PROGRAMME PROFILE
Brilliant by Langham: hotel loyalty programme
Brilliant by Langham is the hotel loyalty and experience programme of Langham Hospitality Group, launched in 2024, in which members collect Award Points to spend on stays, dining and experiences and Status Points to move through five tiers from Onyx to Ruby. [5]
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- Brilliant by Langham runs five tiers — Onyx, Topaz, Diamond, Sapphire and Ruby — and Onyx is the entry tier with no minimum requirement. [5]
- Award Points and Status Points do different jobs: Award Points are spent on room, dining and experience redemptions, while Status Points only move a member up a tier. [5]
- Members earn 150 Award Points for every US$5 spent on rooms or dining, with the rate always calculated in US dollars. [5]
- The programme has announced a simpler membership structure and new privileges across stays, dining and spa from 12 January 2027. [1] [3] [5]
What are the Brilliant by Langham membership tiers?
The programme describes its five tiers as being inspired by precious stones and becoming progressively rarer and more valuable as a member ascends. [5] Onyx is described as the evergreen entry membership, and each higher tier is reached by accumulating Status Points. [5]
| Tier | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Onyx | No minimum requirement [5] |
| Topaz | 12,000 Status Points [5] |
| Diamond | 108,000 Status Points [5] |
| Sapphire | 360,000 Status Points [5] |
| Ruby | 720,000 Status Points [5] |
Members can move up a tier either by accumulating Status Points or through the programme's tier-matching route. [5] Status Points do not build up across years: they are reset to zero at the end of each membership year or deducted when a member upgrades a tier, and they cannot roll over into the next membership year. [5]
Available privileges vary by tier rather than being identical for every member. [5]
How do you earn Award Points and Status Points?
Members earn Award Points by spending on qualifying stays, eligible charges and eligible partnerships, and earn Status Points on qualifying stays and eligible charges. [5] The published base rate is 150 Award Points for every US$5 spent on rooms or dining, always calculated in US dollars. [5]
| Point type | Used for | Earned on | At the end of the membership year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Award Points | Redemptions and experiences [5] | Qualifying stays, eligible charges, eligible partnerships [5] | May be redeemed until 11 January 2028 under the points run-off arrangements [5] |
| Status Points | Tier progression [5] | Qualifying stays and eligible charges [5] | Reset to zero; no rollover [5] |
One reservation can cover more than one room: members can earn Award Points on up to three rooms per reservation, provided the rooms are booked under the same name and within the same hotel. [5] If two members share a booked room, they may earn points in proportion to the payments each of them makes, as long as they ask to split the bill at check-out and each meets the conditions that would apply if they were earning without sharing the room. [5]
Booking channel matters. Points are earned only on reservations made through the programme's website, mobile app or WeChat Mini-Program, not through third-party websites. [5] Members can also collect Award Points with qualifying partners and campaign promotions. [5] Topaz members and above can earn Bonus Award Points on eligible spending, an extra that is not available at Onyx. [5] Points usually take up to 10 business days to be processed. [5]
Corporate travel bookers have a separate published rate: they must be enrolled in the programme and make the booking through the hotel, and the FAQ lists 15 Award Points for every US$5 of eligible room revenue for those bookings. [5]
How do you redeem Brilliant Award Points?
Award Points can be redeemed when a member makes a room reservation or books a dining experience — online when booking a stay, and on site in restaurants and bars. [5] Eligible reward stays can also be paid with a combination of Award Points and cash through a Points Plus Cash Stay, subject to availability and the applicable booking conditions, and the option appears during booking where it is offered. [5]
Award Points are not open-ended. Under the programme's points run-off arrangements, they may be redeemed until 11 January 2028, subject to the programme terms and conditions. [5]
The programme also offers conversion of Award Points into airline miles. The conversion form on its FAQ page sets a minimum of 25,000 Award Points and a maximum of 150,000 points per request, accepts one request a day, deducts the points on submission and says miles reach the nominated frequent flyer programme in about six to eight weeks. [5]
Points and membership are personal: they are non-transferable and may only be used by and for the member, and transferring points to other members is not available. [5]
What member benefits does the programme publish?
The programme groups its published benefits into three areas. [1] [3] Stay privileges include member-only rates, room upgrade vouchers, early check-in and late check-out at participating hotels worldwide. [1] [3] Dining privileges include up to 15% savings at participating restaurants and bars worldwide. [1] [3] Members are also offered access to signature events, curated experiences and invitations reserved for them. [1] [3]
The experiences are built around four pillars: Gastronomy, Discovery, Wellness and Culture. [5] The brands named as participating in the programme are The Langham Hotels & Resorts, Cordis Hotels & Resorts, Eaton, Chelsea Hotel, Toronto, Ying'nFlo, Chuan Spa and Ming Court, Wan Chai. [5] The membership card is digital and is held in the member dashboard, the mobile app or the WeChat Mini-Program. [5]
Exceptions and limits
- Eligibility and accounts. Anyone aged 18 or over may join, provided they have not registered before, and membership is free; enrolment needs a valid email address and, for Chinese mainland only, a mobile number. [5] Membership is individual, so one person may hold only one account, and a name change after enrolment requires identity verification. [5]
- Property-level benefits. Member rates, upgrade vouchers, early check-in, late check-out and dining savings are described as applying at participating hotels, restaurants and bars, so availability is set property by property rather than programme-wide. [1] [3]
- Missing points. Claims must generally be submitted within six months of the transaction or check-out date, and for eligible activity completed on or before 11 January 2027 they must be submitted by 11 July 2027. [5] Stays with a stay or check-in date before 29 February 2024 are not eligible for retroactive claims. [5]
- Changes from 12 January 2027. The programme has announced that from that date Brilliant by Langham will introduce a simpler membership structure and new privileges across stays, dining and spa, with details on its Programme Updates page. [1] [3] [5] Tier thresholds, earning rates and benefits described on this page are those published before that change. [5]
- Closing an account. Cancellation is handled by the support team, which verifies the member's identity before closing the account. [5]
