How to transfer Qantas Business Rewards points
Transferring Qantas Business Rewards points means moving Qantas Points held by an Australian business account into an individual Qantas Frequent Flyer account. The business account's Account Manager requests the move online or through the Qantas Business Rewards Service Center, and each request must carry at least 3,000 Qantas Points. [1]

Key takeaways
- Qantas Business Rewards points are sent from a business Membership Account to a nominated Qantas Points Recipient, who must be a Qantas Frequent Flyer member. [1]
- The Account Manager holds the transfer permission, and an Account User can be given it; every request must be for at least 3,000 Qantas Points. [1]
- The move is one-way. Transferred points cannot return to the business account and cannot be sent to another Qantas Business Rewards member. [1]
- A transfer counts as activity, so it keeps the business account's remaining points alive for another 18 months. [1]
- Points moved out through a Qantas Business Rewards transfer are excluded from Status Credits on the ground. [3] [5]
Who can transfer Qantas Business Rewards points?
Qantas Business Rewards membership is open only to ABN Holders with a postal mailing address in Australia, and a QBR Member is an entity with such an address holding an Australian Business Number recorded as active on the ABN Register. [1] Because the points sit with the business rather than with an individual, the transfer depends on which account role a person holds. [1]
| Role | Role in a transfer |
|---|---|
| ABN Holder | Authorizes the opening and activation of the account, appoints the Account Manager, cancels the membership and updates the ABN as necessary. [1] |
| Account Manager | Has full permission for all functions on the Membership Account, including transferring Qantas Points to an individual's Qantas Frequent Flyer account. [1] |
| Account User | Added by the Account Manager and able to use the functions the manager permits, which can include transferring Qantas Points to an individual's Qantas Frequent Flyer account. [1] |
| Benefit Earner | An owner, director, officer, employee, contractor, consultant, partner or principal who can earn benefits for the business, but who has no account access unless appointed as an Account User. [1] |
A travel agent or booking agent cannot be authorized by the ABN Holder as the Account Manager or an Account User. [1] Each QBR Member can hold only one Membership Account, membership is not transferable and accounts cannot be combined. [1]
How do you request a transfer to Qantas Frequent Flyer?
- Confirm the balance. The Account Manager is responsible for making sure the account holds enough Qantas Points for the transfer before requesting it. [1]
- Name the recipient. The Account Manager nominates one or more Qantas Frequent Flyer members, who become the Qantas Points Recipients on the transfer. [1]
- Submit the request. The request can be made online or by calling the Qantas Business Rewards Service Center and nominating the Qantas Points Recipient. [1]
- Clear the minimum. Each request must transfer at least 3,000 Qantas Points, or any other minimum Qantas sets from time to time. [1]
Transfers sit alongside the Qantas Frequent Flyer program terms, which continue to govern the recipient's account once the points arrive. [1] For what those points can then be spent on, see how to book Qantas Frequent Flyer awards.
What limits apply to Qantas Business Rewards point transfers?
One direction only. Once Qantas Points have been transferred to a Qantas Points Recipient they cannot be transferred back to the business Membership Account, and points cannot be moved from one QBR Member to another QBR Member. [1]
Caps. Under the program terms effective 29 May 2025, Qantas reserves the right, acting reasonably, to introduce a cap on the number of Qantas Points that can be transferred from a Membership Account in any one transaction, and a separate cap on the number transferred in any one Membership Year. [1]
No promotional use. A QBR Member, its ABN Holder, Account Manager or Account Users must not offer, use or transfer Qantas Points as part of any promotional activity, including competitions, incentives and marketing. [1]
Expiry clock. All Qantas Points in a Membership Account expire at midnight Sydney time at the end of the 18th consecutive month in which the member has not earned Qantas Points, redeemed Qantas Points for rewards, or transferred Qantas Points to a Qantas Frequent Flyer member. [1] A transfer therefore restarts that period. [1] In the six months before the expiry date the member is told how many points are about to expire and when, and expired points cannot be re-credited. [1]
Tax. Qantas recommends that QBR Members and their nominated Qantas Points Recipients consult an accountant or tax adviser about possible tax implications, such as fringe benefits tax, arising from earning and using Qantas Points. [1]
When can a transfer be blocked or reversed?
- Suspension. If Qantas reasonably suspects fraudulent activity on an account, a material breach of the terms, a breach committed on two or more occasions, or a material breach of the Airline Reward Scheme Terms or the Qantas Frequent Flyer terms, it may suspend the Membership Account immediately. [1] The account can still accrue points during a suspension, but no Qantas Points can be redeemed or transferred while it lasts. [1]
- After a suspension review. The ABN Holder has 14 days to respond to a suspension notice, and the outcome can include canceling Qantas Points that the business has already transferred to Qantas Frequent Flyer members. [1]
- An ABN that is no longer active. If the ABN is recorded as canceled or equivalent, Qantas may ask for proof that it is still active; if that proof does not arrive within 60 days, the membership is terminated at the end of the period and any Qantas Points earned but not yet transferred or redeemed are canceled. [1]
- Canceling the membership. A QBR Member can cancel at any time through the ABN Holder, and on cancellation all accumulated benefits, including Qantas Points, expire immediately. [1] A terminated Membership Account cannot be reinstated, though a new application can be made. [1]
- Status Credits. When Status Credits on the ground launches on 8 December 2026, allowing up to 140 Status Credits a Membership Year from everyday spend, QBR Points Transfers are named among the excluded sources of Qantas Points for that feature. [3] [5]
Frequently asked questions
Can Qantas Business Rewards points be transferred to my own Frequent Flyer account?
Yes, provided you are the Account Manager or an Account User with transfer permission and you nominate a Qantas Frequent Flyer member as the Qantas Points Recipient. [1] The recipient can be one or more Qantas Frequent Flyer members. [1]
What is the smallest Qantas Business Rewards transfer I can make?
Each transfer request must move at least 3,000 Qantas Points, or such other minimum amount as Qantas stipulates from time to time. [1]
Do transferred points expire?
Points in the business account expire at midnight Sydney time at the end of the 18th consecutive month without an earn, a redemption or a transfer. [1] Once the points reach a Qantas Frequent Flyer account they sit under that member's account and the Qantas Frequent Flyer program terms apply. [1]
Can points be sent back to the business account?
No. Once Qantas Points have been transferred to a Qantas Points Recipient they cannot be transferred back to the QBR Member's Membership Account. [1]
Do transferred points count toward Status Credits on the ground?
No. QBR Points Transfers are listed as an exclusion from the Qantas Points that unlock Status Credits on the ground from 8 December 2026. [3] [5]
