PROGRAMME PROFILE

Qantas Lounges: Programme Profile

Qantas lounges are the pre-flight lounges Qantas runs under its own brand — Qantas Clubs, Business and First lounges and Regional Lounges — together with the partner lounges Qantas lists as available to eligible travellers. Qantas says access is based on the class of travel, Qantas Frequent Flyer membership tier, or Qantas Club, oneworld or Emirates membership status, and that a Complimentary Lounge Invitation, a single-visit Qantas Lounge Pass where available, or Qantas Club membership are also ways in. [1]

Facts checked: 18 October 2026

Key takeaways

  • Qantas publishes four families of access route: class of travel, Qantas Frequent Flyer membership tier, Qantas Club, oneworld or Emirates membership status, and invitations, single-visit passes or Qantas Club membership. [1]
  • A Qantas-branded lounge and a non-Qantas-branded partner lounge are governed by different rules: Qantas sets entry terms for its own lounges, while partner lounges apply the operator's eligibility and entry requirements. [1]
  • The wider oneworld network of more than 650 lounges is published for Platinum and Gold members (equivalent to oneworld Emerald and Sapphire) and for travellers in a First or Business cabin on a oneworld member airline, subject to conditions on the marketing and operating carrier. [1]
  • Lifetime Gold is described as including global lounge privileges with access to over 600 Qantas and partner lounges; Lifetime Platinum adds access to Qantas International First and Domestic Business Lounges. [5]

How access is earned

Qantas lists the class of travel, Qantas Frequent Flyer membership tier, and Qantas Club, oneworld or Emirates membership status as the bases for lounge access. [1] The same page adds three further routes: a Complimentary Lounge Invitation, buying a single-visit Qantas Lounge Pass "if available", and joining the Qantas Club. [1] For the membership routes in general, see the comparison of airline lounge memberships.

Qantas links its tier route to oneworld: Platinum and Gold Frequent Flyer members, equivalent to oneworld Emerald and Sapphire, can use more than 650 airport lounges worldwide, and so can travellers booked in a First or Business cabin on any oneworld member airline, excluding oneworld connect partners. [1] That entitlement requires the traveller to be departing on a flight that is both marketed and operated by a oneworld member airline. [1] Qantas publishes the tier-to-alliance mapping as Silver for oneworld Ruby, Gold for Sapphire, and Platinum and Platinum One for Emerald. [3] The separate alliance rules are set out on the oneworld lounge access page.

Qantas Clubs, Business Lounges and partner arrangements

Qantas's own lounge pages name the Qantas Club, International Business Lounges, First lounges and Regional Lounges as parts of the network, alongside "a large selection of Qantas and partner lounges worldwide". [1] Qantas says many of its lounges are undergoing changes as it invests in the network, so the accessible lounge at a given port can change. [1] The Sydney International Business Lounge is being rebuilt for completion in early 2027 and has moved to a temporary space near gate 24, where travellers may be reaccommodated in an alternative lounge at peak periods; the Hobart Qantas Club is temporarily closed during terminal redevelopment, with light refreshments near gates 8 and 9. [1] Qantas also reports the completion of its Regional Lounge refresh following the August 2026 reopening of the Emerald Regional Lounge, and refreshed or newly opened lounges in Los Angeles and Auckland. [1]

Published facilities include free Wi-Fi in all Qantas lounges, Aesop amenities in First lounge shower suites and bathrooms, Grown Alchemist products in Business lounge shower suites and bathrooms, and a smart casual dress code that includes appropriate footwear. [1] The Sydney Qantas Club also houses a LEGO Joey Club zone designed for ages 18 months and above. [1]

Partner arrangements sit on a different footing from Qantas-branded lounges: Qantas states that entry to non-Qantas-branded lounges is subject to the operators' eligibility and entry requirements. [1] A Qantas entitlement to its own lounges therefore does not by itself establish the terms of entry at a partner lounge. [1]

Status, lifetime status and the 2026–2027 changes

Qantas Frequent Flyer tier is earned through Status Credits on eligible Qantas, Jetstar, oneworld member and partner airline flights, and Status Credits reset at the start of each Membership Year. [3] Qantas publishes 300 Status Credits to attain Silver, 700 for Gold and 1,400 for Platinum, and for those three tiers the requirement includes four flights with a Qantas (QF) or Jetstar (JQ and GK) flight number on the ticket that earns Status Credits. The figures to keep those tiers are lower — 250 for Silver, 600 for Gold and 1,200 for Platinum — each carrying the same four-flight condition. Platinum One works differently: attainment requires 3,600 Status Credits including at least 2,700 on flights with a Qantas (QF) flight number on the ticket, and the same 3,600, including the same minimum of 2,700 on QF-numbered flights, is required to keep it. [3] Qantas says the retain targets for Silver, Gold and Platinum will change later in 2027 to 300, 700 and 1,400 respectively, while the attain targets are not changing, and that no change is being made to the number of Status Credits needed to retain Platinum One. [2] From 8 December 2026 members can also earn up to 140 Status Credits a Membership Year from eligible ground spend, which Qantas says will count towards Lifetime Status. [2] [4]

Lifetime status is reached at 7,000 Status Credits for Lifetime Silver, 14,000 for Lifetime Gold and 75,000 for Lifetime Platinum. [5] The lounge lines attached to those tiers differ: Lifetime Silver is published with oneworld Ruby, Lifetime Gold with global lounge privileges covering over 600 Qantas and partner lounges and oneworld Sapphire, and Lifetime Platinum with access to Qantas International First and Domestic Business Lounges and oneworld Emerald. [5] On the tier side, Qantas says Silver members will receive an additional Lounge Invitation each Membership Year, with the new tier benefits becoming available in 2027. [2] Membership tiers and their benefits overall are covered in the Qantas Frequent Flyer programme profile.

Exceptions and limits

  • Marketing and operating carrier. The oneworld lounge entitlement applies only where the traveller departs on a flight both marketed and operated by a oneworld member airline, and First and Business cabin access under that route excludes oneworld connect partners. [1]
  • Qantas-branded versus partner lounges. Qantas's entry terms govern its own lounges; non-Qantas-branded lounges apply the operator's eligibility and entry requirements instead. [1]
  • Guest allowances.
  • Lifetime versus current status. If a member's current flying status is higher than their Lifetime tier, the Lifetime tier benefits activate only once the higher status lapses. [5]
  • Temporary lounge changes. Peak-period reaccommodation at Sydney International and the closure of the Hobart Qantas Club mean the published lounge for a port is not guaranteed on every date. [1]
  • Retired sub-programmes. Points Club, Points Club Plus and Green Tier are retired on 8 December 2026, but vouchers and Lounge Invitations issued before that date remain valid under the current terms and conditions. [2]
  • Emirates membership route.
