COURSE

Start here: Italo Più — joining, earning points, levels, award tickets and keeping your points

Italo Più is the loyalty program of Italo – Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori S.p.A., governed by a program regulation covering membership, the Italo Più code, levels and cards [1]. For 2026–2027 the points are issued through the prize operation “Italo Più” – VI Edizione – Anni 2026-2027, whose regulation declares the program regulation an integral part of itself [2].

Facts checked: 19 October 2026

Key takeaways

  • Italo high-speed tickets bought on the website or app earn 1 Qualifying Point and 1 Reward Point per euro including VAT, and only Qualifying Points decide the level [2] [1].
  • Premium, Privilege and Privilege Plus need 1,500, 6,000 and 15,000 Qualifying Points in each 12-month qualifying period counted from the enrollment date [1].
  • Reward Points run to the end of the edition on 30 May 2027, including any extension, and can be canceled if the member does not make at least one trip every six months, with award-ticket trips not counted [2].
  • Award tickets start at 1,200 Reward Points in Smart on short routes, and a change of date or departure time costs €10 per passenger per leg [2].

What you will be able to do after this course

  • Say which of the two regulations governs membership, levels and cards, and which governs points, redemption and inactivity.
  • Enroll, keep your single Italo Più code and personal area in order, and withdraw without surprises.
  • Judge which purchases earn points, when the code has to be given, and when nothing is credited.
  • Read the award-ticket table and the conditions attached to a redemption, and place yourself on the 12-month level clock.

Step 1: What Italo Più is and who it suits

You will learn: which document runs the program, how long it lasts, and what kind of travel it is built around.

ITALO – Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori S.p.A. runs the loyalty program “Italo Più” [1]. Two regulations sit behind it: the program regulation, which sets participation, the Italo Più cards and the levels, and the prize-operation regulation for the sixth edition, which declares the program regulation an integral part of itself and which members must accept under the program regulation [1] [2]. Membership has no end date, but ITALO may interrupt the program at any moment [1]. The 2026–2027 edition runs from 29 April 2026 to 30 May 2027, subject to extensions that will be announced, and every point credited but unused on 30 May 2027 is eliminated [2].

The program is built around travel on Italo high-speed trains: Qualifying Points come from Italo high-speed tickets, Reward Points also come from other services and partner goods and services, and the prizes are award tickets, other services such as lounge access, and Cash Più [2]. It therefore suits people who buy Italo high-speed tickets for the routes Italo serves through the website or the app [2]. Readers should note the printed web addresses: the prize regulation points to www.italotreno.it for the Italo Più section, while the program regulation refers to www.italotreno.com [2] [1].

Step 2: Joining and keeping your account

You will learn: who can enroll, what the account needs, and what happens if you leave.

Any individual aged 18 or over at enrollment may join free through the site by completing the enrollment form, and taking part in the prize operation is also free and reserved to enrolled individuals of 18 or over [1] [2]. Members must give complete, up-to-date and truthful data; name, surname and date of birth cannot be edited in the personal area and are changed only on request to [email protected] from the address used at registration [1]. Each member may hold only one Italo Più code: if more are found, only the one from the first registration stays valid and points on the later codes are eliminated [1].

The personal area is reached through the site and the Italo apps or, “a pagamento”, through the Contact Center using the Italo Più code and the mobile number given at enrollment; the article prints a footnote marker after those words but no footnote text follows, so the amount and scope of that charge are not stated [1]. Withdrawal is free and possible at any time from the personal account or by email to [email protected], and from the moment ITALO receives it the member loses all accumulated points and the rights tied to the card and to the level reached; re-enrollment is allowed through the site, but the level and benefits acquired before withdrawal are not restored [1]. Withdrawal from the prize operation takes effect 15 working days after the request, loses all points collected and unused, and also amounts to withdrawal from the program [2].

Step 3: Earning points

You will learn: when to give your code, what each euro earns, and what earns nothing.

The Italo Più code must be given at the moment of buying the travel document or up to three minutes before the train's departure; otherwise the points are no longer recognized [1], and without the code no points are credited at all [2]. Points for Italo tickets and other services are recognized only for purchases made through the website and app sales channels [2]. Each euro including VAT spent on Italo high-speed tickets earns 1 Qualifying Point and 1 Reward Point, and each euro including VAT spent on other services earns 1 Reward Point; Reward Points also come from partners listed on the site [2]. The member who gives the code must be the person who uses the ticket, the goods or services bought from partners, or the other services [2].

Nothing is credited on free tickets, tickets later canceled or refunded, tickets received as a prize, tickets bought in promotional periods or with special fares or particular promo codes or through discount vouchers, tickets for travel within the same city or province, the amounts of a Cash Più purchase paid by converting points, and tickets that are not used [2]. Until 28 April 2027, a member who has put the date of birth in the profile receives 50 Reward Points on their birthday, starting from the first birthday after the date was entered [2]. Points on Italo tickets are credited after the travel date within 15 working days, other services within 15 working days of the linked travel date, the birthday bonus within 15 working days of the birthday, and partner points after the partner reports the purchase, up to 70 days [2]. Two tickets bought with the same code for the same train, or for trains whose departure times make it objectively impossible to use both, earn points for one journey only [2].

