Atmos Rewards vs TrueBlue: earning, status and redemptions
Alaska Atmos Rewards and JetBlue TrueBlue are the loyalty programmes of Alaska Airlines and JetBlue, and the sharpest difference between them is how members earn: from 1 October 2026, Atmos Rewards members can choose between distance flown, price paid or segments flown for flights taken in 2027 [8], while TrueBlue points are earned per dollar of fare paid, with a higher rate for bookings made on jetblue.com or the JetBlue app [7].
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- Atmos Rewards members choose one of three earning methods — distance, price paid or segments — for flights taken in 2027, a choice that begins on 1 October 2026 [8].
- TrueBlue earns points per dollar of fare on JetBlue-operated flights: 3 points per dollar, or 1 point on Base fares, rising to 6 and 2 when the booking is made on jetblue.com or the app [7].
- TrueBlue elite status is called Mosaic and has four levels, reached with 50, 100, 150 and 250 tiles [6].
- A TrueBlue award on a JetBlue-operated flight can be paid with cash plus points, but an itinerary operated solely by a partner airline needs a 100% points redemption [5].
How do Atmos Rewards and TrueBlue earn points?
Atmos Rewards gives members a choice. Beginning 1 October 2026, members can select how they will earn points and status points on flights in 2027, from three published methods [8].
| Method | Published rate |
|---|---|
| Distance travelled | 1 mile flown = 1 point earned |
| Price paid | $1 spent = 5 points earned, excluding taxes and fees |
| Segments flown | 1 segment flown = 500 points earned |
Choosing is optional: a current member who does not pick a different method in 2026 keeps earning on distance travelled, and someone joining Atmos Rewards on or after 1 January 2027 earns on price paid unless they select an alternative [8]. Members can change their choice once per calendar year, for future trips only, and the choice applies to all Alaska, Hawaiian and partner flights [8]. It affects only how points and status points are earned on flights — credit card and partner earning stays the same as today [8].
TrueBlue earns per dollar. Points come from qualifying purchases with JetBlue, JetBlue Vacations, TrueBlue Travel or a JetBlue co-branded credit card, and on JetBlue-operated flights the rate is based on the fare paid plus eligible fees, less taxes and non-eligible fees [7].
| Booking channel | Fare | Points per dollar |
|---|---|---|
| jetblue.com or the JetBlue app | Main, Main Flex, EvenMore, EvenMore Flex, Mint, Mint Flex | 6 |
| jetblue.com or the JetBlue app | Main Base, EvenMore Base | 2 |
| Phone or other channels | Any JetBlue-operated fare | 3, or 1 on Base fares |
No bonus points are earned when a JetBlue-operated flight is booked by phone or by other means [7]. A member cannot earn points for a flight purchased for another traveller [7].
Partner earning. TrueBlue points can be earned on qualifying flights operated by JetBlue's loyalty partners if the member buys an eligible fare and enters a TrueBlue number when booking online; JetBlue names Cape Air, Etihad Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, Icelandair, Qatar Airways, Silver Airways, Singapore Airlines, Condor, United Airlines and South African Airways [7]. Missing points can be requested for a JetBlue-operated flight within 12 months of that flight, while the window for partner airlines varies by partner [7]. Points usually post within 14 days of completed travel, or up to 30 days for non-air Paisly products [7].
How does elite status work in each programme?
Under Atmos Rewards, the earning choice covers status points as well as points, so the method a member selects changes how both are earned on flights [8].
In TrueBlue, Mosaic refers to the top tiers of the programme, and tiles are the measure used to qualify [6].
| Level | Tiles required | Adds at this level |
|---|---|---|
| Mosaic 1 | 50 | Free checked bag, free same-day switches on most fares, seat selection from 36 hours before departure, Mosaic boarding, priority security, dedicated check-in, 3X points on JetBlue-operated flights |
| Mosaic 2 | 100 | A second free checked bag and EvenMore seat selection at booking |
| Mosaic 3 | 150 | EvenMore selection for four companions at booking, 4 upgrade certificates, 4X points |
| Mosaic 4 | 250 | 4 more Premium Upgrade Certificates, giftable Mosaic 1 status, BlueHouse entry, 5X points |
Qualifying spend in the current year counts toward Mosaic qualification for the following year, so earning enough tiles in a year qualifies the member through the next calendar year [6]. Qualifying spend resets on 1 January [6]. Mosaic members also pick optional perks, among them a pet fee waiver, IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite status, a statement credit on selected JetBlue cards, a 20-tile bonus and a 15,000-point bonus [6].
Which Mosaic benefits extend to companions?
Mosaic 1 includes a free checked bag for the member and eligible travel companions, and Mosaic 2 adds a second free checked bag [6]. Seat benefits scale by level: Mosaic 1 members can take EvenMore seats free of charge for themselves and two companions from 36 hours before departure, Mosaic 2 at the time of booking, and Mosaic 3 for four companions at booking, subject to availability and excluding Main Base fares [6].
Benefits extended to others on the same reservation are available only if the Mosaic member is present at check-in with all travellers and completes every segment with them [6]. A Mosaic 4 member can gift Mosaic 1 status to a TrueBlue member of their choice [6].
How do you redeem TrueBlue points?
Award seats are found by starting a search on jetblue.com or in the app, selecting the "Use TrueBlue points" checkbox and running the search; results show the points needed for a 100% points redemption [5]. Cash plus points is offered on JetBlue-operated flights but not on award bookings operated solely by partner airlines, which require a full points redemption, and a maximum of two forms of payment is allowed on a redemption booking [5].
The points required vary with destination, day of week, season and advance booking window, and are based on the published base fare at the time of booking [5]. As of 18 October 2026, taxes and fees on a domestic award flight are $5.60 one-way and $11.20 round trip; for international award flights they range from $5.60 to $161.50 one-way and $27.60 to $171.60 round trip [5]. Those taxes and fees are the passenger's responsibility, are paid when the award is booked and can change as required by law, while award inventory sits with the operating carrier, is not guaranteed and may be modified at any time [5]. Points that are bought, gifted or transferred at a cost can be used for award redemptions but do not earn tiles [5].
Exceptions and limits
- The Atmos Rewards earning choice applies to flights only, and a change of method covers future trips — travel already completed is unaffected [8].
- No TrueBlue bonus points are earned on JetBlue-operated flights booked by phone or otherwise, and points cannot be earned for a ticket bought for another traveller [7].
- Mosaic benefits are reduced or excluded on Base fares: same-day switches and standby are not available, Main Base and EvenMore Base fares are excluded from complimentary BlueHouse access, and Main Base fares are not eligible for EvenMore upgrades or Preferred Main Seating; weight and size limits and exceptions apply to itineraries with flights marketed or operated by other airlines [6].
- Taxes and fees on award flights vary by departure and destination city and must be paid at the time of booking [5].
