PROGRAMME PROFILE

Korean Air lounges (KAL Lounge, Prestige Lounge, First Lounge)

The programme context for Korean Air members is the SKYPASS elite tiers and the integrated mileage programme that begins on 17 December 2026. [3] [6]

Facts checked: 18 October 2026

Key takeaways

  • Korean Air and Asiana keep operating their mileage programmes independently during the subsidiary period, with the integrated programme applied from 17 December 2026. [3]
  • The elite tiers named in the sources are Morning Calm Club, Morning Calm Select Club, Morning Calm Premium Club and Million Miler Club, with SKYPASS Club appearing as the entry tier in the sources' worked examples. [4] [6]

The programme the sources describe

Korean Air's mileage programme is SKYPASS, and the Asiana programme is referred to in the same pages as Asiana Club. [5] Korean Air says the two programmes continue to operate independently during the subsidiary period, and that the integrated mileage programme is applied from 17 December 2026, when the two companies are fully integrated. [3] The airline says the plan was finalised after approval from the Fair Trade Commission, having been announced in September 2025. [3]

Conversion uses two rates. Asiana flight-accrued mileage converts to SKYPASS mileage at 100 to 100, while Asiana partner-accrued mileage converts at 82 SKYPASS miles for every 100. [5] Converted mileage can be combined with mileage already held in the member's SKYPASS account. [5] Once the airlines are fully integrated, conversion is carried out on the Korean Air website through the "Asiana Mileage Dedicated Page". [5] The online calculator returns an estimate that may differ from the mileage actually converted, and any decimal fraction is rounded up when conversion takes place. [5]

Status tiers and what they are tied to

At integration, Asiana elite status is matched to a Korean Air tier while the existing elite member period is maintained: Asiana Platinum goes to Million Miler Club, Diamond Plus to Morning Calm Premium Club, Diamond Plus (Limited Term) and Diamond to Morning Calm Select Club, and Gold to Morning Calm Club. [6] The source describes Morning Calm Select Club as a new tier. [6] Where the member also holds Korean Air status, the higher of the matched tier and the existing tier becomes the final tier; the source's example is Diamond plus Morning Calm Club becoming Morning Calm Select Club. [6]

A second exercise follows later. Korean Air says elite status is re-evaluated when Asiana mileage is fully converted to SKYPASS mileage, by combining Asiana-operated flight mileage with existing Korean Air qualification mileage. [4] If the combined result is higher than the tier currently held, the member is upgraded to the reassessed tier; if it is the same or lower, the current tier and its validity period remain unchanged. [4]

Neither passage links a tier to lounge entry. [4] [6] The sources support the tier names and the matching rules, but say nothing about which, if any, of those tiers carries access to a Korean Air lounge. [4] [6]

Lounge questions the sources do not answer

  • Names, differences and locations. The sources do not use the names KAL Lounge, Prestige Lounge or First Lounge, do not explain what separates one from another, and do not state which airports or terminals Korean Air lounges occupy — at Incheon or at outstations — or whether any of them is run by Korean Air rather than a contract operator. [3] [4] [5] [6]
  • Eligibility and guests.
  • Practical detail. Opening hours, the departures a lounge serves and facilities such as showers or dining are not published. [3] [4] [5] [6]

The general concepts are covered elsewhere on the site and are not restated here: the SkyTeam lounge access explainer, the lounge guest policy term, the lounge access checklist and the premium cabin lounge term. For the programme itself, see the SKYPASS programme profile.

Exceptions and limits

  • Status matching is not an automatic upgrade. Where the matched tier is the same as or lower than the tier already held, the current tier and its validity period stay unchanged, [4] and where both tiers exist the higher of the two is final. [6]
  • Asiana benefits end at integration. After the integration date only Korean Air elite tiers are operated and Asiana elite benefits are no longer provided, although coupons and vouchers received with Asiana elite status before integration can be used until their expiry date. [6]
  • Two different milestones. Tier matching happens at the time of integration, whereas re-evaluation happens at the time of SKYPASS mileage conversion, so the two can fall on different dates. [4]
  • Conversion is not uniform. Flight-accrued and partner-accrued Asiana mileage convert at different rates, calculator output is an estimate, and decimal fractions are rounded up. [5]
  • No lounge exceptions can be stated. Because the sources publish no lounge rules, there are no published conditions, exclusions or guest exceptions to report for the KAL Lounge, Prestige Lounge or First Lounge. [3] [4] [5] [6]