Step 4: Levels and qualifying points

You will learn: the consumer levels, how the 12-month clock works, and what an upgrade benefit requires.

The consumer levels are Member, Premium, Privilege and Privilege Plus, each with its own Italo Più card [1]. The level is updated every 12 months after the enrollment date, a period called the qualifying period: at its end the member is assigned the level matching the Qualifying Points earned, the related benefits are applied and the points are reset to zero, with counting starting again in the next period [1]. A member who earns enough Qualifying Points during a period to reach the next level is granted that level automatically [1], and benefits of the previous period that are unused at their expiry date are lost [1].

Reaching or keeping Premium takes at least 1,500 Qualifying Points in each qualifying period, Privilege 6,000 and Privilege Plus 15,000 [1]. The Upgrade di Ambiente benefit (Smart to Prima Business) requires the ticket to have been bought at least one day before departure and a request from two days before and up to two hours before departure, subject to availability and only where the member is the sole traveler on the ticket code; once the level's allowance is used, upgrades can still be bought under Italo's purchase conditions [1]. Level-based access to the Italo Club lounge at the departure station also exists, where available, with its own conditions [1].

Step 5: Keeping and spending Reward Points

You will learn: how long Reward Points survive, what an award ticket costs, and which conditions travel with it.

Reward Points are valid from crediting until the end of the edition, including any extension, provided the member is not inactive, that is, provided the member makes at least one trip every six months (counted from 29 April 2026 for members already enrolled, or from the enrollment date for new members); ITALO may cancel the Reward Points of inactive members [2]. The program regulation states the same six-month test differently: ITALO may exclude members who do not make at least one trip every six months in each qualifying period [1]. Under both texts, trips made on award tickets are not counted [1] [2]. Awards are requested from the personal profile on the site or app; once the request is completed the choice cannot be changed, the points are deducted and they are not re-credited even if the member gives the prize up [2].

Award tickets in Reward Points by class and distance
ClassShort routesMedium routesLong routes
Club Executive2,5003,0003,500
Prima Business1,4002,0002,600
Smart1,2001,6002,100

The distance bands are printed as short routes “inferiori o uguale ai 330km”, medium routes “comprese tra i 330km e i 660 km” and long routes “superiori o uguali ai 660 km”, so as printed a journey of exactly 330 km or exactly 660 km falls inside two bands at once [2]. From 29 April 2026 to 31 December 2026 a Club Salotto award, valid for up to four people, costs 7,000 Reward Points on short routes and 10,000 on medium and long routes, and is open only to Privilege, Privilege Plus, Corporate Privilege and Corporate Privilege Plus members [2]. Award tickets cannot cover travel that combines Italo high-speed service with other carriers, and a journey with a change onto a different train requires two separate award requests [2].

  • An award ticket is valid 180 days from issue, with no extension [2].
  • No compensation or refund of the points is due if the award ticket is not used or is canceled [2].
  • An award ticket can never be upgraded, and no seat can be selected with it [2].
  • Changes of date and departure time cost an extra €10 per passenger on the ticket code, per leg; route or travel-class changes are not allowed [2].
  • A passenger name change is allowed at Italo ticket offices in stations for an extra €10 per passenger on the code, at most once a day and five times per calendar month [2].
  • A lost or stolen award ticket is not reissued; award tickets earn no Reward Points; availability may be limited on some days and routes; resale or transfer is prohibited [2].

Cash Più converts part of the balance, at purchase only, into a variable reduction of an Italo ticket price: it needs at least 200 points to unlock, uses a minimum of 100 points in multiples of 100, and works only on the website or app for Italo high-speed tickets, not combined with other transport modes [2].

Step 6: Your first concrete action

You will learn: the five things to do now that you know how the program works.

  1. Enroll online if you are 18 or over, and add your date of birth to the profile so the birthday bonus can start [1] [2].
  2. Give your Italo Più code on every purchase made on the website or app, at the latest three minutes before departure [1] [2].
  3. Take at least one trip every six months on a paid ticket, because trips made on award tickets do not count [2] [1].
  4. Note the date your qualifying period starts: it runs 12 months from your enrollment date [1].
  5. Plan redemptions before 30 May 2027, and use any award ticket within 180 days of issue [2].

What this course does not cover

  • Lounge rules beyond the fact that a level benefit and a 600-point Accesso Lounge award exist; the lounge guide covers the conditions.
  • The terms of the co-branded Italo American Express credit card, which the program regulation leaves to the issuer.
  • Corporate convention details beyond the sentence that corporate levels exist for employees of companies with an agreement.
