Citi AAdvantage Executive: Admirals Club Membership With the Card
Citi / AAdvantage Executive is a Citi-issued, American Airlines co-brand credit card whose headline benefit is an Admirals Club membership [1]. Citi presents the product as the Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Legend Mastercard and describes it as the only card with Admirals Club membership, covering unlimited visits for the cardholder and up to 2 guests or immediate family members at more than 100 Admirals Club and partner lounges worldwide [1]. The card also earns AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points on spending, and carries annual statement credits toward American Airlines Vacations, Lyft rides, prepaid Avis and Budget rentals, and inflight and Admirals Club purchases [1].
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- The centrepiece is an Admirals Club membership: unlimited visits for the cardholder and up to 2 guests or immediate family members, at more than 100 Admirals Club and partner lounges worldwide [1].
- The card earns 4 AAdvantage miles per US$1 on eligible American Airlines purchases (5 per US$1 after US$150,000 of purchases in a calendar year), 12 per US$1 on eligible AAdvantage Hotels and AAdvantage Cars bookings, and 1 per US$1 on everything else, with no stated cap on miles [1].
- Up to three authorized users can be added for a $175 annual fee, then $175 for each additional user, and their purchases earn miles; the club language on the card page is written around the primary cardmember and does not describe separate club access for an authorized user [1].
Earning rates and Loyalty Points
Citi's card page gives three earning rates: 4 AAdvantage miles per US$1 on eligible American Airlines purchases, 12 AAdvantage miles per US$1 on eligible AAdvantage Hotels bookings and eligible AAdvantage Cars bookings, and 1 AAdvantage mile per US$1 on all other purchases [1]. Its FAQ ties the 12-mile rate to hotels booked through aadvantagehotels.com and eligible car rentals booked through aadvantagecars.com [1]. After US$150,000 of purchases in a calendar year, the American Airlines rate rises to a total of 5 miles per US$1 for the remainder of that year [1]. The page states that there is no maximum number of AAdvantage miles a cardholder can accumulate with the card [1].
Spending also feeds American's status currency. The card page says cardmembers earn 1 Loyalty Point for every eligible AAdvantage mile earned from purchases, plus a 10,000 Loyalty Point bonus on reaching 50,000, 90,000, 165,000 and 240,000 Loyalty Points in the same status qualification year [1]. The AAdvantage terms, shown as effective 1 March 2026 and updated 13 January 2026, set the qualification year as the 12 months starting on 1 March, with status valid from the moment it is reached through 31 March of the following year [5]. American's own status page describes tier benefits such as extra miles and Loyalty Points on eligible flights, free checked bags, boarding groups and complimentary upgrades, and notes that benefits may not be available on all flights or may vary by flight [3].
Admirals Club membership and guests
Citi values the membership at up to US$1,400 and describes it as the only card with Admirals Club membership [1]. As the card page sets it out, the membership includes unlimited visits for the cardholder, plus up to 2 guests or immediate family members, at more than 100 Admirals Club lounges and partner lounges worldwide [1]. The FAQ repeats the same allowance: access for the primary cardmember and up to 2 guests or immediate family members [1].
Two limits matter for planning. Second, the membership is written for the primary cardmember. The authorized-user terms on the same page cover the annual fee for up to three users and the miles earned on their purchases, and do not state that an authorized user receives club access in their own right [1]. Anyone who needs a second person to hold club access should confirm the position with the issuer rather than assume that adding an authorized user supplies it. For comparison, American's status-match page lists four Admirals Club lounge access passes every calendar year among the perks of the Citi / AAdvantage Globe card, a different product [6].
Other card benefits
- First checked bag free on domestic American Airlines itineraries for the cardmember and up to 8 companions on the same reservation [1].
- Up to US$100 back each calendar year on inflight and eligible Admirals Club purchases made with the card [1].
- Up to US$500 back each calendar year on eligible American Airlines Vacations purchases, split as up to US$250 for January to June and up to US$250 for July to December [1].
- A US$15 Lyft credit after three eligible rides in a calendar month, for up to US$180 a year [1].
- Up to US$120 back each calendar year on eligible prepaid Avis and Budget rentals booked directly on avis.com or budget.com [1].
- A statement credit of up to US$120 every four years toward the Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee [1].
- Omni Hotels Champion Status enrolment for primary cardmembers, with perks such as early check-in, late check-out and room upgrades subject to availability, and one Omni Free Night Award per calendar year after a stay of two or more consecutive nights booked directly on omnihotels.com [1].
- Travel protections listed as Trip Delay Protection, Common Carrier Trip Cancellation and Interruption Protection, Lost or Damaged Luggage coverage and MasterRental car rental coverage, and no foreign transaction fees [1].
Exceptions and limits
- Different companion numbers for different benefits. The club allowance is the cardholder plus up to 2 guests or immediate family members, while the free checked bag extends to up to 8 companions on the same reservation [1].
- Conditions on the credits. The inflight and Admirals Club credit requires paying with the card, the Avis and Budget credit requires booking directly on avis.com or budget.com, the Lyft credit requires three eligible rides in a calendar month, and the Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit is available every four years rather than annually [1].
- Authorized users. The fee covers up to three authorized users at US$175 a year, with US$175 a year for each additional user [1].
- The miles follow AAdvantage rules. Under the AAdvantage terms, all miles expire if the account has no qualifying activity in any 24-month period, and earning miles through credit card companies counts as qualifying activity [4]. Expired miles can be reactivated within 24 months of expiry for a fee of US$60 to US$2,000, up to 500,000 miles, and reactivated miles do not earn Loyalty Points or count toward tier qualification [4].
- New cardmember offer eligibility. Citi says the AAdvantage new cardmember bonus is not available to people who received a new account bonus for a Citi / AAdvantage Executive account in the past 48 months, or who converted another Citi card account on which they earned a new account bonus in the last 48 months [1].
- Terms can change. Citi marks the card benefits as subject to terms, and the AAdvantage terms state that American may change the programme, its rules and its awards at any time with or without notice [1] [5].
