Sixt Platinum Status: benefits and eligibility
Sixt Platinum is the third of the four status tiers in SIXT ONE, the rewards programme run by car-rental company Sixt, and it begins at 4,000 status points. [1] Platinum members are quoted up to 15% off with member rates, earn 20% more rental points and are listed as eligible for free upgrades. [1]
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- Sixt Platinum sits inside SIXT ONE and starts at 4,000 status points, above Gold at 2,000 and below Diamond at 6,000. [1]
- Status points and rental points are two separate balances: status points set the tier, and rental points are the balance redeemed for savings in the Sixt app. [1]
- Rentals shorter than 28 days earn 1 status point and 1 rental point per €1 of qualifying spend; rentals of 28 days or longer earn 1 of each per €4. [1]
- Status is kept until the end of the following calendar year after it is achieved, while status points expire at the end of the year in which they are earned. [1]
- The listed benefits are available at participating locations in 13 named countries; outside those markets Sixt mentions discounts only. [1]
What is Sixt Platinum status?
SIXT ONE membership is free. A customer signs in or creates an account at sixt.com or in the Sixt app, accepts the programme terms and selects Join now; membership is active immediately and Sixt emails the member's status tier and benefits. [1] Sixt runs four tiers: Silver on joining, Gold from 2,000 status points, Platinum from 4,000 and Diamond from 6,000. [1]
Status points are earned on the qualifying spend of rentals and are described by Sixt as the measure that unlocks higher tiers, member-only offers, bigger discounts and, where available, free upgrades and Diamond Lounge access. [1] The table below shows how Sixt compares the tiers. [1]
| Tier | Status points needed | Member discount | Rental point bonus | Car choice after Mobile Check-in |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | On joining | Up to 8% | — | Up to 2 cars |
| Gold | From 2,000 | Up to 10% | 10% more | Up to 3 cars |
| Platinum | From 4,000 | Up to 15% | 20% more | Up to 3 cars, eligible for free upgrades |
| Diamond | From 6,000 | Up to 20% | 30% more | Up to 3 cars, free upgrades, Diamond Lounge access |

What benefits does Sixt Platinum include?
Sixt lists the following for Platinum: up to 15% off with member-only rates, 20% more rental points, member-only offers, skip the counter, a choice from up to three cars after Mobile Check-in, and eligibility for free upgrades. [1] Gold shares the three-car choice and the skip-the-counter option but is quoted at up to 10% off and a 10% rental point bonus. [1] Diamond is the tier Sixt describes with free upgrades outright, alongside Diamond Lounge access and a 30% rental point bonus. [1]
Gold, Platinum and Diamond members receive member rates when logged in and booking in the Sixt app or on sixt.com. [1] Member rates apply only to qualifying personal car and truck rentals, cannot be used for business bookings and cannot be combined with other promotional offers, although member rates and rental point redemption can be used on the same booking. [1] The general mechanics of tier benefits across rental companies are set out under car-rental loyalty tier benefits.
How do you earn status points towards Platinum?
For short-term rentals of less than 28 days, Sixt awards 1 status point and 1 rental point for every €1 of qualifying spend; for long-term rentals of 28 days or longer, the rate is 1 status point and 1 rental point for every €4. [1] Qualifying spend is the rental price excluding taxes, fees and charges. [1] Because SIXT ONE calculates points in euros, spending in other currencies is converted at the exchange rate on the invoicing date, and points are credited within 48 hours. [1]
Qualifying rentals are car and truck rentals, short or long term, booked for pickup at participating Sixt locations through the Sixt app, sixt.com or an approved third-party site for business rentals using the member ID. [1] Rentals booked for pickup at non-participating locations, replacement rentals, and rentals under SIXT plus, SIXT ride or SIXT share do not qualify. [1] Rentals completed before a customer joins SIXT ONE earn no points. [1] Members who choose to collect a partner programme's rewards instead of Sixt rental points still receive status points on qualifying rentals. [1]
Sixt uses a calendar-year approach for status and points: status is maintained until the end of the following year after it is achieved, so a member who reaches Gold in November 2026 keeps that tier until December 2027. [1] Status points are valid until the end of the year in which they are earned, and expired status points are deducted from the balance annually. [1]
How is status different from a points currency?
Sixt separates the two: status points unlock tiers and the benefits attached to them, while rental points are a spendable balance redeemed in the app for savings on bookings. [1] The two balances also age differently — status points expire at the end of the year in which they are earned, whereas rental points are valid for 24 months from the end of the quarter in which they were earned, with expired rental points deducted quarterly. [1]
Rental points can only be redeemed in the Sixt app and apply only to the base rental rate (time and mileage); they cannot be put towards taxes, fees, protection packages or add-ons, and cannot be combined with vouchers, business rentals, truck rentals or partner rewards. [1] Members may choose to earn rental points with Sixt or with a partner programme, with Sixt as the default; the preference is changed in the SIXT ONE section of the account and applies to future rentals only, because partner rewards are not awarded retroactively. [1] So a tier is a standing benefit attached to the account, while rental points are a currency consumed at the point of booking. [1]
Exceptions and limits
- Country scope. The listed benefits are available exclusively for rentals at participating locations in the United States, Canada, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Monaco, excluding overseas territories; discounts may also be available for rentals in other countries. [1]
- Business use. Business customers can join SIXT ONE and collect points on both business and private rentals, but points can only be redeemed for private rentals. [1]
- Member rate limits. Member rates apply only to qualifying personal car and truck rentals and cannot be used for business bookings or combined with other promotional offers. [1]
- Rental point limits. Redemption happens only in the app, only against the base rate, and not alongside vouchers, business rentals, truck rentals or partner rewards. [1]
- Upgrade wording. Sixt lists Platinum as eligible for free upgrades and lists Diamond with free upgrades, so the Platinum entry is the more conditional of the two as published. [1]
- Expiry. Status points lapse at the end of the earning year and rental points 24 months after the end of the earning quarter. [1]
