How to earn Malaysia Airlines Enrich elite status
Malaysia Airlines Enrich elite status is the three-tier recognition scheme of Enrich, the travel and lifestyle loyalty programme of Malaysia Airlines, with Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers that a member reaches by collecting Elite Points within a calendar year. [1] [4] For Elite Points earned in 2026, the thresholds applied to the 2027 membership year are 35 Elite Points for Silver, 70 for Gold and 140 for Platinum. [5]
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- Enrich places Silver, Gold and Platinum above its entry-level Blue tier, and qualification is measured in Elite Points rather than a separate status credit. [4]
- Elite Points accumulate from 1 January to 31 December and reset to zero on 1 January of the following year. [4]
- From Elite Points earned in 2026, the requirement rises to 35 Elite Points for Silver, 70 for Gold and 140 for Platinum, up from 30, 60 and 100. [5]
- Unused Elite Points above the renewal requirement can be carried forward, capped at 50% of the requalification requirement. [4]
How does Enrich elite qualification work?
Enrich counts qualification in Elite Points, which the programme defines as the points that track a member's progress towards Silver, Gold and Platinum. They cannot be used to redeem awards, and Bonus Points do not count towards tier qualification. [4]
Elite Points are calculated from the zone flown — the sector distance in miles, measured as Ticketed Point Mileage — together with the cabin: Business Suite, Business or Economy. [5] Members earn them on Malaysia Airlines flights, on oneworld Alliance flights including MH9000 codeshare services, and on Firefly flights. [5] Where the flight is on a oneworld member airline, Premium Economy is treated as Economy and First Class as Business Suite for the Elite Points calculation. [5] Booking classes that do not earn Enrich Points do not earn Elite Points either, and flights with non-oneworld or other partner airlines remain ineligible. [5] The programme terms also refer to "oneworld Minimum Sector Rules" as part of the eligibility rules for qualification and re-qualification to Elite Tier Status. [4]
Each qualification year is the calendar year: Elite Points accumulate from 1 January to 31 December and reset to zero on 1 January of the following year. [4] The status itself is held for the year in which the member qualifies plus the period from 1 January to 31 December of the following year. [5] Points are credited on the travel date rather than the booking date, so flights flown on or after 1 January 2026 earn under the revised structure. [5] On a Points + Cash award, the cash portion earns 1 Elite Point for each flown sector regardless of cabin, effective 1 August 2023. [5]
Elite Points earned above the requirement for renewal or upgrade may be carried into the next calendar year, capped at 50% of the requalification requirement. [4] Excess points can be carried forward once only, and the amount posted on 1 January is final even if a later missing-points claim changes the member's tier. [4]
How many Elite Points do Silver, Gold and Platinum require?
| Tier | 2026 membership year (earned in 2025) | 2027 membership year (earned in 2026) | Maximum carry forward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | 30 | 35 | 18 |
| Gold | 60 | 70 | 35 |
| Platinum | 100 | 140 | 70 |
The revised requirement applies to Elite Points earned in 2026 and decides the tier for the 2027 membership year, while flights flown by 31 December 2025 continued to use 30, 60 and 100 for 2026. [5] A member holding 120 Elite Points as of 31 December 2025 therefore meets the 100-point Platinum requirement and keeps Platinum for the whole 2026 membership year. [5]
Principal AmBank Enrich Visa credit cardholders have the requirement reduced by 30%: 25 Elite Points for Silver, 49 for Gold and 98 for Platinum, with maximum carry forward of 13, 25 and 49 respectively. [4] [5] That card is available only to Malaysian citizens and residents, and Malaysia Airlines states that no general status match programme has been announced. [5]
What benefits do Enrich tiers include?
