How to transfer ANZ Rewards points to partner programs
ANZ Rewards is the credit card loyalty program of Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited, and its Reward Points can be redeemed for points in partner programs including Velocity Frequent Flyer, KrisFlyer and Asia Miles. [2] The account holder must be a member of the partner program and enter those membership details online at the time of redemption, and minimum redemption thresholds apply. [2] [5]

Key takeaways
- The route works as a redemption of the account holder's own points: only the account holder may claim rewards, and Reward Points may not be transferred or sold. [1]
- ANZ requires the account holder to be a member of the applicable partner program and to enter those membership details online at the time of redemption. [2]
- Minimum redemption thresholds apply, and the points needed for each reward are listed on anzrewards.com. [1] [2]
- For Velocity, ANZ says to allow up to 5 business days for points to be allocated, and a completed conversion cannot be reversed. [2]
How do you redeem ANZ Rewards points for partner points?
Confirm the two eligibility points ANZ sets for this route before you start. Only the account holder may claim rewards, and additional cardholders on the card account are not entitled to claim them. [1] The account holder must also be a member of the applicable partner program, with the membership details entered online at the time of redemption. [2]
Claims are made through ANZ's own channels: the program terms list the ANZ App, ANZ Internet Banking and the ANZ Rewards Centre on 1300 367 763. [1] The rewards on offer, and the number of Reward Points each one requires, are set out on anzrewards.com. [1] All rewards are subject to availability and substitutions may be necessary. [1]
The deduction happens on the ANZ side first. Reward Points used to claim a reward are taken from the Points Record when ANZ receives the request, and the adjustment shows up on the next rewards statement. [1] If the card is suspended or the credit card account is in default, no rewards are claimable. [1]
This is a redemption task, not a card-portfolio decision, and the points come from the ANZ Rewards cards rather than the ANZ Frequent Flyer cards, which earn Qantas Points under separate ANZ terms. [2] The ANZ Rewards credit cards page sets out which cards sit in each family.
Which partner programs can you use?
ANZ names six partner programs for Reward Point redemptions: Velocity Frequent Flyer, KrisFlyer, Air New Zealand Koru, Asia Miles, Everyday Rewards and World360 Rewards. [2] [5] Each of them runs under its own rules, and ANZ points cardholders to the relevant partner terms. [2]
Two ANZ rules keep this separate from a transfer between people. Reward Points may not be transferred or sold, and rewards cannot be taken by pooling Reward Points held in different card accounts. [1] Reward Points are also not property, have no monetary value and can only be used to claim rewards. [1]
Once the conversion lands, the partner's terms take over. ANZ states that Reward Points redeemed for Velocity Frequent Flyer Points are governed by the Velocity Frequent Flyer Member Terms and Conditions. [2]
How long does an ANZ Rewards transfer take?
Velocity is the partner for which ANZ states a processing window: allow up to 5 business days for Velocity Points to be allocated to the member's account. [2] The points leave the ANZ side when the claim is received, and the deduction then appears on your next rewards statement. [1]
| Item | What ANZ states |
|---|---|
| Where to redeem | ANZ App, ANZ Internet Banking, or the ANZ Rewards Centre on 1300 367 763 [1] |
| Points deducted | When ANZ receives the claim request; shown on the next rewards statement [1] |
| Minimum redemption | Thresholds apply; ANZ points cardholders to anzrewards.com for details [2] |
| Velocity allocation | Up to 5 business days [2] |
| Reversal | Velocity Points already redeemed cannot be reversed [2] |
ANZ's card page also describes an auto-redemption setting that automatically transfers ANZ Reward Points to Velocity Points, which some ANZ Rewards Platinum card offers require new cardholders to switch on within 3 months of approval and keep on until the bonus Velocity Points are made available for redemption. [2]
Exceptions and limits
- Point expiry. Reward Points ordinarily expire within 36 months of 31 December of the year in which the point was added to the Points Record, and points left unused after expiry are canceled. [1]
- Closed card account. If the card account is closed, any unused Reward Points must be used within 90 days of the closure date, or they are canceled. [1]
- Program termination. If ANZ Rewards ends, ANZ notifies the termination and any claim for a reward must be made within 90 days of that date. [1]
- Additional cardholders. Reward Points earned on an additional cardholder's purchases accrue to the account holder's Points Record, and additional cardholders cannot claim rewards. [1]
- No way back. Unless ANZ advises otherwise, rewards cannot be returned for Reward Points to a Points Record, cashed in or exchanged. [1]
- Availability. Rewards are subject to availability and ANZ may substitute them. [1]
Frequently asked questions
Can I send ANZ Reward Points to someone else's frequent flyer account?
Only the account holder may claim rewards, and the account holder must be a member of the applicable partner program with membership details entered online at the time of redemption. [1] [2] ANZ's terms also say Reward Points may not be transferred or sold, and cannot be pooled across different card accounts. [1]
Do ANZ Frequent Flyer cards use this route?
No. ANZ lists ANZ Rewards cards, which earn Reward Points, separately from ANZ Frequent Flyer cards, which earn Qantas Points and require membership of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. [2]
How many ANZ Reward Points do I need for partner points?
ANZ says minimum redemption thresholds apply and directs cardholders to anzrewards.com, where the rewards and the number of Reward Points required to claim each one are set out. [1] [2]
What happens to Reward Points I never redeem?
They ordinarily expire within 36 months of 31 December of the year in which they were added to the Points Record, and are canceled if still unused after that. [1] If the card account is closed first, the unused points must be used within 90 days. [1]
