COURSE
Start here: Strawberry membership — join, earn and use Spenn, and move up the four levels
Strawberry membership is the loyalty programme of Strawberry Services AS, in which members earn Spenn and can move through four levels [1]. This course takes a new member through joining, earning, using Spenn and the member period in six short steps, ending with one first action [1].
Facts checked: 19 October 2026
Key takeaways
- Membership is personal, open to people over 18, and voluntary [1].
- The basic earning rule is 3 Spenn per 10 kr or EUR 1 on rooms and breakfast included in the price code, with Gold and Platinum Tier Booster totals set out in the benefits list [1].
- Silver requires 5 qualifying nights in a member period, Gold 30 and Platinum 60 [1].
- Strawberry may change the terms without prior notice, and changes published on the website take effect 14 days later unless otherwise stipulated; the Norwegian version prevails in a discrepancy [1] [2].
What you will be able to do after this course
- Explain what Strawberry membership is and which traveller it fits.
- Join, find your membership number and keep your contact and payment details in order.
- Recognise which stays earn Spenn, which do not, and how the basic rate and Tier Booster are printed.
- Use Spenn for an eligible booking and know what happens to Spenn if membership is cancelled.
- Read the four levels, the qualifying-night thresholds and the headline benefits, then take a first concrete action.
Step 1: What Strawberry membership is and who it suits
You will learn: what the membership agreement covers, who it is with, and which rules a new member should know before joining.
These membership terms apply to all members from 28.05.2026 and replace earlier membership terms on that date [1]. They are an agreement between the individual member and Strawberry, within Strawberry Services AS [1]. Members must tell the hotel or partner that they are members to receive Spenn and benefits [1]. Strawberry may exclude a member and remove Spenn for misuse of membership, Spenn or benefits, for criminal, unethical or immoral acts, or for disrespectful or unwanted behaviour towards hotels, employees or partners; the list is not exhaustive [1].
Where a member expects to earn Spenn on accommodation paid by an employer, the member must obtain the employer's consent in advance and is responsible for taxes and fees; private use of Spenn earned through work may be taxable in some jurisdictions, such as Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark [1]. Strawberry may terminate the loyalty programme with six months' notice to members, except where discontinuation is due to national legislation, a court decision or a public-authority prohibition [1]. Changes are published on the website and take effect 14 days after publication unless otherwise stipulated, and members must keep informed; where a change requires legal consent, Strawberry asks members and may terminate the membership of those who do not consent [1]. Strawberry is liable for financial loss only where it has been negligent; the agreement may be transferred to another company that continues the members club; Norwegian law applies; the Norwegian language version prevails in a discrepancy [1] [2].
Strawberry membership suits people who stay at Strawberry hotels and book their own stays directly, because Spenn are earned only on the member's own stays and OTA bookings are excluded from earning and benefits [1].

Step 2: How to join
You will learn: who can join, how membership is confirmed, and how to cancel.
Membership is personal, only for people over 18, and benefits cannot be used by anyone other than the member [1]. At sign-up the member must accept the membership terms to receive information and offers from Strawberry and partners, and may receive information by email, phone, text message and other digital channels [1]. Membership is confirmed by text message and/or email, and each member has a unique membership number visible when logged in on the website or app [1].
Members may register one or several payment cards to their profile and can change communication preferences and administer membership on My Page on the app or website, or by contacting Customer Service [1]. You cannot be a member without earning Spenn, and membership cannot be transferred [1]. Membership is voluntary and can be cancelled at any time in writing via My Page, [email protected], or post to Strawberry Customer Service, Postboks 2454, NO-0201 Oslo, Norway; cancellation takes effect when Strawberry receives it, and all earned Spenn are removed [1].

Step 3: How earning Spenn works
You will learn: the basic earning rate, who receives Spenn on a booking, and which purchases do not earn.
Spenn has been the bonus-point type since 19 November 2024, and all previous point types ended by 1 January 2026 [1]. The Spenn Group AS administers the accounts, currency management, transaction overviews and balances, and its terms apply until a member chooses to create an account with Spenn [1]. Members earn only on their own stays and transactions, whoever pays, and cannot earn for another person's stay apart from Spenn Together [1]. The amount is based on the currency linked to the member through the Spenn Group and the amount paid in local currency at Strawberry [1].
The basic rule is 3 Spenn per 10 kr or EUR 1, printed as 30 % Spenn for the amount, for rooms and breakfast included in the price code; different calculation methods may apply for special rates [1]. Tier boosters, double Spenn and extra Spenn are based on the basic rate [1]. Gold members earn a total of 5 Spenn (3 base and 2 booster) per NOK 10 or EUR 1 on eligible stays, and Platinum members a total of 6 Spenn (3 base and 3 booster) [1].
The English Silver item 6.5 prints a Tier Booster “as a Platinum member” worth a total of 6 Spenn (3 base points and 3 booster points) per NOK 10 or EUR 1, the same wording as English Platinum item 8.8 [1]. Norwegian Silver item 6.5 prints a total of 4 Spenn for a Silver member (3 base points and 1 booster) per 10 kr or EUR 1 for stays that earn Spenn [2]. The English and Norwegian terms both state that the Norwegian version prevails and is the sole governing version in a discrepancy [1] [2].
No Spenn are allocated when Spenn is used as payment, for product gift cards without a specified value, for hidden prices such as third-party bookings where the price is not provided to guests, for OTA bookings including Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Booking.com, Orbitz.com, CheapTickets.com and Priceline.com, for no-shows, for payment for events and group bookings (weddings, dinners and so on), although overnight stays still earn, for crew prices, or for complimentary rooms [1]. Spenn cannot be combined with partner points [1]. For multi-member bookings the lead guest receives the Spenn [1]. Missing purchases can be registered up to six months after the transaction, only if the purchase qualified then and was after membership began, and incorrectly earned Spenn can be deleted [1].

