How to add or change KrisFlyer redemption nominees
A KrisFlyer member can pick up to five people as redemption nominees and use KrisFlyer miles so those nominees can enjoy award tickets and flight upgrades too. [1] Adding a nominee is free and can be done at any time, but once someone is added they cannot be deleted or replaced for six months, a flat fee per transaction applies to a change or deletion after that, and a flight can only be redeemed for a new, additional or replacement nominee if it departs more than 72 hours after they were added. [1] The change or deletion fee depends on the member's membership tier and on the channel used. [1] [2]

What you can do after reading this guide
- Check whether a person can be added as a redemption nominee and how many places you still have.
- Complete the nominee form with the details it actually asks for, and with the consent it requires.
- Plan award tickets and upgrades around the 72-hour rule for a newly added nominee.
- Identify the fee that applies to a change or deletion at your tier and channel before you confirm the transaction.
- Handle authorised nominees and third-party ticket collection correctly.
Who this applies to and what you need first
This guide covers redemption nominees held on a Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer account, managed on the English redemption nominees page of singaporeair.com, together with the change-of-nominee fees published on that page and on the service-fees page of the United States site. [1] [2] It does not cover the mileage levels for award tickets or upgrades, the booking process itself, or nominee arrangements in other frequent-flyer programmes.
The amounts used here are the ones published in US dollars: the nominees page shows the fee as KrisFlyer miles with a US$ figure, and the United States service-fees page lists it in miles and USD. [1] [2] Where payment is made in local currency, it is converted at the applicable exchange rate provided by Singapore Airlines. [2] Rules published on other country sites or in other currencies are outside this guide.
Before you start, have the nominee's required details: name, date of birth, passport number, passport place of issue and passport expiry date. [1] The nominee's KrisFlyer membership number and their relationship to the member are optional items. [1] You must confirm that you have the person's permission to submit their personal information and accept the Singapore Airlines Privacy Policy for providing and/or updating the details of your redemption nominees. [1] If you authorise a nominee to make bookings and receive redemption tickets on behalf, for yourself or themselves, that person must provide proof of identification. [1]
How do you add, change or delete a KrisFlyer redemption nominee?
- Open the redemption nominees page in your KrisFlyer or PPS Club account, where the Add nominee, Delete nominee and Edit nominee details options are listed. [1]
- Check how many nominees you already hold against the maximum of five at any one time. [1]
- Choose Add nominee and complete all the fields marked with an asterisk. [1]
- Enter the required details for that person — name, date of birth, passport number, passport place of issue and passport expiry date — and, if you wish, their KrisFlyer membership number and relationship to you. [1]
- Confirm that you have the person's permission to submit their personal information and accept the Privacy Policy for providing and/or updating the details of your redemption nominees. [1]
- Submit the nominee; adding is free and can be done at any time. [1]
- Remember the timing rule: for new, additional or replacement nominees you can only redeem flights departing more than 72 hours after they have been added. [1]
- To remove a nominee, choose Delete nominee; to update a nominee's particulars, the page also offers Edit nominee details. [1] A flat fee per transaction is charged when you change or delete your redemption nominees, whether you delete or replace one or more of them. [1]
- Check the fee for your tier and channel before confirming: the nominees page sets out online and by-fax amounts by tier, and states that a different fee is charged for a change or deletion offline. [1] The United States service-fees page lists change of redemption nominees by tier as well. [2]
- After the change or deletion, no further changes can be made for six months. [1]

| Offline change or deletion | A different fee is charged for the change or deletion of redemption nominees offline | [1] |
Changing or deleting offline is treated separately: the nominees page states that a different fee is charged for the change or deletion of redemption nominees offline, and its fee table sets a by-fax channel beside the online one. [1] The United States service-fees page adds that an additional service fee of USD 25 or 2,500 KrisFlyer miles applies for the selected services rendered offline by any Singapore Airlines office or reservations hotline, and lists KrisFlyer membership services, including updating of passport details and adding or changing Redemption Group Nominees, among them; offline service fees are waived for transactions that cannot be performed online, and for all PPS Club members and supplementary cardholders. [2] Where multiple changes and services are used online or offline, the fees applicable are cumulative, and fees can be paid in US dollars (or local currency equivalent) or with KrisFlyer miles for selected functions. [2]