- Baggage and priority handling. From 1 January 2026, Silver members receive 10kg of extra baggage allowance and priority baggage handling. [5]
- Digital cards. The Silver card and the Platinum Companion card are issued digitally and reached through the Malaysia Airlines mobile app from 1 January 2026. [5]
- Lounge guest rule. From 1 January 2026, only the principal Platinum member may bring one guest into eligible lounges; the Platinum Companion's lounge access is limited to the cardholder. [5] A complimentary Golden Lounge access e-voucher can also appear as a milestone reward (see below). [4]
- Platinum Companion. One Enrich member above 12 years of age, in good standing, may be nominated by the principal Platinum member, and both accounts are aligned to the same status and expiry date; the companion can be changed only on the companion's death. [5]
- Platinum Points. Enrich Points earned while a member holds Platinum do not expire even after reclassification to a lower tier, whereas new points earned from the lower tier onwards follow the standard three-year validity from the month they are credited. [5]
- Mid-Tier Booster. Reaching a milestone of cumulative Base Points inside the current tier unlocks an extra reward, which may be Enrich Bonus Points, Elite Bonus Points or a complimentary Golden Lounge access e-voucher; Elite Point rewards last within the same calendar year and the other rewards for one year from issue. [4]
Status also lifts the Enrich Points earned on spending. For flights from 1 January 2026, every RM1 spent on Malaysia Airlines and Firefly flights earns a multiplier of 1.8 for Silver, 2.2 for Gold and 2.5 for Platinum, against 1.5 for Blue members. [5]
Benefits such as priority services and baggage allowance apply only when flying Malaysia Airlines; on Firefly the standard Firefly baggage allowance applies and Enrich benefits may not be aligned. [5] Airport lounge options in Kuala Lumpur are covered in the KLIA lounge guide and the Golden Lounge page.
Does oneworld recognise Enrich status?
Alliance recognition sits alongside Enrich qualification rather than inside it, and the benefit changes described above are dated 1 January 2026. [5] From that date, the additional Silver benefits Malaysia Airlines introduced apply only when a member flies Malaysia Airlines; when travelling with another oneworld member airline, Silver members continue to receive the standard oneworld Ruby benefits associated with Silver status. [5] How those alliance benefits compare across carriers is set out in the oneworld guide.
Exceptions and limits
- No automatic extension. Malaysia Airlines states that automatic status extensions will not be offered; members who fall short can keep earning Elite Points or use bonus Elite Points from tactical promotions. [5]
- Current status is protected to card expiry. A member's existing Elite status remains valid until the card expiry date, and existing Enrich Points keep their validity; updated multipliers apply only to points earned from flights flown on or after 1 January 2026. [5]
- Milestones must sit inside the current tier. A Mid-Tier Booster reward is not triggered by a higher milestone met outside the member's tier, and after a tier change the accumulated Base Points unlock at the first accrual activity under the new status. [4]
- Elite Points are not transferable. They may not be redeemed for awards and cannot be transferred, extended, purchased, sold or given to another member. [4]
- Inactivity closes the account. An Enrich account with 36 continuous months of inactivity is closed automatically, and a closed account is not reinstated. [4]
Frequently asked questions
How many Elite Points do I need for Enrich Silver?
For the 2027 membership year, based on Elite Points earned in 2026, Silver requires 35 Elite Points and Gold requires 70. Members who earned their tier from 2025 flights were assessed at 30 and 60. [5]
What happens to my Elite Points if I do not re-qualify?
Elite Points reset to zero on 1 January of the following year, and no automatic extension is offered. Part of the excess above the renewal requirement can be carried forward once, capped at 50% of the requalification figure. [4] [5]
Do Enrich Silver benefits work on other oneworld airlines?
Not for the additional Silver benefits: those apply only on Malaysia Airlines, while travel with other oneworld member airlines gives the standard oneworld Ruby benefits linked to Silver status. [5]
Do Firefly flights count towards Enrich Elite Points?
Yes, Elite Points are earned on Firefly flights as well as Malaysia Airlines and oneworld Alliance flights. Status benefits such as priority services and baggage allowance, however, apply only when flying Malaysia Airlines. [5]
Can I buy or move Elite Points between accounts?
No. Elite Points cannot be redeemed for awards and cannot be transferred, extended, purchased, sold or given to another member. [4] Points pooled between accounts under Enrich Points Pool do not apply to Elite Points. [4]
