PROGRAMME PROFILE
United Club: Lounge Programme Profile
United Club is the name United Airlines gives to its airport lounges, listed on united.com among the airline's products and services, and it is the name carried by a group of United co-branded credit cards. [3] [5] In United's MileagePlus Rules, lounge access is treated as one of the travel benefits a member can receive, and the rules place the obligation on the member to keep their MileagePlus number attached to the reservation for such a benefit. [3]
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- United's MileagePlus Rules list lounge access among programme travel benefits, and say a member receiving such a benefit must maintain their MileagePlus account number throughout the reservation, any reservation created from it, and the whole duration of the associated travel. [3]
- Benefits attached to Premier status are based on the member's status at the time of travel, not at the time the travel was purchased, booked or reserved. [3]
- The United Club Infinite and United Club Business cards are listed at 1 PQP per US$15 of eligible spend, and the United Club Card and United Club Business Card are each listed with a cap of up to 28,000 PQP for the calendar year. [5]
Lounge access as a MileagePlus benefit
United's MileagePlus Rules name lounge access in a list of travel benefits that a member may receive, alongside premium seating, fee waivers and additional baggage allowance. [3] The same rule says a member receiving benefits at booking, check-in, travel or any other point where programme benefits are provided must maintain their MileagePlus account number throughout the entire reservation and any subsequent reservation created from the original one, and for the entire duration of the original and future travel associated with those reservations. [3]
The rules also deal with companions who receive a benefit because of a member's status or allowance. If that member is no longer travelling on the original reservation, a companion travelling on the original reservation is no longer eligible for the Premier and other benefits obtained through the member's status or benefit allowance. [3]
Timing matters as well. Benefits associated with Premier status are based on the member's Premier status at the time of travel, not at the time the air travel is purchased, booked or reserved, and United's examples of those benefits are bonus miles, Premier Access, baggage allowance and upgrade benefits. [3] Lounge access is not among the examples given for that timing rule. [3]
What the checked pages do not do is set out which itineraries, cabins, status tiers or cards qualify for entry to a United Club, or how many guests a member may bring. [3] [5] Guest rules as a general concept are covered in lounge guest policy.
United Club cards in the Premier tables
United's Premier pages show how co-branded cards feed Premier qualification. Primary cardmembers earn 1 PQP per US$15 spent on the United Club Infinite and United Club Business cards, or 1 PQP per US$20 on all other PQP-eligible cards. [5] Each card has a different PQP limit for the calendar year. [5]
In the card tables, the United Club Card and the United Club Business Card are each listed with a cap of up to 28,000 PQP. [5] PQP earned on an eligible United card can be applied toward Premier status tiers up to and including Premier 1K, and can also be used to meet the PQP-only requirement for Premier 1K status, but the cardmember must still fly at least four segments on United- or United Express-operated flights to qualify for Premier status. [5]

Premier tiers and programme timing
Premier has four published levels, each requiring a combination of Premier qualifying flights and Premier qualifying points, or a higher PQP total alone, with at least four United or United Express flights taken. [5] Premier Silver requires 15 PQF and 5,000 PQP, or 6,000 PQP; Premier Gold 30 PQF and 10,000 PQP, or 12,000 PQP; Premier Platinum 45 PQF and 15,000 PQP, or 18,000 PQP; Premier 1K 60 PQF and 22,000 PQP, or 28,000 PQP. [5]
The qualification window is the full calendar year from 1 January to 31 December, and status is valid from the day the member qualifies to the end of the next programme year. [5] United gives a worked example: a member who reaches Premier in 2026 keeps that status until 31 January 2028. [5] The checked pages do not say which Premier levels, if any, carry United Club access. [3] [5]
United Club and Star Alliance partner lounges
United's rules describe Partners as airlines, banks, rental car companies, hotels and other independent entities, and state that United is not responsible for the nature or quality of products or services provided by Partners. [3] Partner offers are governed by the terms and conditions set out by the applicable Partner. [3]
That separation is why this profile keeps its scope to United Club material and does not fold partner-lounge entry into the United Club rules. [3] Star Alliance lounge access is governed by its own terms and is described on Star Alliance lounge access; the checked United pages do not set out Star Alliance lounge eligibility, guest allowances or the relationship between a United Club membership and partner lounges. [3] [5] A side-by-side view of lounge programmes generally sits in airline lounge memberships compared.
Exceptions and limits
- Benefits can change. United reserves the right to terminate the programme in whole or in part or to change rules, benefits and conditions of participation at any time, with or without notice, even where changes affect the value of status levels, benefits or miles already accumulated. [3]
- Misuse forfeits benefits. Abuse of the programme, failure to follow the rules or fare rules, fraudulent activity and misrepresentation are classed as prohibited conduct, and the remedies available to United include removal of accrued mileage and loss of other programme benefits. [3]
- Denied-benefit liability is capped. If United or a Partner improperly denies an accrual or benefit, liability will not exceed the equivalent value of that accrual or benefit as determined by United, or by the Partner as the case may be. [3]
- Card thresholds are annual and per card. PQP limits differ by card and run for the calendar year, and card-earned PQP does not remove the four-segment flying requirement for Premier status. [5]
- Not published in the checked pages. Only individual, not business, MileagePlus membership is generally available under the rules, with limited exceptions United may permit. [3]
