PROGRAMME PROFILE
Westpac Altitude Rewards: Cards, Altitude Points and Redemption
Westpac Altitude Rewards is the credit card rewards programme behind the Altitude Rewards Platinum and Altitude Rewards Black cards, both of which earn Altitude Points on eligible purchases and are listed by Westpac for customers in Australia. [4] [5]
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- Westpac lists two Altitude Rewards cards: Platinum earns up to 2 Altitude Points per A$1 on eligible purchases and Black earns up to 3. [4]
- Both carry an annual A$75 Altitude Rewards programme fee on top of the annual card fee, which is A$175 on Platinum and A$295 on Black. [4]
- The products are offered in Australia, and Westpac states that, unless expressly stated otherwise, its products and services are available only in Australia. [5]
Where Altitude Rewards sits
Westpac groups its reward cards on one comparison page. The Altitude Rewards cards earn Altitude Points, while Altitude Qantas Platinum and Black earn Qantas Points directly into a Qantas Frequent Flyer account, and Altitude Velocity Platinum and Black earn Velocity Points directly into a Velocity Frequent Flyer account. [4] All six cards list a 23.98% p.a. variable purchase rate and a 23.99% p.a. variable cash advance rate. [4]
The annual Altitude Rewards programme fee is A$75 on both Rewards cards, against A$125 on each Platinum and A$155 on each Black card in the Qantas and Velocity pairs. [4] The Rewards cards sit at the same annual card fee as their airline counterparts: A$175 for Platinum and A$295 for Black. [4] Minimum credit limit and minimum income differ by tier — A$3,000 and A$30,000 p.a. for Platinum, A$6,000 and A$75,000 p.a. for Black. [4]
The same page lists a separate “Westpac Rewards” benefit of deals, discounts and cashback reached through the Westpac App, presented apart from Altitude Points. [4]
Earning Altitude Points
Westpac quotes up to 2 Altitude Points per A$1 spent on eligible purchases with Altitude Rewards Platinum and up to 3 with Altitude Rewards Black. [4]
New applicants may be offered up to 100,000 bonus Altitude Points on Platinum and up to 200,000 on Black. [4] The same listings show a reduced first-year card fee of A$99 reverting to A$175 on Platinum and A$200 reverting to A$295 on Black, with lower first-year fees of A$49 and A$149 for existing Westpac customers. [4] Those offers are not available to people who have held a Westpac credit card in the last 24 months, apply to new cards only, and are subject to credit criteria and terms. [4]
Redeeming Altitude Points
Westpac describes Altitude Rewards Platinum as offering a choice of gift cards, merchandise or its Pay with Points feature, and describes Black as giving flexibility in how the cardholder redeems with Pay with Points. [4]
How conversions are normally priced and checked is covered in transfer ratio and the transfer points checklist.
Managing the card
Westpac’s help centre lists self-service tasks for its cards, including activating a card, adding a digital card, resetting a card PIN, reporting a lost or stolen card, replacing or reissuing a card and viewing statements. [6] The comparison page also describes two features Westpac presents for its credit cards generally rather than for Altitude Rewards alone: a dynamic CVC on the digital card that changes every 24 hours, and PartPay, which splits a purchase of more than A$100 into four payments over six weeks. [4]
Exceptions and limits
- Market and advice. Westpac states that, unless expressly stated otherwise, the products and services described on its site are available only in Australia, and that the information is general and does not take a person’s objectives, financial situation or needs into account. [5]
- Changing fees and approval. Westpac says conditions, fees and charges apply to its products and may change or be introduced in future, and that lending criteria apply to credit approval. [5]
- Pending fee update. Westpac’s update to fees, rates and minimum payments dated 30 November 2026 is stated for the Low Rate, Lite and Low Fee cards; the notice does not name the Altitude Rewards cards. [4]
- Two fees, not one. The annual Altitude Rewards programme fee is listed separately from the annual card fee, so both form part of the card’s cost. [4]
- Benefits carrying conditions. Complimentary international medical travel insurance, domestic travel and rental vehicle excess insurance, and the Flight Delay Access Pass are listed for both Rewards cards; Black additionally lists complimentary airport lounge access and global data roaming. [4]
