COURSE

Start here: Malaysia Airlines Enrich — join, earn, redeem, keep your Enrich Points and reach Elite status

Enrich is the travel and lifestyle loyalty and frequent flyer programme of Malaysia Airlines, and the Enrich Terms and Conditions form its basis [1]. Members earn Enrich Points to spend and Elite Points that are tracked for Elite tier status only [1]. This course takes a new member through six short steps and sends them back to the rules and to the guides that cover each step in depth.

Facts checked: 19 October 2026

Key takeaways

  • Enrich Points are the currency members spend; Elite Points count only towards Elite tier status and cannot be redeemed, transferred, extended, purchased, sold or given to another member [1].
  • Enrich Points are valid for three years from the year earned and expire at the end of the month in the third year [1].
  • Malaysia Airlines may change programme rules or benefits with or without prior notice, even where changes affect the value of Enrich Points already accumulated, and may terminate the programme at any time [1].
  • An account with 36 continuous months of inactivity is closed automatically, and a closed account is not reinstated [1].

What you will be able to do after this course

  • Describe what Enrich is, what the two point counters are for, and which travellers the programme is built around.
  • Join with a conforming personal email address and know what the enrolment rules require of you.
  • Read a fare-based earning statement and recognise the flights and fares that do not earn.
  • Check the redemption rules before you spend Enrich Points, and diarise expiry and inactivity limits.
  • Find the requalification figures the terms give for Silver, Gold and Platinum, and know where the deeper guides sit.

Step 1: What Enrich is and who it suits

You will learn: what Enrich is, what its terms allow Malaysia Airlines to change, and which travellers it is built around.

Enrich is the travel and lifestyle loyalty and frequent flyer programme of Malaysia Airlines, and the Terms and Conditions form its basis [1]. Malaysia Airlines may change the programme rules or benefits from time to time with or without prior notice, even though such changes may affect the number of Enrich Points that may be accrued or the value of Enrich Points already accumulated, and it reserves the right to terminate the programme, or any part of it, at any time with or without notice [1].

The sale or barter of Enrich Points, Enrich Awards or other benefits is prohibited and results in those items being forfeited or cancelled, with the account liable to suspension or closure and forfeiture of Enrich Points and Elite Points [1]. Any taxes imposed by a government or governing body as a result of programme participation are the member's responsibility [1], and the terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia [1]. Enrich suits travellers who fly Malaysia Airlines, Firefly or oneworld airlines: the terms describe earning Enrich Points and Elite Points on Malaysia Airlines, oneworld Alliance and Firefly flights, and earning Enrich Points with Enrich Airline Partners [1].

Go deeper: Start here: airline miles for how mileage currencies work generally, and the oneworld guide for the alliance whose airlines appear throughout the Enrich terms.

Step 2: How to join

You will learn: who may enrol, what a valid account looks like, and what a new member can claim.

Membership is free and open to anyone aged two and above in countries and territories where such programmes are legal, and anyone under 18 must have evidence of parental or legal guardian consent before enrolment is considered [1]. Acceptance is at the sole discretion of Malaysia Airlines, whose decisions are final, and corporations and other legal entities cannot enrol [1]. A member may hold only one Enrich account, which is not transferable, and registration requires a valid email address; temporary or disposable addresses are not allowed [1]. Where more than one membership number is assigned, duplicate accounts are closed and valid Enrich Points merged into a single account [1]. On enrolment a member receives the benefits and recognition of Enrich Blue membership [1].

Enrich Points accrue after enrolment, but a new member may claim for qualifying flights on pure Malaysia Airlines operated flights taken within 30 days before enrolment; retroactive claims for oneworld, Enrich Airline Partner or non-airline activity before enrolment are not allowed [1]. Effective 01 March 2022, members receive 500 Bonus Enrich Points on their first flight activity on Malaysia Airlines or Firefly pure flights within 12 months from the date of enrolment [1]. An account once closed will not be reinstated; a former member may re-enrol as a new member, but activity and Enrich Points in the closed account are not transferred [1].

Step 3: How earning works

You will learn: what Enrich pays on, what never earns, and when points appear.

There is no minimum Enrich Points guarantee, and points accrue only once per activity once the journey is completed; once credited they are non-refundable and non-reversible [1]. Members must quote their Enrich membership number at reservation and present the signed membership card at check-in, or points will not be credited [1].

On Malaysia Airlines, earning is based on eligible fare paid and carrier-related charges excluding government-imposed taxes and fees, for completed travel in Economy, Business and Business Suite on pure Malaysia Airlines operated flights and Malaysia Airlines marketed/Firefly operated codeshare flights, effective 1 April 2021 [1]. The base is MYR 1 earning 1 Enrich Point, with additional bonus points according to Enrich Tier Status and an applicable multiplier, and base fare excludes discount vouchers and online promo codes [1]. No Enrich Points are earned on booking classes not listed in or excluded from the Malaysia Airlines Mileage Accrual Table (including U, I, W, E, X and T), charter flights in the MH8000 series, freighter flights in the MH6000 series and Twin Otter aircraft, nor on infant fares, complimentary tickets, Travel Award tickets, travel industry rebated tickets and tickets issued with ATR as the mode of payment, airline staff tickets, competition prize tickets or tickets acquired at an auction [1].

