Qantas Club: Lounge Membership Profile

Qantas Club is the lounge membership Qantas sells on either a yearly or a pay-as-you-go basis, and it is one of the routes Qantas lists for getting into its airport lounges. [2]

Facts checked: 18 October 2026

Key takeaways

  • Qantas Club memberships come in two forms: a yearly membership and a pay-as-you-go membership. [2]
  • Qantas Club is only one way into a lounge. Access is also based on the class of travel, Qantas Frequent Flyer membership tier, or oneworld or Emirates membership status, and travellers can use a Complimentary Lounge Invitation or buy a single-visit Qantas Lounge Pass where one is available. [2]
  • Status-based lounge access is a different route: Qantas Platinum and Gold members, equivalent to oneworld Emerald and Sapphire, can reach more than 650 lounges worldwide when they are departing on a flight marketed and operated by a oneworld member airline. [2]

What is Qantas Club and how is it sold?

Qantas presents joining the Qantas Club as a way to start every trip in the lounge, with a choice between a yearly membership and a pay-as-you-go membership. [2] Qantas operates a large selection of its own lounges and also gives access to partner lounges worldwide, and it distinguishes the Qantas Club from other access routes such as the class of travel, Qantas Frequent Flyer tier, and oneworld or Emirates membership status. [2]

Where a member has no membership or status entitlement, Qantas lists two further options: a Complimentary Lounge Invitation, or a single-visit Qantas Lounge Pass if one is available to buy. [2] Entry to Qantas-branded lounges is subject to the lounge entry terms and conditions, and entry to lounges that are not Qantas branded is subject to the operating airline's own eligibility and entry requirements. [2]

How does Qantas Club compare with status lounge access?

The two routes work differently. Qantas Club is a membership sold by the year or on a pay-as-you-go basis [2], while Qantas Frequent Flyer status is earned through Status Credits on eligible Qantas, Jetstar, oneworld member and partner airline flights, and Status Credits reset at the start of each new Membership Year. Qantas has announced changes to this picture. From 8 December 2026, Gold, Platinum and Platinum One members can roll over 50% of Status Credits earned above their tier's attain requirement, up to 350 for Gold and 500 for Platinum and Platinum One, and Silver members can roll over 25% of excess Status Credits up to 100 per Membership Year. [3] Also from 8 December 2026, members can earn up to 140 Status Credits each Membership Year from everyday spend across ten categories such as credit cards, banking, hotels and shopping. [5] Later in 2027, Qantas intends to move to a single Status Credit target to attain and retain each tier, for example 700 Status Credits a year for Gold, where previously 700 was needed to attain and 600 to retain. [3]

Status also unlocks lounges beyond the Qantas Club network. Platinum and Gold members, or travellers in a First or Business cabin on any oneworld member airline, can access more than 650 airport lounges worldwide, but only when departing on a flight that is both marketed and operated by a oneworld member airline, and oneworld connect partners are excluded. [2] Qantas will also give Silver members an additional Lounge Invitation each Membership Year from 2027, in addition to existing member benefits. [3] Membership of Qantas Frequent Flyer itself, which is required to earn and use Qantas Points, is subject to the programme terms and a joining fee may apply. [1]

What is inside a Qantas lounge?

Qantas describes seasonal menus, a selection of wines and beers, and free Wi-Fi in all of its lounges. [2] The dress code is smart casual, which includes appropriate footwear. [2] At the Sydney Qantas Club, Qantas has built a Joey Club zone with LEGO Australia for children aged 18 months and above, including a DUPLO brick pit, gaming stations and a quiet zone with books and colouring tables. [2] The lounge estate is changing: a new Sydney International Business Lounge is due to open in early 2027 and a new Hobart Qantas Club is planned for early 2027, while the regional lounge refresh programme was completed across the network with the reopening of the Emerald Regional Lounge in August 2026. [2]

Exceptions and limits

  • Lounge access rules vary by lounge operator. Qantas-branded lounges apply the lounge entry terms and conditions, while non-Qantas branded lounges apply the operator's own eligibility and entry requirements. [2]
  • The oneworld lounge benefit for Platinum and Gold members requires a flight that is marketed and operated by a oneworld member airline, and excludes oneworld connect partners. [2]
  • The Hobart Qantas Club is temporarily closed while the Hobart Airport terminal redevelopment is under construction; during the closure, light refreshments are available near gates 8 and 9. [2]
  • The Sydney International Business Lounge has moved to a temporary space near gate 24 during construction, and Qantas says travellers may be reaccommodated in an alternative lounge at peak periods. [2]
  • Points Club, Points Club Plus and Green Tier will be retired on 8 December 2026, but vouchers and Lounge Invitations issued before the retirement date remain valid under the current terms and conditions. [3]
  • Status Credit rollover does not reset a member's Qantas Points expiry date; Qantas says points stay active if a member earns or uses Qantas Points within 18 months. [3]

Frequently asked questions

Can you get into a Qantas lounge without Qantas Club membership?

Yes. Qantas bases lounge access on the class of travel, Qantas Frequent Flyer membership tier, or oneworld or Emirates membership status, and also allows Complimentary Lounge Invitations or a single-visit Qantas Lounge Pass where one is available. [2]

Is Qantas Club the same thing as Qantas Frequent Flyer status?

They are different access routes. Qantas Club is sold as a yearly or pay-as-you-go membership [2], while status is earned with Status Credits on eligible flights and resets each Membership Year. [4]

What do Qantas Platinum and Gold members need for oneworld lounge access?

They must be departing on a flight that is both marketed and operated by a oneworld member airline; oneworld connect partners do not count. [2]

What is the dress code in Qantas lounges?

Smart casual, including appropriate footwear. [2]

Do Silver members get lounge invitations?

From 2027, Qantas will give Silver members an additional Lounge Invitation each Membership Year, in addition to existing member benefits. [3]
