Which cards are in the Atmos Rewards family?
Alaska's programme announcements describe three Atmos Rewards-branded credit cards, all issued through Bank of America, N.A. [6] [5]
| Card | What is documented |
|---|---|
| Atmos Rewards Ascent Visa Signature | The rebranded Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card; account numbers and benefits continue unchanged, and eligible Atmos Rewards Visa cardholders have access to a free checked bag, the Companion Fare and 3x points on eligible Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines purchases. [6] Bank of America lists it as the Atmos Rewards Ascent Visa Signature Alaska Airlines Credit Card. [2] |
| Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite | Co-branded with Bank of America; earns 1 status point for every $2 spent on purchases and has an annual fee, with perks that include a Global Companion Award redeemable on partners and in premium cabins, accelerated points and status earning potential, and Alaska Lounge passes. [6] |
| Atmos Rewards Visa Business | The rebranded Alaska Airlines Visa Business card, with the same benefits and earning power as before the rename. [6] A refresh is planned for late 2026 with 10x points on eligible purchases through Atmos Rewards for Business, lounge passes and free same-day confirmed flight changes. [5] |
Alaska Airlines Visa cards were rebranded as Atmos Rewards Visa cards, and current cardholders receive an Atmos Rewards-branded card with the new name and design when their current card expires. [6]
How do the cards earn points and status points?
Points and status points are earned on flights with Alaska, Hawaiian and their partners and through routine purchases with the Atmos Rewards Visa credit cards; points are used for redemptions while status points track progress toward status and milestones. [6] Members earn points for purchases made with any Atmos Rewards Visa card. [4]
Earning rates differ by card. The Summit card earns 1 status point on purchases. [6] Alaska describes the Summit card as one of the fastest ways to earn enhanced status, with status points earned through everyday card spend and accelerated earn for international purchases. [5] Eligible Atmos Rewards Visa cardholders earn 3x points on eligible Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines purchases. [6]
Card earning sits outside the flight-earning choice. Members can select how they earn points and status points on flights departing on or after 1 January 2027, from distance travelled, price paid or segments flown, and that choice affects flights only, with credit card and partner earning staying the same. [4] [3] Everyday card spend also feeds the wider choice between co-branded earning and transferable currencies covered in co-branded cards vs transferable points.
What airline benefits come with the cards?
Alaska describes its suite of Atmos Rewards Visa credit cards as giving members access to travel benefits such as free checked bags, preferred boarding and companion benefits. [5] Eligible Atmos Rewards Visa cardholders have access to select benefits across both Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, including a free checked bag, the Companion Fare and 3x points on eligible purchases with both airlines. [6]
Alaska's Famous Companion Fare became the Companion Fare when the cards took the Atmos Rewards name. [6] The companion benefit and its conditions are set out in the Atmos Rewards Companion Fare guide. On the Summit card, the Global Companion Award can be redeemed on partners and in premium cabins, and the card also includes Alaska Lounge passes. [6]
Exceptions and limits
- Issuer control. The credit card programmes are issued and administered by Bank of America, N.A., and terms and conditions apply to the cards and their benefits. [6] Card-level terms are the place to check annual fees, interest and benefit conditions; the related Atmos Rewards fees guide covers programme charges.
- Business card changes are future-dated. The 10x earning, lounge passes and same-day confirmed flight changes described for the Atmos Rewards Visa Business card are part of a refresh planned for late 2026, and Alaska said complete details would be available later in the fall. [5]
- Rebranding did not alter accounts. Account numbers remain the same across the rename, use of the cards and benefits continues without interruption, and cardholders do not need to take any action. [6]
- Flight-earning changes stop at flights. The choice of earning by distance travelled, price paid or segments flown applies to points and status points earned on flights, including Alaska, Hawaiian and partner flights, and does not change card earning. [3]
- Beyond credit cards. Alaska also plans an Atmos Rewards debit card for early 2027 that would earn points and status points and include flight and onboard purchase discounts, free points sharing, no foreign transaction fees and the ability to pay certain account fees with points. [5]
- Bank points transfers are planned, not live. In 2027 Alaska plans to let customers with eligible Bank of America card products transfer points into Atmos Rewards. [5]