On oneworld airlines and Enrich Airline Partners, Enrich Points are earned on qualifying services and products based on distance and class travelled according to the respective airline accrual table, and each partner may apply different qualification criteria that the member must check before buying a ticket [1]. Elite Points are credited after the flight is completed, expected within 7 to 14 days on Malaysia Airlines, oneworld Alliance (including MH9000 codeshare) and Firefly flights, and booking classes that do not earn Enrich Points do not earn Elite Points [1]. For the cash portion of a Points + Cash award ticket, the terms state 1 TEP for a flown sector irrespective of cabin class, effective 01 August 2023 [1].

Step 4: How to redeem Enrich Points

You will learn: who may redeem, what an award ticket requires, and what the points services cost and allow.

Only the member may request redemption of Enrich Points from their own account, and a member under 18 must have prior written consent from a parent or legal guardian [1]. Enrich Points for a Travel Award must come from a single account and cannot be combined across accounts, and points are deducted when the award is issued rather than when the reservation is made [1]. Awards are subject to availability, fares, passenger demand and seasonality, and the member pays all charges including Sales and Services Tax, fees, carrier charges and surcharges at ticket issuance, booking and/or departure [1]. Redemption on Malaysia Airlines is available on the Enrich website, malaysiaairlines.com, the Malaysia Airlines Global Contact Centre and ticket offices, and points are redeemed per sector, per member, from the respective membership account [1]. A Points + Cash Travel Award is available only on pure Malaysia Airlines flights and needs a minimum of 1,000 Enrich Points, and the cash portion earns Enrich Points on the MYR fare paid while the points portion earns none, with 1 Elite Point on a Points + Cash Travel Award ticket in this section, while the Elite Tier Status section gives 1 TEP per flown sector for the cash portion [1]. Codeshare flights, stopover and open jaw flights, and ancillaries such as seats, meals and insurance cannot be booked with Enrich Points, and there is no fixed relationship or conversion between a cash ticket price and the Enrich Points needed for a Malaysia Airlines Travel Award [1].

Points services are handled through the Enrich Online self-service portal only, not at the contact centre or ticket offices, require the member to be in good standing, are final and non-refundable, and do not count towards Elite Tier Status qualification [1]. Extension: points due to expire within the next three months can be extended 12 months from the original expiry at MYR 0.085 with no minimum amount, and reactivation of points that expired within the last three months gives 12 months from the transaction date at MYR 0.085 with no minimum [1]. Transfer: to a nominated Enrich member account active in status, online only, minimum 1,000 and maximum 500,000 per transaction in increments of 1,000, at MYR 0.055 with 12 months of validity, leaving at least 100 Enrich Points in the sending account [1].

Step 5: Status and keeping your Enrich Points

You will learn: how long each counter lasts, and what the terms state about requalification and inactivity.

Enrich Points are valid for three years from the year they are earned and expire at the end of the month in the third year, and members can monitor expiry in their Enrich Online account [1]. Elite Points are tracked for the sole purpose of calculating qualification towards Elite Tier Status and may not be used for redemption or transferred, extended, purchased, sold or given to another member [1]. Managing Your Account states that Elite Points are valid only in the calendar year they are earned, expire at the end of that year, are not accumulative and may not be carried forward into the next calendar year [1]. Section 8, Enrich Tier Carry Forward, states separately that Elite Points are accumulated within a calendar year from 1 January through 31 December and reset to zero on 1 January, and that Elite Points earned in excess of the qualification requirement for renewal or upgrade may be carried forward once to the next calendar year, capped at 50% of the requalification requirement [1].

The Tier Carry Forward table, updated in line with revised Elite Status requirements effective 1 January 2026, gives standard requalification of 35 Elite Points for Silver, 70 for Gold and 140 for Platinum, with maximum carry forward of 18, 35 and 70 respectively [1]. The membership term of an Elite Tier Status is the year in which the member qualifies plus 1 January to 31 December of the following year, and failure to requalify each year results in reclassification to the next lower membership tier [1]. Elite Tier Purchase is available only to eligible Standard Tiers, not to Complimentary or Spouse Tiers, through Enrich Online only, for the next higher tier only and never the highest tier, at a rate set by the membership tier and processed by default in Malaysian Ringgit, and purchased Elite Points are valid only for the current qualifying year, cannot be carried forward, and are final and non-refundable [1]. An account with 36 continuous months of inactivity is closed automatically [1].

Step 6: Your first concrete action

You will learn: the first five things to do as a new Enrich member.

  1. Join free with a valid personal email address, one account per person and no temporary or disposable address, using the official Enrich Terms and Conditions page as your reference [1].
  2. If you took a pure Malaysia Airlines operated flight in the 30 days before joining, submit the Enrich Points claim for it [1].
  3. Quote your Enrich membership number at reservation and present the signed card at check-in, then check that Enrich Points and Elite Points post after each flight; Elite Points are expected within 7 to 14 days [1].
  4. Note that Enrich Points expire at the end of the month in their third year, and that 36 continuous months without activity closes the account automatically [1].
  5. Before redeeming, check that you hold enough Enrich Points for every sector, since points are redeemed per sector, per member, and Points + Cash needs at least 1,000 Enrich Points [1].

Next: read the Enrich programme hub for every page about the programme, grouped by task.