Worked example (illustration)
Illustration only: you are a member whose tier appears as KrisFlyer in the fee table, and you already hold nominees, below the maximum of five. [1] You add one more person: adding is free and can be done at any time, so no fee is payable at that moment. [1] Anything you redeem for that person must be a flight departing more than 72 hours after they were added. [1] Later, once six months have passed, you delete one nominee and replace another in the same transaction: a flat fee is charged for that transaction whether you delete or replace one or more nominees, and at the KrisFlyer tier the online amount on the nominees page is 3,000 KrisFlyer miles / US$30, with 5,000 KrisFlyer miles / US$50 by fax. [1] The United States service-fees page lists the same change at 3,000 miles or USD 30. [2] After the change you cannot make any further changes for six months, and the replacement nominee can only be used for flights departing more than 72 hours after they were added. [1]
Common reasons it fails
- A sixth nominee. A maximum of five redemption nominees can be held at any one time. [1]
- A company named as nominee. A corporate or other legal entity cannot be your redemption nominee. [1]
- Deleting or replacing within six months of adding. Once you add someone, you can't delete or replace them for six months. [1]
- A second change inside six months. Once you've changed or deleted a redemption nominee, you can't make any further changes for six months. [1]
- Redeeming too soon for a new nominee. For new, additional or replacement nominees, only flights departing more than 72 hours after they have been added can be redeemed. [1]
- An incomplete form or missing consent. All fields marked with an asterisk must be completed, and the submission requires confirming that you have the nominee's permission and accepting the Privacy Policy for providing and/or updating the details of your redemption nominees. [1]
- Ticket collection by someone else without paperwork. For collection of redemption tickets by a third party, including couriers and non-authorised redemption nominees, a signed letter of authorisation from the principal KrisFlyer/PPS Club member and a copy of both sides of the principal member's membership card are required. [1]
Exceptions and limits
- Offline handling. A different fee is charged for the change or deletion of redemption nominees offline, and the by-fax amounts on the nominees page sit alongside the online ones. [1]
- An extra offline service fee. An additional service fee of USD 25 or 2,500 KrisFlyer miles applies for selected services rendered offline by any Singapore Airlines office or reservations hotline, with adding or changing Redemption Group Nominees listed among those services. [2]
- Tier relief. On the United States service-fees page, change of redemption nominees is waived for KrisFlyer Elite Gold, PPS Club and Solitaire PPS Club, and the nominees page shows that tier as free both online and by fax. [1] [2]
- Authorised nominees. Once you have authorised a redemption nominee, Singapore Airlines will not be held liable for the issuance of redemption tickets to him or her. [1]
- Data retention. Singapore Airlines retains customer data for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, its legal or business purposes, or as required by relevant laws, and the data is removed after those purposes are fulfilled. [1]
Frequently asked questions
Does it cost anything to add a redemption nominee?
No. Adding a redemption nominee is free and can be done at any time. [1] The fee applies to changing or deleting nominees, as a flat fee per transaction, whether you delete or replace one or more of them. [1]
Can I remove a nominee I added recently?
Not within six months. Once you add someone, you cannot delete or replace them for six months, and a fee in miles or cash is payable to delete or replace a nominee after six months. [1] Once you have changed or deleted a redemption nominee, you cannot make any further changes for six months. [1]
How soon can a newly added nominee be used for a flight?
For new, additional or replacement nominees, you can only redeem flights for them that are departing more than 72 hours after they have been added as your redemption nominee or nominees. [1]
Can my child travel as a nominee, and can a company be one?
A child or infant nominee is the same as an adult nominee, so the same limit of five nominees at any one time applies. [1] A corporate or other legal entity cannot be your redemption nominee. [1]
