How to earn and retain ANA Mileage Club status

ANA Mileage Club is ANA's frequent flyer programme, and its partner-airline pages set out how much basic sector mileage an eligible flight credits to a member, by cabin, fare type and booking class. [3] [4] [5] [6]

Facts checked: 18 October 2026

Key takeaways

  • ANA's partner-airline pages publish basic sector mileage accrual rates by cabin and booking class, and the rate follows the eligible booking class of the boarding date. [3] [4] [6]
  • The spread inside one cabin is wide: on Shenzhen Airlines, economy booking classes Y, B and M earn 100% while L, P, A and K earn 25%. [3]
  • Tickets reserved in booking classes that the partner page does not list are not eligible for mileage accrual, and partner airlines may change accrual rates and eligible booking classes without notice. [3] [4] [5]

What ANA publishes for partner flying

ANA's partner-airline pages present mileage accrual in tables by cabin — business, premium economy and economy — and, within each cabin, by booking class. [3] [4] [5] The booking class is the letter printed on the ticket and indicates the class of service on the reservation, and tickets reserved under other booking classes that are not listed are not eligible for mileage accrual. [3] [4] Accrual rates are applied according to the eligible booking class of the boarding date. [3] [4] [6] Partner airlines may change accrual rates and the booking classes eligible for accrual without notice. [3] [4] [5] Members are advised to keep all documents required for retroactive mileage registration until the flight's mileage has been confirmed as credited to the account. [3] [4] [5] On Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia flights, ANA Premium Points and the various bonus miles normally earned when flying ANA Group flights cannot be accrued. [4] [6] Each page carries its own currency date: 16 October 2023 for Shenzhen Airlines, 10 January 2019 for Virgin Atlantic, 28 October 2019 for Vietnam Airlines and 24 June 2026 for Virgin Australia. How fare type and booking class change the credit

Within a single cabin the listed rates span a wide range. On Shenzhen Airlines, business class earns 150% in J and C, 125% in D and Z and 100% in R for boarding on or after 1 April 2019; premium economy earns 100% in G and 90% in E for boarding on or after 29 October 2023; and economy earns 100% in Y, B and M, 70% in U, H and Q, 50% in V, W, S and T and 25% in L, P, A and K for boarding on or after 29 October 2023. [3] On Virgin Atlantic, business class earns 150% in J and 125% in C, D, I and Z for boarding on or after 15 January 2019, premium economy earns 100% in W, S, H and K, and economy earns 100% in Y and V, 70% in B, R, L, U and M, 50% in E, Q, X, N and O and 30% in T for boarding on or after 15 January 2019. [4] On Vietnam Airlines, business class earns 150% in J and 125% in C, D and I, premium economy earns 100% in W, Z and U, and economy earns 100% in Y, M and S, 70% in B, H and K, 50% in L and Q and 30% in N and R for flights from 1 September 2018. [5] On Virgin Australia, business class earns 150% in J, A, C and D, and economy earns 100% in Y, B, W, H, K and L, 70% in R, E, O, N and V, 50% in P, Q, T, I, S, F, U and G and 30% in M, all for boarding on or after 24 June 2026; the same page shows a separate set of business and economy tables for boarding until 23 June 2026. [6]

Three things named in those tables therefore decide the credit: the cabin flown, the booking class on the ticket and the boarding date, which selects the table that applies. [3] [6] Where an airline has revised its rates, the page keeps the earlier table alongside the later one, so the same booking class can credit differently depending on when the flight boards. Exceptions and limits

  • Route and country limits. UK domestic flights are ineligible for mileage accrual on Virgin Atlantic. [4] For Vietnam Airlines-operated flights, accrual is limited to the codeshare-agreed routes between ANA and Vietnam Airlines listed on the page, which include Tokyo Haneda–Hanoi, Tokyo Narita–Hanoi, Tokyo Narita–Ho Chi Minh City and Osaka Kansai–Hanoi, plus listed domestic Vietnam sectors such as Hanoi–Ho Chi Minh City. [5]
  • Codeshares. When a codeshare flight is operated by an ANA partner airline, mileage accrual follows the operating airline's booking class accrual rates, so rates may differ and there may be cases in which mileage is not accrued at all. [3] [4] [5] [6]
  • Unlisted booking classes. A booking class that does not appear in the relevant table earns nothing for that flight, and the airline may revise the tables without notice. [3] [4]
  • Programme scope. This page covers ANA Mileage Club only. The figures above are ANA's own accrual tables for crediting flights to ANA Mileage Club, and they are not presented as rules for any other Star Alliance programme; status thresholds and qualification periods published by other programmes are separate from these tables.
