PROGRAMME PROFILE
NAB Rewards
NAB Rewards is the in-house card rewards programme for National Australia Bank's own personal credit cards in Australia: spending on a NAB Rewards card earns NAB Rewards Points, which can be redeemed for gift cards in the NAB Rewards Store or sent to a small set of airline, hotel and retail loyalty partners, with Qantas Frequent Flyer excluded. [1] [3]
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- NAB Rewards sits on four personal NAB cards: the NAB Rewards Card, the NAB Rewards Travel Card, and a Velocity version of each; two of them convert points into Velocity Points automatically every month. [1] [3]
- NAB Rewards Points expire three years after they were earned, and NAB Rewards Points cannot be redeemed for Qantas Points. [1]
- Points can be spent in the NAB Rewards Store on gift cards, or moved to Velocity Frequent Flyer, flybuys, ALL Accor, KrisFlyer or Koru. [1]
How NAB Rewards points are earned
NAB markets the four NAB Rewards cards on uncapped earning: the programme page says there is no limit to the amount of rewards points a cardholder can earn each month, and the card comparison page describes the range as suitable for earning an unlimited amount of NAB Rewards Points each month. [1] [3] The headline rate differs by tier. The NAB Rewards Card and the NAB Rewards Card with Velocity are advertised at up to 2 NAB Rewards Points per $1, while the NAB Rewards Travel Card and the NAB Rewards Travel Card with Velocity are advertised at up to 2.5 NAB Rewards Points per $1. [1] [3]
The two card tiers also differ on price and access. The NAB Rewards Card and its Velocity version carry a $3,000 minimum credit limit and a $195 annual card fee; the Travel Card versions carry a $6,000 minimum credit limit and a $395 annual card fee, and all four list a 22.49% p.a. variable purchase rate. [1] [3] Travel Card extras are fee-free international transactions, two complimentary airport lounge passes each year at over 400 lounges, a complimentary global eSIM plan and lounge access when a domestic or international flight is delayed by 60 minutes or more. [1] All four cards list complimentary insurances, up to 44 interest-free days on purchases, and an additional cardholder at no extra cost. [1] [3]
Redeeming and transferring points
Redemption runs through the NAB Rewards Store. A cardholder logs into NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app, goes to Cards, selects the NAB Rewards card to see the points balance, then chooses Redeem points to open the store. [1] Gift card options named by NAB include Coles, Woolworths, Bunnings and JB HiFi. [1] Airline transfers take a separate path: log in, go to My Cards, select the NAB Rewards card and choose Redeem points, then Travel and "Airline Partner Programs". [1]
Automatic monthly redemption can be set up in the NAB Rewards Store profile so that the points balance is sent each month to flybuys, Velocity Frequent Flyer or an ALL Accor account; NAB also lists KrisFlyer and Koru as transfer options. [1] For Velocity the conversion is stated plainly: 3 NAB Rewards Points become 1 Velocity Point, and to earn Velocity Points a cardholder must be a Velocity Frequent Flyer member and give the Velocity membership number to NAB. [1] NAB adds that applicants who want the automatic Velocity redemption should start the application through its dedicated Velocity page. [1] [3]
Exceptions and limits
- Qantas is outside the programme. NAB Rewards Points cannot be used to redeem Qantas Points, and the transfer feature excludes the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. [1] NAB sells separate NAB Qantas Rewards cards that earn Qantas Points, a different currency from NAB Rewards Points. [3]
- Expiry. NAB states that NAB Rewards Points expire three years after they were earned. [1]
- Bonus point eligibility. Current bonus offers state that bonus points are not available to customers who currently hold, have held, or are transferring from, any personal NAB Rewards credit card in the last 24 months. [1] [3]
- Velocity bonus timing. The Velocity bonus offers show a start date of 1 October 2026, end on withdrawal, and are limited to new cardholders, with the Travel Card version available online only. [1] [3]
- Existing-customer pricing. Existing NAB customers can get a $100 reduction in the annual card fee for the first year, from $195 to $95 on the NAB Rewards Card and from $395 to $295 on the Travel Card, but only by applying through Internet Banking, the NAB app or with a banker. [1] [3]
- Changeable terms. NAB says interest, fees, charges and earn rates are subject to change, that it may vary or end a bonus offer at any time, and that approval and credit limit depend on its credit assessment. [1] [3]
- Eligibility. Applicants must be 18 or older, receiving a regular income, an Australian resident for tax purposes, and an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or holder of an acceptable temporary residency visa; visitor, working holiday, student, exchange, transit and bridging visas are listed as not acceptable, with an exception for New Zealand citizens on a Special Category visa. [3]
- Business cards. NAB lists a NAB Rewards Business Signature Card among its business cards. [3]
