How to enroll in Amex Offers and get statement credits

Amex Offers is a card-linked offers program from American Express in which eligible U.S. Card Members add an individual merchant offer to a Card and then earn a statement credit, Membership Rewards points or another reward after making a qualifying purchase with that same enrolled Card. [1]

Facts checked: 18 October 2026

Key takeaways

  • Amex Offers is enrollment-based: the offer has to be added to an eligible Card before the qualifying purchase is made, and spending that happens first does not qualify. [1]
  • Only U.S.-issued American Express Consumer and Business Cards may be eligible, and American Express says not every Card Member is eligible because Card type and account status are taken into account. [1]
  • Credits are not instant: American Express asks Card Members to allow 90 days after an offer's expiration date for a statement credit to post, as long as it receives the merchant's information. [1]

How do you add an Amex Offer to your Card?

Adding an offer takes a few taps, but it must happen before the purchase. American Express says eligible Card Members can add Amex Offers either from their account dashboard or through the Amex App. [1]

  1. Log in to your American Express account online or open the Amex App. [1]
  2. Go to the Amex Offers section; in the App, tap the "Offers" icon at the bottom of the screen and select the "Amex Offers and Benefits" tab. [1]
  3. Select "Add to Card", or tap the plus icon in the App. [1]
  4. Use that same enrolled Card at the participating merchant and meet the offer's terms. [1]

A purchase made before the offer was added does not earn a statement credit or points, even when the same Card was used. [1] Each offer also carries its own conditions: purchases must be made in U.S. dollars and comply with the minimum spend, the purchase channel (online or in-store) and the date by which the purchase must be made. [1]

Offers are dynamic and personalized, so they can differ between Card Members and are available for varying and limited periods, some with limited enrollment. [1] American Express notes that navigating away from the Amex Offers page may mean seeing different offers on return, and that an added offer stays on the Card until it expires or is used, depending on the offer terms. [1] In the App, Card Members can switch on push notifications in the App preference center to be alerted when select new offers become available. [1]

American Express publishes sample offers on its Amex Offers page; the three featured on 18 October 2026 were: [1]

Each of those three offers was limited to one statement credit per eligible Card Member account. [1]

Which cards are eligible for Amex Offers?

Only U.S.-issued American Express Consumer and Business Cards may be eligible to participate, and American Express reserves the right to determine eligibility for the program. [1] Eligibility depends on factors such as Card type and account status, so a Card Member can confirm their own position by logging in and opening the Amex Offers section of their account. [1] The American Express App is available only for eligible accounts in the United States, and American Express prepaid Cards and Cards issued by non-American Express issuers are not eligible for the App. [1]

Additional Card Members may also be eligible to enroll in Amex Offers, and all rewards are applied to the Basic Card Member's account. [1] If both a Basic Card Member and an Additional Card Member are eligible and independently enroll in the same offer, each Card Member may qualify for and receive the reward on their enrolled Card, because qualifying transactions are tracked separately for each enrolled Card and are not aggregated across Cards to satisfy an offer's requirements. [1]

When do Amex Offers statement credits post?

The credit is not taken at checkout; it is applied to the account as a statement credit after the qualifying purchase. [1] American Express asks Card Members to allow 90 days after the offer's expiration date for statement credits to post, provided the company receives information from the merchant about the qualifying purchase. [1]

Individual offers can be more specific. In the Spirit Halloween and LegalZoom offers shown on 18 October 2026, the credit typically posted within 30 days of the qualifying purchase, with up to 90 days after the offer end date in some circumstances, and Card Members were asked to call the number on the back of the Card if the credit had not appeared 30 days after the purchase. [1] The Maje offer asked for 90 days after its 18 November 2026 end date. [1]

Progress can be followed in the Amex Offers section of the account or App: added offers appear in an enrolled list, and a saved offers section shows past redemptions and savings. [1] Card Members in the United States who need help can chat online through amex.co/chatnow or call the number on the back of their Card. [1]

What limits and exclusions apply?

  • One Card per offer. An offer may only be added to one eligible Card, so if it appears on several Cards the Card Member must choose which one to enroll. [1]
  • Wrong Card. Only qualifying purchases on the enrolled Card count; a transaction on another Card, even one on the same account, does not earn the reward. [1]
  • Typical exclusions. Fees, interest charges, gift cards and other cash equivalents are typically not qualifying purchases, and each offer's terms set out anything further. [1] The Spirit Halloween offer was valid in store at U.S. locations and online at spirithalloween.com only, not on purchases shipped outside the U.S., and not through third parties such as resellers or delivery services; the Maje offer excluded outlets, gift cards, Maje Secondhand and Sandro Paris; the LegalZoom offer was online only and excluded subscription renewals. [1]
  • Returns. A statement credit or points already earned may be reversed if an eligible purchase is returned, partially returned, refunded, cancelled or modified. [1]
  • Expiry. Every offer shows a specific expiration date, and once that date passes the offer cannot be redeemed even if it was added to the Card. [1]
  • Use limits. Some offers can be redeemed more than once and others only once, so the offer terms must be read to confirm how many times an offer can be used. [1]
  • Account status. Accounts cancelled at the time an offer is fulfilled do not receive the credit, and the Maje terms add that a cancelled or past-due Card Account may not qualify. [1]
  • Program enforcement. American Express may revoke access or enrollment if it determines that a Card Member has engaged, or is likely to engage, in abuse, misuse or gaming of the program. [1]
  • Annual value. American Express says U.S.-issued Consumer Card Members who added Amex Offers had the potential to earn an average of $160 in statement credits on qualifying purchases in 2025, and that actual earnings vary. [1]

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to use the same Card I added the Amex Offer to?

Yes. Only qualifying purchases made with the enrolled, eligible Card count, and a transaction on another Card, even one on the same account, does not earn the reward. [1]

Can I add the same Amex Offer to more than one Card?

No. An offer may only be added to one eligible Card, so if it shows up on several Cards the Card Member enrolls on the Card they intend to use. [1]

Why has my Amex Offers statement credit not posted yet?

American Express asks Card Members to allow 90 days after the offer's expiration date for the credit to post, provided it receives information from the merchant. [1] Individual offers can set a shorter typical window of 30 days after the purchase, with a call to the number on the back of the Card suggested if nothing has appeared. [1]

Do gift card purchases count towards an Amex Offer?

Typically not. Gift cards and other cash equivalents are generally not qualifying purchases, and some offers exclude gift cards explicitly, so the individual offer terms decide. [1]

Can an Amex Offer be redeemed after it expires?

No. Each offer shows its own expiration date, and after that date it cannot be redeemed even if it had already been added to the Card. [1]
