How to book EgyptAir Plus award flights
EgyptAir Plus award tickets are redemption tickets booked with EgyptAir Plus miles on flights operated by EgyptAir or by Star Alliance partner airlines, with the miles needed set by destination region and class of service. [7] Miles are deducted from the Main Member's account, taxes and additional expenses are paid separately and are non-refundable, and an issued award ticket is valid for 12 months. [7]

Key takeaways
- Award tickets can be booked on EgyptAir-operated flights and on any Star Alliance airline partner, and all of them are subject to limited award seats. [7]
- Miles are deducted from the Main Member's account even when the ticket is issued for another passenger, and a one-way award costs 50% of the round-trip amount in the award table. [7]
- Taxes and surcharges are extra and non-refundable, while changing a reservation costs the equivalent of USD 50 on international flights or USD 15 on domestic flights, with one free change per ticket for Elite and Platinum members. [7]
- An award ticket lasts 12 months and cannot be extended; an unused ticket can be refunded against 5% of the miles deducted. [7]
How are EgyptAir Plus award tickets priced?
EgyptAir Plus prices award tickets from a table built on from-and-to region pairs, and the number of miles depends on the destination and the class of service requested. [7] The regions used in the table are Middle East, Europe 1, Europe 2, Gulf Countries, North Africa, East & West Africa, Southern Africa, Indian Continent, South East Asia, Central Asia & Far East, North America, Central America & Caribbean, South America, Hawaii, and Australia & New Zealand & Oceania. [7] The region calculator is stated to apply to direct flights only, and members travelling on connections are asked to contact the EgyptAir call center for the miles required. [7]
| Question | Rule |
|---|---|
| What sets the price? | The destination and the class of service requested [7] |
| Round trip or one way? | Amounts in the award table are calculated for round-trip tickets, and a one-way ticket is 50% of the round-trip amount [7] |
| More than one flight? | Miles are deducted for each sector [7] |
| Connecting itineraries | The region calculator covers direct flights only; otherwise contact the EgyptAir call center [7] |
EgyptAir reserves the right to change the award table without prior notice and says it will use best efforts to tell members before a change takes effect. [7]
Can you use EgyptAir Plus miles on Star Alliance flights?
Yes. Reward tickets can be issued and booked on operated EgyptAir flights as well as on any Star Alliance airline partner, and both are subject to availability because the number of award seats on each airline's flights is limited. [7] For bookings made with Star Alliance carriers, a ticketing time limit applies: when the booking is made more than 96 hours before departure, the ticket must be issued within 72 hours, and when the booking is made less than 96 hours before departure, it must be issued within 24 hours. [7]
Award seats sit in dedicated booking classes, with X used for economy class, I for business class and O for first class. [7] EgyptAir advises members to request awards as early as possible and to avoid changes once the booking is in place. [7] The partner award booking checklist covers the general steps for mixing programmes and carriers.
How do you book an EgyptAir Plus award ticket?
EgyptAir Plus membership is open to individuals aged 18 or over as Main Members, and each individual may hold only one membership and one account, with duplicate accounts liable to be cancelled. [5] The member must personally request the award, either through online booking on the EgyptAir website, at an EgyptAir worldwide sales office, through a General Sales Agent (GSA), or through the EgyptAir call center. [7]
- Check that the Main Member's account holds the miles required, because the ticket is issued against miles deducted from that account. [7]
- Find award space for the route and cabin you want; EgyptAir may impose periods in which no award tickets are available, and awards may not be available on all flights at all times. [7]
- Request the award through one of the channels above; a member may issue award tickets for themselves or any other passenger without a maximum limit during the year, as long as the award balance allows and seats are available. [7]
- Confirm the booking at the point of issuance, since award ticket bookings must be confirmed when the ticket is issued; you may be asked to complete an Award Authorization Form. [7]
- Pay the taxes and additional expenses, which include airport facility fees, international departure fees and surcharges, and are non-refundable. [7]
- Check the passenger name before the ticket is issued, because the name cannot be changed afterwards and the ticket cannot be used by anyone else. [7]

What do changes, refunds and taxes cost?
Taxes and additional expenses are never part of the miles price: they are paid by the member and are non-refundable. [7] As of 18 October 2026, EgyptAir publishes a change fee equivalent to USD 50 for international flights and USD 15 for domestic flights, paid at EgyptAir sales offices, with one free change of reservation per award ticket for Elite and Platinum members. [7]
| Item | What applies |
|---|---|
| Taxes and additional expenses | Paid by the member; non-refundable [7] |
| Change of reservation | USD 50 equivalent for international flights, USD 15 equivalent for domestic flights, paid at EgyptAir sales offices [7] |
| Elite and Platinum members | One free change of reservation per award ticket [7] |
| Re-routing | Valid award miles are re-credited against payment of the applicable refund fees and a new award ticket is issued [7] |
| Refund of an unused ticket | Refunded against 5% of the miles deducted, provided the miles are still within their validity period [7] |
| Partly used ticket | Remaining unused sectors are non-refundable [7] |
| Refund deadline | Apply through an EgyptAir sales office within one year of the date of issue [7] |
| Ticket validity | 12 months from the date of issue, unless otherwise stated; cannot be extended, and expired tickets are not refunded, replaced or extended [7] |
| Airline cancels the flight | The member is moved to the next flight on the same or an available carrier where seats are available, based on the booking class on the ticket [7] |
Refunded miles are re-deposited to the account from which they were withdrawn. [7] Award tickets that are not used in full, or that are re-routed, follow the same refund-fee logic, and airline award taxes and surcharges explains why the cash portion is usually the part you cannot recover.
Exceptions and limits
- Award tickets are not available for infants, while the miles required for children's award tickets are the same as for adults. [7]
- Award tickets must be used in order: itineraries cannot be abandoned or used in reverse order. [7]
- Flights taken on an award ticket do not earn any type of miles, and award segments do not count towards tier qualification. [7]
- EgyptAir may stop issuing award tickets to certain destinations during the year, restrict or suspend award usage periodically, and withdraw, replace or substitute award tickets at any time without notice. [7]
- Awards redeemed with miles are not for sale and cannot be exchanged for any form of payment, and an award ticket has no cash value. [7]
- Miles spent on upgrades are a separate product with separate conditions: on EgyptAir, a reward upgrade applies only to paid tickets issued in fares Y, B, H, M, Q or K, moves the passenger to the next higher class only, and must be requested no less than 24 hours before the scheduled departure. [4]
- Star Alliance upgrade awards are booked online only, cannot be waitlisted, and have carrier-specific deadlines, such as 56 days before departure for ANA and the day of travel for Asiana. [6]
