How to use Aeroméxico Rewards elite upgrades to Clase Premier
Aeroméxico Rewards is the loyalty programme of Aeroméxico, operated by PLM Premier, S.A.P.I. de C.V. Elite members can reach the Clase Premier cabin through the complimentary upgrades attached to their level, subject to availability. [4] Separately, points are redeemable for programme benefits such as an Aeroméxico Rewards ticket and travel extras, under the terms of each provider. [3] [4] Complimentary upgrades are not available on Light or Basic fares. [4]

Key takeaways
- Aeroméxico Rewards points can be redeemed for benefits from the programme's participating airlines and affiliated companies, including an Aeroméxico Rewards ticket and travel extras for a flight, under the terms of each provider. [3] [4]
- Elite levels add complimentary upgrades to Clase Premier, subject to availability, with a different confirmation window for each level. [4]
- Light and Basic fares are excluded from the complimentary upgrade benefit. [4]
- Points have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged or refunded for cash. [3]
What can you use Aeroméxico Rewards points for?
Points are the programme's redemption currency, and a member can use them for the products, services and privileges offered by the airlines and companies taking part in Aeroméxico Rewards, under the redemption terms that apply to each of those providers. [3] Two of the options Aeroméxico lists are a Boleto Aeroméxico Rewards, which uses points to buy an air ticket, and travel extras that are added to a booking with points. [4]
The redemption has to be made directly by the Aeroméxico Rewards member who holds the account, and the programme sets out three channels: the members' website using the web password, the Aeroméxico Rewards telephone service centre, and affiliated partners where the card is presented or the personal identification number is provided. [3] Points carry no monetary value, are not exchangeable or refundable for cash, and point transfers into the programme are final once they have been applied. [3]
Balances have had indefinite validity since 10 April 2023. [3] Members earn Aeroméxico Rewards points on Aeroméxico flights under the rate that applies from 1 January 2022. [5] Missing credit can be requested up to nine months after an Aeroméxico flight, or up to six months after a flight with a SkyTeam carrier or another affiliated airline, provided at least 10 days have passed since the flight and the name, surnames and date of birth on the ticket match the account. [6]
How do complimentary upgrades work by Aeroméxico Rewards level?
Separately from points, the programme attaches complimentary upgrades to the Clase Premier cabin to its elite levels, subject to availability, and the point at which the upgrade can happen depends on the level held. [4]
| Level | When the upgrade applies | Fares excluded |
|---|---|---|
| Plata (Silver) | Domestic routes; requested at the last-minute waiting area | Light and Basic |
| Oro (Gold) | 24 hours before the flight, with one companion | Light and Basic |
| Platino (Platinum) | 72 hours before the flight, with one companion | Light and Basic |
| Titanio (Titanium) | 120 hours before the flight, with one companion | Light and Basic |
The Silver benefit is described as a domestic-route upgrade that the member asks for at the last-minute waiting area, while Gold members are upgraded from 24 hours before departure, Platinum members from 72 hours and Titanium members from 120 hours, in each case with one companion. [4] Every one of these cells carries the same restriction on Light and Basic fares. [4]
Which fares cannot be upgraded?
Light and Basic fares do not take part in the complimentary upgrade benefit. [4] A related rule sits on the earning side: tickets bought in Basic Economy, class V or its equivalent, are not eligible to accrue Qualifying Points, so they do not count towards reaching or maintaining any Aeroméxico Rewards level. [4] Qualifying Points are the points a member collects exclusively from flying, and they are what moves an account through the Plata, Oro, Platino and Titanio thresholds of 25,000, 50,000, 80,000 and 100,000 points. [4]
Exceptions and limits
- A cabin upgrade, or travel in class “O”, does not count for access to the Aeroméxico Premier lounges. [4]
- While an account is temporarily suspended, the member cannot accrue points, cannot redeem or exchange points, and cannot use the benefits attached to the membership. [3]
- Abuse or fraud connected with the issuing, earning or redemption of points can lead to cancellation of the points accumulated and of redemptions made with points of illegitimate origin. [3]
- An account that stays inactive for 48 consecutive months or more may be cancelled, whether or not it holds a points balance, and cancellation means the definitive loss of the points in it. [3]
- Where a change or cancellation option is valid for an Aeroméxico Rewards ticket, the conditions in the programme terms apply, and the levels page lists a waiver of the change fee on such a ticket among the level benefits. [4]