Step 4: How to use Spenn
You will learn: when Spenn can be used, when they are deducted, and what cancellation does to them.
Redeeming Spenn requires an active membership [1]. Spenn can be used as full or partial payment when booking rooms for specific price codes, and Spenn are deducted at the time of booking [1]. The option can be extended to other products or price codes during certain periods and campaigns [1]. Products paid for fully or partly with Spenn may have specific cancellation terms [1]. The validity period for Spenn is set in The Spenn Group's terms and conditions, which this course does not cover [1]. Cancelling membership on any grounds removes all earned Spenn, and the member can no longer use them [1].

Step 5: Levels and the member period
You will learn: how the member period works, the qualifying-night thresholds, and the headline benefits of each level.
The programme has four levels: Blue, Silver, Gold and Platinum [1]. A membership period lasts 12 months from the month the member registered [1]. During the period a member can qualify for a higher level; promotion takes effect immediately and is retained for the next member period, while the calculation of qualifying purchases resets to zero at the end of the member period [1]. Qualifying purchases equal qualifying nights, and only the member's own stays qualify [1]. The following do not qualify: gift cards for specific products without a specified value, no-shows, crew prices, complimentary rooms, and overnight stays booked through online travel agencies [1].
Silver requires 5 qualifying nights, Gold 30 and Platinum 60 in a member period [1]. Lifetime Gold requires 8 qualifying periods with Gold membership or higher and Lifetime Platinum requires 8 qualifying periods with Platinum membership, counted from membership periods where the level was reached through personal transactions, not status matches, invitations, freezes or similar; Lifetime levels are retained as long as the member does not terminate membership [1].
- Blue includes early access, Monday Breakfast (book breakfast for two and pay for one, for one member and a guest), one cup of regular tea or coffee per day including a refill, subject to availability, not barista coffee and not combinable with other offers, member rates, and, for overnight stays, a restaurant voucher at Clarion Hotel, Quality Hotel and most independent hotels, not at Comfort Hotel, Home Hotel, hotels without a restaurant or with a third-party restaurant [1].
- Silver includes all Blue benefits, late cancellation until 6pm on the arrival day for bookings with standard cancellation terms, a larger restaurant voucher, and 2pm late check-out subject to availability and arranged with reception by the day before departure [1].
- Gold includes all Blue and Silver benefits, a guaranteed room at the destination when booking at least 48 hours before arrival via customer service at standard rates (exceptions in certain periods and destinations; customer service must be open and confirm in time; not with contract prices or other discounts), and, subject to availability, early check-in, 3pm late check-out arranged with reception by the day before departure, upgrades on arrival and 2-for-1 spa entry requested at booking where advance booking is possible; Freeze level is possible once every five years, only if the previous period's level came from qualifying purchases, not a status match, invitation or freeze [1].
- Platinum includes all Blue, Silver and Gold benefits, free mineral water or soft drink, a guaranteed room when booking at least 24 hours before arrival via customer service at standard rates (exceptions in certain periods and destinations; other terms as for Gold), 4pm late check-out subject to availability and arranged with reception by the day before departure, gym entry at chain hotels with a gym even without an overnight stay, not at gyms that offer subscriptions or personal memberships, and Give away Gold, applied for on the website once per membership period for another Strawberry member, who keeps the upgrade for the current membership period [1].
For shared rooms, the main guest receives the available level benefits; benefits during a stay follow the tier held at check-in; membership benefits do not apply to stays booked through OTAs [1]. The attachment excludes certain benefits at Comfort Hotel Xpress, the apartments at Comfort Hotel Solna, Stopover and Sommerro as printed [1]. In the English Gold list, two items are numbered 7.3 and there is no 7.2, while English Platinum item 8.4 refers to “Section 7.2” for other terms [1]; the Norwegian Gold list numbers the guaranteed-room item 7.2 [2].

Step 6: Your first concrete action
You will learn: a five-part checklist that turns the rules into one first action.
- Join if you are over 18 and note your membership number in the app or on the website; start from the official English member terms and conditions or the Norwegian version, which prevails [1] [2].
- Book your own stays directly, not through online travel agencies, and tell the hotel you are a member [1].
- Register any missing stay within six months of the transaction if it qualified at the time [1].
- Count qualifying nights against 5, 30 or 60 in your 12-month member period [1].
- Before cancelling membership, use your Spenn, because cancellation removes them, and check The Spenn Group's terms for how long Spenn stay valid [1].
