GUIDE
How to Redeem Citi ThankYou Rewards
This guide covers redemption of ThankYou Rewards points on eligible U.S. Citi cards, including the cash, travel, gift-card and partner-transfer routes a cardholder would look for.
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
Both sources are airline loyalty programme pages. Singapore Airlines presents KrisFlyer as the rewards programme of the Singapore Airlines Group, in which members earn miles when flying and with everyday partners and redeem them for flights, upgrades and partner spending. [6] Emirates presents Skywards as the loyalty programme of Emirates and flydubai, with four membership tiers running from Blue to Platinum. [7]
Neither page is a card programme agreement, and neither sets out terms for ThankYou Rewards or for any bank points currency: no cash-out value, no travel booking rate, no gift-card list and no partner transfer table appears on them. [6] [7] What the pages do show is the shape of redemption on the airline side, which is where a transferred point ends up once it has become airline miles.
Redemption inside the two airline programmes checked
KrisFlyer. The programme says miles can be used for flights, upgrades and experiences, or to save on travel, shopping and dining. [6] On Singapore Airlines itself, miles can redeem flights, upgrade cabin class, or offset the cost of a flight ticket and travel add-ons. [6] On Scoot, miles can offset the cost of flights, seat selection and additional baggage allowance. [6] Through the group's partners Kris+, KrisShop and Pelago, miles can be used against dining, retail, attractions and wellness spending. [6] Elite miles are a separate currency from KrisFlyer miles and track progress towards KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards and the Elite Silver and Elite Gold tiers. [6]
Skywards. The programme names reward flights, upgrades, flights with flydubai and partner airlines, hotel stays and tickets to sporting and cultural events as ways to spend miles. [7] Skywards Miles are earned alongside Tier Miles on Emirates and flydubai flights, can be earned with partners, and can also be bought, gifted or multiplied. [7] The page states that Skywards Miles are valid for three years. [7]
Limits and what is not covered
- Airline rules stay with the airline. The three-year validity stated for Skywards Miles applies to Emirates' own currency and says nothing about how long ThankYou points last or how they may be spent. [7]
- Conversion, not a card transfer. The KrisFlyer page converts KrisPay miles into KrisFlyer miles at 1 KrisPay mile to 1 KrisFlyer mile within 21 days of the earn transaction; that is a conversion between two Singapore Airlines Group currencies, not a rule for moving points out of a bank programme. [6]
- Figures quoted in local currency. Some KrisFlyer earning examples are stated in Singapore dollars and tied to named partners, including KrisFlyer miles at KrisShop, Elite miles, and PPS Value. [6]
- Time-limited promotions. The KrisFlyer page also lists promotions with stated windows, such as a Royal Caribbean offer from 1 to 31 October 2026 and a Shinsegae Duty Free offer from 1 October to 30 November 2026; these are campaign terms, not standing redemption rules. [6]
- Conditional tier route. Emirates says Tier Miles can also be earned through a co-branded card, and that this Tier Miles offer is currently available for select Emirates Skywards co-branded cards in the USA. [7]
- For ThankYou Rewards, no statement credit or cash-out rate, no travel booking value, no gift-card catalogue, no transfer partner list, no transfer ratio and no transfer time is described in either source, and card tiers and eligibility are not covered. [6] [7]
