PROGRAMME PROFILE

KrisFlyer Gold Lounge: who gets in and how to qualify

KrisFlyer Gold lounges are the lounges named in the KrisFlyer Elite Gold benefit description, listed alongside Star Alliance lounges; the programme lists their use as a KrisFlyer Elite Gold benefit. [4] Elite Gold is reached by collecting 50,000 Elite miles within 12 consecutive months. [3] [4]

Facts checked: 18 October 2026

Key takeaways

  • Singapore Airlines lists lounge use as a KrisFlyer Elite Gold benefit, described as access to Star Alliance and KrisFlyer Gold lounges worldwide. [4]
  • Elite Gold requires 50,000 Elite miles inside 12 consecutive months, and the resulting membership lasts 12 months. [3] [4]
  • Status renews automatically if another 50,000 Elite miles are earned during the current membership period. [3]
  • Holding a credit, charge or debit card does not by itself give lounge access, whatever its type. [6]

Who can use the KrisFlyer Gold lounge?

The entitlement is listed under KrisFlyer Elite Gold, the tier above Elite Silver in the programme overview; PPS Club is presented separately. [4] The benefit summary describes it as use of Star Alliance and KrisFlyer Gold lounges worldwide. [4] Elite Gold is cumulative: the programme says it includes all Elite Silver benefits and all standard KrisFlyer benefits as well. [4]

Elite Silver sits one step below. Its published benefits are a 25% bonus on miles actually flown, priority airport check-in and boarding, extra free baggage allowance, and free standard seat selection in economy on Singapore Airlines; lounge use is listed one tier higher, with Elite Gold. [4] The full set of entitlement rules, tier by tier, is kept on the Singapore Airlines lounge access rules page.

How do you earn KrisFlyer Elite Gold?

Elite miles are the status credits used for Elite Silver and Elite Gold qualification and renewal, and are tracked separately from redeemable KrisFlyer miles. [6] They are earned on flights with Singapore Airlines, Scoot, Star Alliance partner airlines and selected other airline partners. [3] [6] From 1 September 2025, qualifying non-flight spend also earns Elite miles on KrisShop and Pelago transactions, on Kris+ transactions in Singapore, and on Kris+ transactions in Sydney and Melbourne. [6] Elite miles cannot be redeemed for awards, upgrades or airfares. [3] [6]

How long does Elite Gold last, and what resets it?

Elite Gold is valid for 12 months and renews for a further year if the member earns at least 50,000 Elite miles again during the current membership period. [3] The upgrade itself can take up to one day to process, and Elite miles earned before an upgrade do not count toward the next renewal cycle. [3]

Elite miles are reset to zero at the end of each membership year, which the terms define as 12 consecutive months starting from the date of upgrade or renewal. [6] That reset applies to qualification and renewal only; the balance is not a spendable miles pot. [6]

Does a credit card or basic membership get you in?

Card type does not create the entitlement. The KrisFlyer terms state that the type of credit, charge or debit card a member holds has no bearing on status and does not entitle the member to lounge access or to Star Alliance or Singapore Airlines associated benefits. [6] Access is listed as a tier benefit rather than a card benefit. [4] [6]

Membership is also strictly personal: a KrisFlyer membership cannot be transferred, sold or bartered, and only the member may use it. [6]

Exceptions and limits

  • PPS Club overlap. A member who qualifies for both PPS Club and Elite Gold is accorded PPS Club privileges, and the terms do not allow benefits and privileges for both programmes to be accumulated. [6]
  • Non-flight cap. Elite miles earned from Kris+, KrisShop and Pelago count only up to 10,000 toward an Elite Gold upgrade in a rolling 12-month period, or toward an Elite Gold renewal period. [6] The qualification guidance puts the same rule as a ceiling of 20% of the Elite miles required for the tier. [3]
  • Bonus miles excluded. Tier bonus miles and promotional bonus miles do not count as Elite miles. [3] [6]
  • Award tickets. Where a ticket is paid partly with KrisFlyer miles, Elite miles accrue only on the cash portion, excluding airport taxes, and a fare paid entirely in miles earns none. [3] [6]
  • One programme per flight. A member may credit a flight or transaction to only one frequent flyer programme, and miles credited to more than one programme are forfeited. [6]

Frequently asked questions

How many Elite miles do you need for KrisFlyer Elite Gold?

50,000 Elite miles within 12 consecutive months. [3] [4] Elite Silver, the tier below, needs 25,000 over the same window. [3]

Does a Singapore Airlines credit card get you into the KrisFlyer Gold lounge?

Not on the card alone: the terms say card type has no bearing on status and does not entitle a member to lounge access or Star Alliance and Singapore Airlines benefits. [6]

How long does KrisFlyer Elite Gold last?

Twelve months from the upgrade, renewable for another year if 50,000 Elite miles are earned during the membership period. [3]

Do Kris+ and KrisShop purchases count toward Elite Gold?

Yes, from 1 September 2025, qualifying Kris+ and KrisShop transactions earn Non-Flight Elite Miles, including Kris+ transactions in Singapore, Sydney and Melbourne, subject to the 10,000 Elite mile non-flight cap on Elite Gold upgrades and renewals. [6]
