JRE POINT: using JR East points for rail travel in Japan
JRE POINT can be used for selected JR East Shinkansen and limited-express products and some seat upgrades. Check exactly what the reward covers before you travel.
What JRE POINT can do
JRE POINT is part of JR East's wider group ecosystem. Its rail reward products include selected Shinkansen e-tickets, conventional-line limited-express ticketless products and certain seat upgrades. Product availability and point requirements depend on the journey and service.
Check what the reward covers
A reward for a limited-express ticket may cover only the express supplement, not the base fare. JR East's official page explicitly says the conventional-line ticketless reward is for the limited-express ticket, and a separate base-fare ticket, pass or other valid fare is needed. Confirm this before boarding.
Displayed point amounts are examples for particular routes and products. Search your actual date, route and train, then check the final product conditions, seat, fees and refund rules.
Set up the right account
JR East services use account registration and linking steps that vary by service. JRE ID supports selected services including JRE POINT, Mobile Suica and Ekinet, but you should follow the instructions shown in the service where you will book. Confirm that your points are visible and that you can access the booking account before travel.
A visitor checklist
- Confirm that the operator and route are within JR East's applicable network.
- Identify whether the reward covers a base fare, express ticket, reserved seat or upgrade.
- Check account linking among JRE POINT, Ekinet and other services you use.
- Compare the reward with a regional pass and an ordinary ticket for the same trip.
- For connections with other operators, verify each ticket and transfer separately.
