PROGRAMME PROFILE
Kenya Airways Asante Rewards
Kenya Airways Asante Rewards is the frequent flyer programme of Kenya Airways, listed by SkyTeam among the programmes of its member airlines and referred to in SkyTeam's own footnote as Kenya Airways' Asante Program. [6] SkyTeam states that members of the Asante Program may not experience full Frequent Flyer reciprocity across all SkyTeam member airlines and directs them to check with the programme for details of the benefits they will actually receive. [6] [7]

Key takeaways
- Asante Rewards appears on SkyTeam's list of member airline programmes, and SkyTeam warns that Asante members may not receive full Frequent Flyer reciprocity across all member airlines. [6] [7]
- SkyTeam's general offer is alliance-wide: join one member programme, then earn and redeem miles with all SkyTeam member airlines, subject to the Asante warning. [6]
- Earning on a SkyTeam flight requires the airline shown on the ticket and the operating airline to both be SkyTeam members, plus a fare that qualifies for earning miles. [7]
- SkyTeam describes Asante membership and alliance benefits but does not publish Asante's enrolment steps, tier names, points earning rates, award prices or expiry rules. [6] [7]
Where Asante Rewards sits in SkyTeam
SkyTeam lists Asante Rewards alongside the frequent flyer programmes of its member airlines, in a list that also includes Flying Blue, SkyMiles and LotusMiles. [6] The same list, and the alliance's earn-and-redeem page, carry a footnote naming Kenya Airways' Asante Program and stating that its members may not experience full Frequent Flyer reciprocity across all SkyTeam member airlines, with the advice to check with the programme itself. [6] [7]
SkyTeam's headline promise is broader than that footnote: sign up for one member programme and earn and redeem miles with all SkyTeam member airlines, while also earning status miles that count towards SkyTeam Elite and SkyTeam Elite Plus. [6] Read together, the alliance-wide rule is the norm and the Asante warning is the stated exception, so a Kenya Airways member should confirm benefits with the programme before relying on them on another carrier. [6] [7]
SkyTeam also notes that frequent flyer benefits vary with the member's status and the airline being flown, and offers a Loyalty Benefits Calculator for checking a specific combination of programme, tier and operating carrier. [6] SkyTeam says the calculator is for information only, without warranty of completeness or accuracy, and that a frequent flyer number should be entered in the booking before flying. [6]
Earning on a SkyTeam flight
SkyTeam's earning rule has two conditions: the airline shown on the ticket, called the marketing carrier, and the operating airline must both be SkyTeam members, and the fare bought must be one that qualifies for earning miles. [7] Members are directed to their own programme's website to check whether a booking qualifies and how many miles it will produce. [7]
In practice the number is given when reserving or checking in on a qualifying SkyTeam flight, and the miles are then credited automatically. [7] If a flight has already been flown without credit, the claim goes directly to the member's own programme rather than to SkyTeam, and SkyTeam asks members to allow 14 days from the flight date for miles to post. [7] Boarding passes and ticket receipts should be kept until the miles appear, and a missing-miles claim needs trip details such as the boarding pass and e-ticket number. [7]
What a partner programme publishes for Kenya Airways flights
Because partner accrual is set by the programme doing the crediting, a published partner table shows how much a Kenya Airways flight is worth outside Asante. Vietnam Airlines' LotusMiles publishes a Kenya Airways (KQ) earning table on its Vietnamese-language pages, with the coefficients applying from 15 April 2025. [4] Those figures credit LotusMiles accounts, not Asante accounts. [4]
Under that table, business class booking classes J and C earn a mileage multiplier of 2.00 and a segment multiplier of 1.00; I and D earn 1.50 and 1.00; Z earns 1.00 and 1.00. [4] In economy, Y and B earn 1.25 and 0.50; M, U, K and H earn 1.00 and 0.50; L, Q, T, E and N earn 0.75 and 0.50; V, R, G and W earn 0.50 and 0.50. [4]
LotusMiles counts a Kenya Airways flight for its members when the flight is operated by Kenya Airways and carries a KQ flight number on the ticket, or when it is operated by Vietnam Airlines or another SkyTeam member airline but still carries a KQ flight number on the ticket. [4] The rate therefore turns on the booking class and on the flight number shown on the ticket, so the same route can earn at different rates. [4]
Tier benefits through SkyTeam Elite and Elite Plus
SkyTeam describes two alliance-wide tiers. Elite members are offered an extra 10 kg of baggage allowance, or one additional bag where the piece concept applies, plus priority check-in, priority baggage drop-off, priority seating, priority boarding, priority airport standby and priority waitlisting. [6] On sold-out flights, SkyTeam says Elite passengers are treated equally regardless of which programme they belong to and rank ahead of non-Elite customers in the class they want. [6]
Elite Plus raises the baggage allowance to an extra 20 kg and adds lounge access when travelling on an international flight operated by a SkyTeam member airline, or on same-day transfers between flights operated by two SkyTeam members, with one guest allowed provided the guest is on the same SkyTeam-operated flight. [6] Elite Plus also brings SkyPriority recognition, priority at transfer desks, priority baggage handling, fast-track security and immigration lanes where available, and a guaranteed full-fare economy seat on long-haul international flights of six hours or more that are sold out in economy, booked at least 24 hours before departure. [6]
Two limits apply. SkyTeam says available priority services may vary by airport, and repeats that Asante members may not receive full reciprocity across every member airline. [6]
Exceptions and limits
- Programme mechanics not covered here.
- Reciprocity. The alliance-wide earn-and-redeem promise is qualified for Asante members by SkyTeam's footnote, which says full Frequent Flyer reciprocity may not apply across all member airlines. [6] [7]
- Fare conditions.
- Claim timing. SkyTeam asks members to allow 14 days for posting and to claim with their own programme. [7]
- Airport variation. Priority services may vary by airport, and the Loyalty Benefits Calculator is published for information only, without warranty of completeness or accuracy. [6]
- Scope of the LotusMiles figures. The multipliers above are LotusMiles terms for LotusMiles members, apply from 15 April 2025, and do not describe Asante earning. [4]
