PROGRAMME PROFILE

Royal Air Maroc Lounge

Royal Air Maroc lounge access is the entry that the airline's Safar Flyer elite tiers give to its VIP lounges, described on Royal Air Maroc's own status pages as a benefit of Gold and Platinum membership. [3] [6] Gold members are offered access to VIP lounges in airports served by Royal Air Maroc with a guest of their choice [3], and Platinum members are offered VIP lounge access with a guest as well [6]. Neither page names an individual lounge or gives its location. [3] [6]

Key takeaways

  • Royal Air Maroc lists VIP lounge access among the airport benefits of its two top Safar Flyer tiers, Gold and Platinum, each with a guest of the member's choice. [3] [6]
  • The Silver benefits page does not list lounge access for Silver members; lounges appear there only in a preview of Gold benefits. [5]
  • Gold is described as equivalent to oneworld Sapphire and Platinum as equivalent to oneworld Emerald, and the Platinum page says Emerald status includes access to Business and First Class VIP lounges across the oneworld network. [3] [6]

Who gets in, by tier

Gold. Safar Flyer Gold is reached with 35,000 Status Miles or 30 Status flights in one calendar year, running from 1 January to 31 December, and the total must include at least 17,500 Status Miles and/or 10 Status flights on flights marketed and operated by Royal Air Maroc. [3] The Gold benefits page lists "access the VIP lounges in airports served by Royal Air Maroc with a guest of your choice" among the airport advantages of the tier. [3]

Platinum. Platinum requires 75,000 Status Miles or 75 Status flights in the same calendar year, including at least 37,500 Status Miles and/or 20 Status flights on flights marketed and operated by Royal Air Maroc. [6] The Platinum page offers VIP lounges with a guest of your choice and says the airline provides "private lounges in over 90 airports worldwide". [6]

Silver. Silver is reached with 20,000 Status Miles or 15 Status flights, including at least 10,000 Status Miles and/or 2 Status flights on flights marketed and operated by Royal Air Maroc. [5] Lounge access is not part of the Silver benefit list; the Silver page mentions lounges only when it previews Gold, describing "access the VIP lounges on your Royal Air Maroc flights with a guest of your choice". [5]

oneworld status and lounge access

Tier equivalents. Safar Flyer Silver entitles the member to Ruby status benefits on 15 oneworld member airlines [5], Gold is stated to be equivalent to oneworld Sapphire [3], and Platinum to oneworld Emerald with the alliance's 15 member airlines [6].

Emerald. The Platinum page says the Emerald equivalent brings "the most exclusive benefits on the entire oneworld Network, such as Fast Track service and access to the Business and First Class VIP lounges". [6]

Sapphire. The Gold page says oneworld status symbols let a member "always benefit from the advantages which are due to you" when flying Royal Air Maroc or another oneworld airline, but it does not itemise the lounge entitlement attached to Sapphire. [3] This profile therefore states no Sapphire lounge rule beyond what the Gold page says about Royal Air Maroc's own lounges. [3]

Domestic-only itineraries.

Cabins, paid entry and locations

Paid entry. The airline's French-language site lists "Loft: Lounge + Fast Track" among the extras offered alongside additional baggage, seat selection and upgrades [4]

Exceptions and limits

  • Two wordings for Gold. The Gold benefits page ties lounge access to "airports served by Royal Air Maroc", while the Silver page's summary of the same Gold benefit says "on your Royal Air Maroc flights" [3] [5]; the pages do not reconcile the two, so the scope that applies to a given trip is not settled by them. [5]
  • Platinum benefit limited to Royal Air Maroc flights. A footnote on the Platinum page states that access to VIP lounges is granted exclusively on flights marketed and operated by Royal Air Maroc [6], which is narrower than the same page's description of Emerald lounge access across the oneworld network. [6]
  • One guest, conditions unstated. Gold and Platinum each describe one guest of the member's choice [3] [6]; the pages do not say whether the guest must be travelling on the same flight, or how children are counted. [3] [6]
  • The tier has to be held. Each page also sets annual thresholds for keeping the tier that carries the benefit: Gold at 32,000 Status Miles or 28 Royal Air Maroc flights [3], Platinum at 70,000 Status Miles or 70 Status flights [6], and Silver at 18,000 Status Miles or 13 Status flights [5], each with minimum Status Miles or Status flights on Royal Air Maroc-marketed and operated flights.
