GUIDE

Start here: Qatar Airways Privilege Club

Qatar Airways Privilege Club is the frequent flyer programme of Qatar Airways, in which members collect Avios on flights with Qatar Airways, oneworld airlines and partner airlines, spend them on award flights or upgrades, and collect Qpoints towards tier status. [2]

Facts checked: 18 October 2026

Key takeaways

  • Privilege Club runs on two separate currencies: Avios, which you spend, and Qpoints, which you collect on flights to move up tiers. [2]
  • Avios can be collected with Qatar Airways, oneworld airlines and partner airlines, as well as hotel, car rental, financial, retail and lifestyle partners. [2]
  • Four tiers — Burgundy, Silver, Gold and Platinum — carry different tier bonuses on eligible flights, extra baggage allowances and Qcredits. [2]
  • You can book awards for other people through Family & Friends or My List, but the two features have different rules and each carries a six-month lock-in. [3] [4]

What is Qatar Airways Privilege Club?

Privilege Club is the membership programme behind Qatar Airways tickets: members collect Avios when they fly or spend with partners, then use those Avios for award seats, cabin upgrades or part-payment of a ticket. [2]

The two balances do different jobs. Avios are the reward currency you redeem, and Qpoints are collected when you fly and are what moves you up a tier. [2] Gold and Platinum members also receive Qcredits, which can be redeemed for upgrades, excess baggage and similar extras. [2]

Membership is organised around four published tiers — Burgundy, Silver, Gold and Platinum. [2] The programme can also be linked to an ALL account so that members earn Avios and ALL Reward points on flights or stays. [2]

How do you join Privilege Club?

Sign-up happens on qatarairways.com: the join form asks whether your profile name matches the name in your passport and requires you to accept the terms and conditions of the Privilege Club programme. [2] Your membership number is the identifier used for invitations to lists and groups, so it is worth keeping the details on your profile accurate. [3] [4]

As of 18 October 2026 the programme page displayed a joining offer: enter the code JOINPC26 and earn up to 2,000 bonus Avios after your first flight. [2] Qatar Airways may change programme terms and benefits at any time, so confirm any joining offer directly with the airline before you rely on it. [4]

Three features unlock only once the account is 30 days old: creating a Family & Friends group [4], creating a My List [3], and linking the account to a British Airways Executive Club account. [5] New members therefore have a short waiting period before they can pool or move Avios. [3] [5]

How do you earn Avios and Qpoints?

On the flying side, Avios are earned with Qatar Airways, with oneworld airlines and with partner airlines. [2] Qpoints are collected when you fly and are the currency that progresses you through the tiers. [2]

Avios also arrive from hotel, car rental, financial, retail and lifestyle partners, and a Visa or Mastercard linked to the account collects Avios through card-linked offers with participating retailers. [2] If a flight or partner activity does not credit, the claim missing Avios route on qatarairways.com is how credit is requested. [2] Avios can additionally be bought, boosted, gifted or transferred. [2]

In the Family & Friends Programme, group members earn Avios through Qatar Airways and its partners, and everything they earn is added to the Main Member's account once travel is completed. [4] Group members earn base Avios only: the Main Member's tier does not add a bonus to their earning, and their activity earns no Qpoints. [4]

How do you use Avios?

Avios can be spent on award flights across the airline's network, on an upgrade to Business Class, and on part-payment of a ticket through Cash + Avios. [2] Cash + Avios uses Avios to save up to 50% of the cash amount on flight tickets purchasable with Qatar Airways. [5] Avios can also be spent at Qatar Duty Free, where paying with Avios saves up to 20%. [2]

Moving Avios out of the programme is possible where the accounts are linked: a Privilege Club member who is also a British Airways Executive Club member and has linked the two accounts can move Avios in either direction at a rate of 1:1, without a fee, and the Avios are credited immediately. [5] Avios have no fixed or par value and are not redeemable for cash. [5]

Avios are issued, redeemed and expire in accordance with the Privilege Club terms and conditions, so the spending rules and the expiry rules come from the same document. [5] The vocabulary used across programmes is collected in the frequent flyer glossary.

How does Privilege Club status work?

