from the Earn Avios page is the reference for what the flight should have credited. [1]
Some apparent gaps are simply timing. Where a Family & Friends group member is the one flying, Avios reach the Main Member's account only once travel is completed. [6]
Exceptions and limits
- Pooling goes one way. A Main Member can nominate up to nine people into a Family & Friends group, and all Avios the group collects are pooled into the Main Member's account. [6] Each new group member is locked in for six months. [6] The Main Member's account must be at least 30 days old before invitations can be sent. [6]
- Base Avios only. Group members earn base Avios for eligible activity and do not receive additional or bonus Avios tied to the Main Member's tier. [6]
- Linking to British Airways Executive Club. Both accounts must exist, the personal details on each — first name, last name, date of birth and email address — must match, and the member must be at least 18. [7] The feature is available 30 days after account creation, only one Privilege Club and one Executive Club account can be linked at a time, and a Privilege Club account can be linked at most twice in any 50-year period. [7] Once linked, Avios move in either direction at 1:1, with no fee, no minimum or maximum and no limit on the number of movements, credited immediately. [7] Only the Main Member of a Privilege Club Family Programme can move Avios to their Executive Club account. [7] These terms are effective as at 29 January 2025. [7]
- No cash value. Avios do not have a fixed or par value and are not redeemable for cash. [7] Cash + Avios lets members use Avios to save up to 50 per cent of the cash amount on flight tickets purchasable with Qatar Airways. [7]
Frequently asked questions
Does every oneworld flight earn Avios?
oneworld says your points add up every time you book and fly with a member airline, and that each eligible trip counts towards your next tier status. [3] On the Qatar side, the rate a flight credits comes from the earn chart linked on the Earn Avios page. [1]
Do partner flights earn Qpoints as well as Avios?
Not automatically from the Avios side. Within a Family & Friends group, flight and non-flight activity by group members earns Avios into the Main Member's account but does not earn Qpoints. [6]
How long do Qatar Avios last?
Each earn or spend extends the balance for a further 36 months. [1] Privilege Club Avios expire under the Privilege Club terms and conditions. [7]
Can I move Avios between Qatar Airways and British Airways?
Yes, once the accounts are linked: movements run 1:1 in either direction with no fee and no minimum or maximum. [7] Linking requires matching personal details on both accounts and a minimum age of 18. [7]
Where do I report a missing partner flight?
Use Claim missing Avios, listed under Collect on Qatar's Privilege Club pages. [1]
