How to earn and book SAS EuroBonus SkyTeam awards
SAS EuroBonus and SkyTeam is the link between SAS's EuroBonus loyalty programme and the SkyTeam airline alliance, covering how members earn EuroBonus points on partner-marketed flights and how they spend those points on partner award flights. [3] [5] On Aerolíneas Argentinas-marketed flights, earning depends on travel class, booking class and distance, and Silver, Gold and Diamond members receive 25%, 50% or 75% more Bonus points. [3]
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- EuroBonus members can earn and use points on flights with the SkyTeam partner Aerolíneas Argentinas, at rates set by travel class, booking class and distance flown. [3]
- Silver members earn 25% more Bonus points on those flights, Gold members 50% more and Diamond members 75% more. [3]
- Partner awards use fixed point prices by destination and travel class, and a one-way trip costs 60% of the round-trip price. [5]
- SAS and other SkyTeam airlines can be mixed in one booking, with a partner booking fee of 250–950 SEK, 250–950 NOK, 175–665 DKK or the equivalent in EUR per traveller. [5]
How do you earn EuroBonus points on SkyTeam partner flights?
EuroBonus is owned and operated by SAS EuroBonus AB, a wholly owned subsidiary of SAS AB, and the current member terms took effect on 1 September 2024. [4] For SkyTeam, SAS publishes partner earning rules on the Aerolíneas Argentinas page, where members can earn and use EuroBonus points on Aerolíneas Argentinas-marketed flights. [3] The EuroBonus number must be quoted correctly at the time of the activity for points to register, and SAS asks travellers to add it when booking or at check-in. [3] [4] Earning depends on the travel class, the booking class and the distance flown. [3]
SAS splits the calculation in two: Bonus points are the distance in miles multiplied by a bracket that adds the distance multiplier, the booking class multiplier and the distance multiplier times the membership-level booster, while Level points use the distance and booking class multipliers without the booster. [3] The multipliers published for Aerolíneas Argentinas-marketed flights are below. [3]
| Travel class | Booking class | Distance multiplier | Booking class multiplier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business | J, C | 150% | 50% |
| Premium Economy | D, I, W, S | 125% | 25% |
| Economy | Y, B | 100% | 0% |
| Economy | M, U, K, H, L, Q | 50% | 0% |
| Economy | T, E, V, N | 25% | 0% |
A booking class that does not appear in the table earns no points on that flight. [3] EuroBonus points are also not earned on SkyTeam-marketed flights that are operated by airlines outside the SkyTeam alliance. [3]
Codeshares follow a separate rule. When a ticket is bought on a flight marketed by SAS or a EuroBonus partner airline but operated by another carrier, the marketing airline decides whether and how many points are earned if that partner belongs to SkyTeam, and the booking class on the ticket may differ from the one used to calculate points. [4] If the partner is not a SkyTeam member, the operating airline makes that decision instead, and no points can be earned on flights operated by an airline that does not take part in EuroBonus. [4]
Earning follows the booking class originally booked and paid for, regardless of any upgrade or downgrade, unless SAS states otherwise. [4] Discount tickets such as industry discount, agent discount, award, standby and charter tickets, and certain other discounts, earn no points and do not count towards a higher membership level. [4]
What do Silver, Gold and Diamond add?
Membership level increases the Bonus points earned on Aerolíneas Argentinas-marketed flights: Silver members earn 25% more Bonus points, Gold members 50% more and Diamond members 75% more. [3] That booster applies to Bonus points, not to Level points. [3]
EuroBonus separates three categories: Level points count towards a higher level or a renewal but cannot be used for award trips, Bonus points can be used for award trips and other products but do not count towards an upgrade, and Qualifying flights are SAS-operated flights or selected flights operated by other airlines as listed on SAS's website that count towards upgrade or renewal. [4] The rules and benefits of the membership level in force at the time of the activity apply, so a level change between reservation and departure is settled at the level held on the departure date. [4] Points can be used once enough valid points are in the account and at least one point-qualifying activity has been completed in addition to welcome bonuses, and they stay valid for four years after the qualification period in which they were earned. [4] The tier rules themselves are set out on the EuroBonus status page.
How do you book SkyTeam partner awards with EuroBonus points?
Bonus points can be used for award flights with SAS and partner airlines, and SAS says the partner network offers award seats to more than 1,000 destinations on all continents. [5] Point prices are fixed by destination and travel class, the published tables quote round-trip amounts excluding taxes and carrier-imposed fees, and a one-way trip costs 60% of the round-trip price. [5] Award seats are limited and availability varies. [5] Three airlines charge double points: Air Europa, China Airlines and Vietnam Airlines. [5] The booking steps for SAS-operated awards are covered in how to book SAS EuroBonus awards.
SAS and other SkyTeam airlines can be combined in one booking, and travel classes can differ between the outbound and return flights but not within a single direction. [5] Stopovers longer than 24 hours are not allowed, there are no child discounts on award tickets, and a return from a different airport has to be arranged with SAS Customer Service. [5] Connecting flights from the Nordic countries to hubs such as Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo, Amsterdam, Paris and London can be added for a fee per traveller, and that fee is non-refundable. [5] One Amex 2-for-1 voucher may be used per booking, for a maximum of two travellers. [5]
The full fare is paid in points and taxes and fees are paid by card. [5] Those taxes, fees and any surcharges are charged separately and cannot be paid with points. [4] Points can only be used by the member personally or by their closest family, and travel agencies cannot issue tickets or vouchers in exchange for points. [4] The fees SAS lists for partner awards are: [5]
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Booking fee, partner airlines | 250–950 SEK / 250–950 NOK / 175–665 DKK / the equivalent in EUR per traveller, depending on the trip and travel class |
| Change or cancellation within Europe | 250 SEK / 250 NOK / 175 DKK per traveller |
| Change or cancellation, international | 750 SEK / 750 NOK / 525 DKK per traveller |
| Connecting flights from the Nordic countries to a major hub | Fee per traveller, non-refundable |
A service fee is added for bookings made by phone unless the booking cannot be made online. [5] Cancellation is free of charge within 24 hours of booking and the points are refunded, and after that a cancellation or rebooking must be made up to 24 hours before departure. [5] Booking fees are refunded when a flight is cancelled, but expired points and expired Amex 2-for-1 vouchers are not, and a refund can take up to seven business days. [5]
Exceptions and limits
- Award trips earn nothing. No EuroBonus points are earned on award trips. [5]
- Unlisted booking classes and outside-alliance operators. A booking class missing from the Aerolíneas Argentinas table earns no points, and no points are earned on SkyTeam-marketed flights operated by airlines outside the SkyTeam alliance. [3]
- Charter flights. On the Aerolíneas Argentinas page, SAS states that points can be used to pay for award flights except on charter flights. [3]
- Late credit. Travel and activities that took place more than six months ago cannot be registered online, and a new member can register SAS flights taken up to 30 days before the membership started. [4]
- Personal use and one programme per leg. Points and benefits are personal and cannot be sold, transferred, combined or inherited, and only one programme can collect for each flight leg, hotel stay or other activity. [4]
- Partner differences. Partner airlines may have different products and baggage rules. [5] SAS may update the rules and point prices. [5]
