PROGRAMME PROFILE

JetBlue TrueBlue Credit Cards

JetBlue TrueBlue credit cards are co-branded credit cards that earn TrueBlue points, the currency of JetBlue Airways' TrueBlue programme, which members redeem for award flights on JetBlue and its airline partners. [5] [3] Points earned through the cards sit in the same TrueBlue balance used for award travel, and JetBlue counts credit card spending among the qualifying spend that can move a member toward Mosaic status. [4]

Key takeaways

  • TrueBlue points are earned by buying qualifying products from JetBlue, JetBlue Vacations or TrueBlue Travel, or by using a JetBlue co-branded credit card. [5]
  • Credit card spending forms part of the qualifying spend that JetBlue counts toward Mosaic status for the following calendar year. [4]
  • Mosaic 1 requires 50 tiles, Mosaic 2 requires 100, Mosaic 3 requires 150 and Mosaic 4 requires 250. [4]
  • Mosaic members can choose a one-time statement credit on selected JetBlue cards, redeemable once per Mosaic qualifying year. [4]

Which JetBlue cards does JetBlue name?

JetBlue's Mosaic help page names the Barclays JetBlue Plus World Elite Mastercard, the JetBlue Business Mastercard, the Barclays JetBlue Plus Card, the Barclays JetBlue Card and the Premier Card when it sets out cardholder benefits and the conditions attached to them. [4] On its earning page, JetBlue lists a JetBlue co-branded credit card alongside JetBlue purchases, JetBlue Vacations and TrueBlue Travel as a way of earning TrueBlue points. [5]

Points earned from a card are TrueBlue points and are spent the same way as points earned from flying or from travel partners, because JetBlue describes a single TrueBlue balance that members draw on for award flights. [5] [3]

How does card spending count toward Mosaic?

Mosaic refers to the top tiers of TrueBlue membership, and members qualify by earning tiles. [4] JetBlue states that all qualifying spend for the current year — whether travel spend, credit card spend or both — counts toward Mosaic qualification for the following year, and that earning enough tiles in the current year qualifies the member through the following calendar year. [4] Qualifying spend resets on 1 January, and tile balances reset to zero on 1 January of each year. [4]

What is the statement credit on JetBlue cards?

Among the Mosaic "Perks You Pick" options, JetBlue lists a one-time statement credit for the JetBlue Plus, Business Card or Premier Card. [4] The conditions JetBlue publishes for the credit are specific: it is available to Barclays JetBlue Plus World Elite Mastercard and JetBlue Business Mastercard cardmembers only, it can be selected after reaching Mosaic 1 status, and it can be redeemed once per Mosaic qualifying year. [4]

Moving from the Barclays JetBlue Plus Card to the Barclays JetBlue Card ends eligibility for the credit, and the statement credit appears 2 to 4 weeks after the member selects the benefit. [4] A card account is not eligible to receive the credit if it is closed or in default under the Cardmember Agreement at the time the benefit is fulfilled. [4]

How are TrueBlue points earned and spent?

Points earned on JetBlue-operated flights are based on the fare paid and eligible fees, less taxes and non-eligible fees, and the rate depends on the fare and on where the booking is made. [5]

To redeem, a member starts a flight search on jetblue.com or in the JetBlue app, selects the "Use TrueBlue points" checkbox, and the results show the points required for a 100% points redemption. [3] The number of points needed varies with destination, day of the week, season and advance booking window, and is based on the published base fare at the time of booking. [3] Cash + Points is offered on JetBlue-operated flights but not on award itineraries operated solely by partner airlines, which require a 100% points redemption. [3]

Exceptions and limits

  • Flights bought for someone else. A member cannot earn points for a JetBlue flight purchased for another traveller in TrueBlue. [5]
  • Booking channel. No bonus points are earned if JetBlue-operated flights are booked by phone or otherwise rather than on jetblue.com or the app. [5]
  • Missing points. Points for a JetBlue-operated flight can be requested through the member's account within 12 months of that flight; the time allowed for partner airlines varies by airline. [5] Points normally post up to 14 days after completed travel, or up to 30 days for non-air Paisly products. [5]
  • Redemption payments. A maximum of two forms of payment is allowed on redemption bookings, and taxes and fees must be paid when the award flight is booked. [3]
  • Points that do not earn tiles. Points that are bought, gifted or transferred can be used toward award redemptions but do not earn tiles. [3]
  • Base fares and status perks. Mosaic members still receive at least one free checked bag, a carry-on bag and early boarding on Base fares, but Base fares are not eligible for free same-day switches or standby, and Main Base and EvenMore Base fares are excluded from complimentary BlueHouse access. [4]
