PROGRAMME PROFILE

TD Rewards

TD Rewards is the points currency attached to TD's travel rewards credit cards in Canada, earned on card spending and redeemed against travel booked through Expedia For TD. [4] TD's credit-card page states that every 200 TD Rewards Points redeemed through Expedia For TD are worth $1 in travel savings. [4]

Key takeaways

  • TD Rewards Points are TD's own points, earned on TD travel rewards credit cards such as the TD First Class Travel® Visa Infinite* Card; they are distinct from Aeroplan points, which belong to the Aeroplan programme operated by Air Canada's subsidiary Aeroplan Inc. [4]
  • For travel booked through Expedia For TD, TD states a flat relationship between points and travel savings: 200 TD Rewards Points are worth $1. [4]
  • Earning is not limited to everyday card spending: TD also advertises sign-up bonus points and a birthday bonus, each with its own conditions. [4]
  • Points move into a TD Rewards Account, and TD asks cardholders to allow up to eight weeks after the conditions are met for bonus points to appear there. [4]

What TD Rewards is

TD organises its Canadian credit cards into categories that include cash back, Aeroplan points and TD Travel Rewards, alongside no-annual-fee, low-rate, U.S. dollar, business and student cards. [4] TD Rewards Points sit with the travel rewards group rather than the cash back or Aeroplan groups. [4] TD also lists a TD Rewards Program page for existing cardholders within its credit-card navigation. [4] [7]

The card that carries the most detail on TD's pages is the TD First Class Travel® Visa Infinite* Card, which earns TD Rewards Points and is advertised with a $139 annual fee, 21.99% interest on purchases and 22.99% on cash advances. [4] TD states that annual interest rates, fees and features are current as of 1 September 2026 unless otherwise indicated and are subject to change. [4] The card account can carry up to three additional cardholders. [4]

TD does not present TD Rewards as one rulebook for all of its cards. [4] The earn and bonus figures shown on the credit-card page are attached to the specific card and offer described there, so a figure read on one card page should not be assumed for another TD card. [4]

Earning points

Points are earned by making purchases on the card, and TD credits bonus points to a TD Rewards Account once the qualifying conditions are met. [4] For the TD First Class Travel® Visa Infinite* Card, an offer effective 1 September 2026 pairs a 20,000-point welcome bonus, awarded after the first purchase, with an additional 140,000 points for $7,500 in net purchases within 180 days of account opening. [4] The same offer includes a first-year annual fee rebate for the primary cardholder and the first additional cardholder. [4]

TD also describes a birthday bonus: 10% of the TD Rewards Points earned on the card over the 12 months before the primary cardholder's birthday, capped at 10,000 points, which TD values at up to $50 in travel booked through Expedia For TD. [4] Points previously earned on other rewards cards, acquisition bonus points and other promotional rewards points do not count towards that birthday calculation. [4]

A further earning route is a travel credit rather than points: TD advertises a $100 annual TD Travel Credit when a cardholder books through Expedia for TD. [4] The offer terms tie it to a first eligible travel credit purchase of $500 or more made through Expedia For TD. [4]

Redeeming points

TD's published redemption benchmark is travel through Expedia For TD, where every 200 TD Rewards Points reduce the travel cost by $1. [4] Because the relationship is fixed at 200 points to the dollar rather than priced per seat or per room, TD Rewards behaves like a set-value points currency for that channel. [4] The glossary explains this structure under fixed-value points.

Two details matter when reading that figure. First, the $1 saving is stated for Expedia For TD bookings, so it describes one redemption channel and not necessarily every way points might be used. [4] Second, the travel credit described in the card offer requires a qualifying booking of $500 or more through the same channel before the $100 credit applies. [4]

Readers weighing a bank points currency against a transferable one can read transfer ratio and earning rate; the absence of a published transfer partner here should be treated as an unanswered question rather than a confirmed one. [4]

Limits and offer conditions

  • Offer eligibility. The TD First Class Travel® Visa Infinite* offer is not available to customers who activated and/or closed an account for that card in the previous 12 months, and the account must be approved, open and in good standing while the offer is in effect. [4]
  • Timing. Bonus points are credited to the TD Rewards Account, and TD asks customers to allow up to eight weeks after each offer's conditions are fulfilled. [4] The first additional cardholder's annual fee rebate is applied within two monthly statements of the statement carrying the first annual fee charge. [4]
  • Forfeiture. Closing the card account or transferring to another TD credit card may result in forfeiture of bonus points not yet awarded. [4]
  • Discretion and change. TD reserves the right to limit the number of accounts opened by, and the number of TD Rewards Points awarded to, any one person, and states that offers may be changed, withdrawn or extended at any time. [4] TD also reserves the right to amend the offer on an account to reflect the offer available at activation if the card has not been activated while the offer is in effect. [4]
