How to use Taoyuan Airport lounges

Taoyuan Airport lounges are the airline-operated and third-party lounges that travellers use at Taoyuan International Airport in the Taiwan Region of China, airport code TPE [6]. This guide is limited to Taoyuan, and it treats Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 separately rather than assuming that a rule, a rate or an invitation works the same way in both.

Facts checked: 18 October 2026

Key takeaways

  • This page covers lounges at Taoyuan only; nothing here is extended to other Taiwanese airports or to lounges elsewhere.
  • Access is not assumed to be identical in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, so each terminal has to be checked on its own terms.
  • Use of a contract lounge by an airline that is not based at Taoyuan is not assumed; confirm the arrangement for your specific airline and terminal.
  • EVA Air's published programme pages cover tier upgrades, renewals and mileage validity, but they do not state which tiers, if any, carry lounge access at Taoyuan [6] [8].

Why the two terminals are kept apart

A lounge listing is only useful if it is tied to the terminal a traveller actually departs from, and this page does not carry an access rule from Terminal 1 across to Terminal 2 or the other way round. An invitation that works at one terminal is not treated here as working at the other, and a condition published for one terminal is not generalised to the airport as a whole.

Terminal matters twice over. It decides which lounge a traveller can physically reach before a departure, and it decides which airline or operator is making the rules for that lounge on that day. Where a journey involves a change of terminal, the connection itself has to be planned before any lounge time is added; the Taoyuan transfer guide covers that part of the trip.

What to confirm before you fly

  • Terminal and concourse. Confirm the departure terminal for the flight on the date of travel, then confirm that the lounge you intend to use is in that terminal.
  • Who runs the lounge. Establish whether it is operated by the airline on the ticket or by another operator, because the admission rules follow the operator, not the traveller's expectation.
  • Access route. Ask which route is being relied on — cabin, tier status, a paid entry, a membership card or an invitation — and whether that route is open on the travel date. The lounge access checklist sets out the questions in order.
  • Guests and timing.
  • Same-day changes. If the flight is rebooked to a different terminal or date, treat the lounge arrangement as unsettled again until it is reconfirmed.

Third-party lounge networks are a separate access channel from an airline's own lounge, and this page does not treat the two as interchangeable; the same caution applies to contract lounge use by non-home airlines.

EVA Air rules that are published

EVA Air's Infinity MileageLands pages are the programme material checked here, and they set out a four-tier ladder — Green, Silver, Gold and Diamond — with upgrade and renewal requirements expressed as Status miles on qualifying international flights or as a number of qualifying EVA Air/UNI Air international flights within the current tier [8]. Silver, Gold and Diamond cards are valid for two years [8]. Flight sectors on Star Alliance member airlines cannot be credited toward membership upgrades and renewals [8]. Status miles accumulated between reaching an upgrade and the new card's effective date are retained for two years and count toward the next tier, but they do not count toward Diamond Card electronic upgrade certificate benefits [8].

On the mileage side, miles are valid for 36 months from the date of the flight or from the date a transfer from a partner system is requested, and miles that have expired lapse automatically without further notice [6] [7]. Members are required to show their membership card when using services or benefits, and EVA Air may stop providing member services if the card cannot be shown or the member's identity cannot be confirmed [7]. When a membership ends, the account is not kept and the accrued miles and electronic upgrade certificates become void [7]. Whether any of these tiers carries lounge access at Taoyuan is not stated in these pages, so membership of the programme is not presented here as an access route [8].

Exceptions and limits

  • Contract lounge use is not assumed. An airline that is not based at Taoyuan is not assumed to send its eligible passengers to another carrier's lounge, and no such arrangement is described here.
  • Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 differ. Access conditions are treated as terminal-specific, and no rule is carried between them.
  • Unpublished details stay blank.
  • No test reported. Nothing on this page is based on a visit to any lounge.
