How to transfer NAB Rewards points to airlines

NAB Rewards points can be redeemed and transferred into points with other loyalty programs that are listed on the NAB Rewards Store at the time of the transfer, and the request is made through the NAB Rewards Store or by calling NAB, with the partner points normally available within 14 Business Days. [1] This guide covers the eligibility, multiple and timing rules in the NAB Rewards Terms and Conditions effective 1 October 2026, and what happens to points once they have left the NAB program. [1]

Key takeaways

  • You may redeem NAB Rewards Points and transfer them for points with other loyalty programs listed on the NAB Rewards Store at the time you want to make the transfer. [1]
  • You must already be a member of the receiving program, hold any required minimum number of Points, redeem in any required multiple of Points, and redeem whole Points only. [1]
  • The partner points are normally available in your loyalty program account within 14 Business Days of your request. [1]
  • The transfer is one-way: once Points have been redeemed for points with the other program, they cannot be converted back to NAB Rewards Points or used for other NAB Rewards Rewards. [1]

Which airline partners can you transfer to?

The terms group this under “loyalty program rewards”: you redeem your Points and transfer them for points with other loyalty programs that are listed on the NAB Rewards Store at the time you wish to make the transfer. [1] The store sets out the programs open to transfers, the minimum Points requirements and the current redemption rate. [1]

The number of Points needed to redeem for points with another loyalty program can vary between card types and between loyalty programs, and that redemption rate is set by NAB and may be changed from time to time under the Rewards terms or the terms of the relevant card. [1] Individual Rewards may also carry special terms imposed by NAB or by the Rewards Provider, published on the store or in other promotional material. [1]

Availability is not fixed: NAB may withdraw, limit, modify or cancel the continued availability of a Reward, or change the number of Points required for it, at any time and without prior notice, although where possible it will give reasonable notice and a genuine opportunity to redeem before changes that may materially lower the value of the Rewards you can get. [1] A change to the number of Points required to redeem a Reward can be made at any time without prior notice, with current information published on the NAB Rewards Store. [1]

How do you request a transfer?

  1. Join the receiving program first. You must be a member of the applicable loyalty program, and your membership of it is governed by that program’s own terms; membership of NAB Rewards does not entitle you to membership of any other loyalty program. [1]
  2. Check the minimum and the multiple. You need to have earned any required minimum number of Points and to redeem in accordance with any required multiple of Points, such as multiples of 1,000, using whole Points only. [1]
  3. Make sure the card account is usable. Your Rewards Card Account must not be blocked to activity — for example by being in arrears, suspended, closed or in default under the Rewards Card Account Terms and Conditions. [1]
  4. Submit the request. Rewards can be claimed by calling NAB or through the NAB Rewards Store; on a personal Rewards Card Account the number is 13 22 65 and on a business account it is 13 10 12. [1] The Accountholder can claim, and so can a person authorized to operate the Rewards Card Account through NAB Internet Banking or NAB Connect using an additional NAB ID. [1]
  5. Keep the balances separate. You cannot pool Points in your Points Balance with Points in another person’s Points Balance. [1]

How long does a NAB Rewards transfer take?

When you ask to redeem Points for points with another loyalty program, the Reward will normally be available in your loyalty program account within 14 Business Days of your request. [1] A Business Day for this purpose is a day other than a Saturday, a Sunday or a day gazetted as a public holiday throughout Australia. [1] NAB is not responsible if there is any delay, except to the extent the delay is caused by its fraud, negligence or misconduct. [1]

What happens after the points leave NAB Rewards?

Once Points have been redeemed for points with the other loyalty program they cannot be converted back to Points or otherwise used for Rewards under NAB Rewards, and they are subject to the terms and conditions of that program, which may be varied in accordance with those terms. [1] NAB is not responsible if you are unable to use the Points with the other loyalty program as you had expected. [1]

Redeeming also reduces your NAB Rewards Points Balance, and the oldest Points in your balance are deducted first when a Reward is claimed. [1] You can see your Points Balance and any Points due to expire in the next three months by accessing the NAB Rewards Store. [1]

Exceptions and limits

  • Points can expire before you transfer them. Points in your Points Balance must be used to claim a Reward within 36 months from the date the transaction that earned them was processed to your Rewards Card Account, and Points still unused after that period expire and are forfeited. [1]
  • Closing the card shortens the clock. If you ask NAB to cancel or close your Rewards Card Account, you have up to 60 days from the date of your request to use any Points in your Points Balance, and you must call NAB to redeem them. [1]
  • Points are not cash. Points are not property and have no monetary value except to the extent a Reward provides for it, and they cannot be redeemed for cash except to the extent set out in the NAB Rewards Terms and Conditions. [1]
  • Points cannot be sold, and personal transfers are limited. You cannot sell Points, and only a Business Rewards Card Account holder can transfer Points, by calling NAB, to another Related Body Corporate or to a Cardholder — a different process from redeeming into an airline program. [1]
  • Program termination overrides the normal rules. NAB may terminate NAB Rewards at any time acting reasonably, giving at least 90 days’ prior notice where possible, and Points will be available for use for at least three months from the date you are notified that NAB Rewards is discontinued. [1]