Qpoints are the status currency: they are collected when you fly and are what unlocks a higher tier. [2] The figures below are the benefits listed against each tier as of 18 October 2026. [2]

Privilege Club tier benefits, as of 18 October 2026
TierTier bonus on eligible flightsExtra baggageQcredits
Burgundy———
Silver25%15 kg, or one additional piece—
Gold75%20 kg, or one additional piece40
Platinum100%25 kg, or two additional pieces60

Tier bonuses apply to eligible flights, and the baggage allowance is expressed as either extra weight or an extra piece. [2] Burgundy, the entry tier, lists free Starlink Wi-Fi on board, 10% off Al Maha Meet and Assist services and lounges, and 15% off selected Oryx Airport Hotel spa, Hydrojet and golf simulator services. [2]

Silver lists priority check-in and boarding among its benefits, Silver, Gold and Platinum each list lounge access, and Platinum also lists better award ticket rates. [2] If status rather than lounge access is your focus, the companion guide to status and lounges explains how tier benefits work across programmes.

How do you plan a first award booking?

  1. Check availability first. The award flight finder on qatarairways.com shows award seat availability and is aimed at travellers with flexible dates. [2]
  2. Confirm you can redeem for the traveller. In Family & Friends only the Main Member may redeem Avios, and may do so for any group member. [4] A My List lets a member redeem Avios for up to four named individuals, restricted to Qatar Airways and partner award flights. [3]
  3. Know the wider booking rights at Gold and Platinum. Those tiers may book award flights for people on their My List and also for any other individual of their choice, online or through the Contact Centre. [3]
  4. Fill a shortfall with Cash + Avios. Part-paying a Qatar Airways ticket with Avios saves up to 50% of the cash amount. [2] [5]
  5. Sanity-check the numbers. My Calculator is provided to show what a balance of Avios and Qpoints could do. [2]
  6. Plan changes early. Changes and refunds on award tickets and Cash + Avios tickets are handled offline rather than online. [5]

Exceptions and limits

The rules on this page reflect the programme pages and terms reviewed on 18 October 2026; the account-linking terms took effect on 29 January 2025. [5]

  • Family & Friends limits. A Main Member may invite up to nine people, the group includes children over two years but not infants, and each member is locked in for six months during which they cannot leave or be removed. [4] A member who is already in a group, or is the Main Member of one, cannot start another. [4]
  • No Qpoints for group activity. Flight and non-flight activity by group members earns no Qpoints, and only base Avios are earned. [4]
  • My List limits. Only adults aged 18 or over may be invited, the list holds up to four people, members must stay for at least six months, and a member of an existing Family & Friends group cannot be added. [3] My List members cannot redeem Avios from the list owner's balance. [3]
  • Leaving a group. After the lock-in period, an adult who leaves a Family & Friends group keeps their existing membership number and begins an individual account at the Burgundy tier. [4]
  • Account linking limits. Only one Privilege Club account and one British Airways Executive Club account can be linked at a time, the personal details on both accounts must match, and a Privilege Club account can be linked a maximum of twice in any 50-year period. [5]
  • Changes to the programme. Qatar Airways may change the programme terms and its benefits at any time, and both programmes reserve the right to amend the linking terms. [4] [5]

Frequently asked questions

Can I pool Avios with my family?

Yes. The Family & Friends Programme lets a Main Member nominate up to nine people and pools the Avios they earn into the Main Member's account, and the Main Member then controls redemptions. [4]

How do I book an award flight for someone else?

Use Family & Friends, where the Main Member redeems for group members, or My List, where a member redeems for up to four named individuals on Qatar Airways and partner award flights. [3] [4]

Can I move Avios between Privilege Club and British Airways Executive Club?

Yes, once the two accounts are linked: Avios move in either direction at 1:1 with no fee and no minimum or maximum amount, and are credited immediately. [5] Only the Main Member of a Family & Friends group can move Avios to a British Airways Executive Club account. [5]

How do I reach Silver, Gold or Platinum?

By collecting Qpoints when you fly. [2] Each tier carries its own tier bonus on eligible flights: 25% at Silver, 75% at Gold and 100% at Platinum. [2]

Do Avios have a cash value?

No. Avios do not have a fixed or par value and are not redeemable for cash. [5]
