How to earn JetBlue TrueBlue Mosaic status

JetBlue TrueBlue Mosaic is the elite tier family of JetBlue's TrueBlue frequent flyer programme, with four levels — Mosaic 1, Mosaic 2, Mosaic 3 and Mosaic 4 — reached by earning 50, 100, 150 and 250 tiles respectively in a calendar year. [4] Tiles come from qualifying spend, and a level earned in one year holds through the following calendar year. [4]

Key takeaways

  • Mosaic is the elite tier of TrueBlue, with four levels at 50, 100, 150 and 250 tiles. [4]
  • Tiles come from qualifying spend — travel spend, credit card spend, or both — and the balance resets to zero on 1 January. [4]
  • Every Mosaic level includes at least one free checked bag, early boarding and a free drink for the member, even on Base fares, while several seat and lounge perks exclude Main Base fares. [4]
  • Mosaic 3 and Mosaic 4 add Mint or BlueFirst upgrade certificates and higher point multipliers on JetBlue-operated flights, up to 5x points at Mosaic 4. [4]

How do you qualify for JetBlue TrueBlue Mosaic?

JetBlue describes Mosaic as the top tiers of TrueBlue membership, open to the programme's most frequent customers. [4] Members move up by earning tiles, and JetBlue says tiles are earned on qualifying spend, which can be travel spend, credit card spend, or both. [4]

Mosaic levels and tile thresholds [4]
LevelTiles requiredWhat the level adds
Mosaic 150Free checked bag, Mosaic boarding, priority security, dedicated check-in and customer service, 3x points on JetBlue-operated flights [4]
Mosaic 2100A second free checked bag; EvenMore seat selection at booking for the member plus two companions [4]
Mosaic 3150EvenMore seat selection at booking for four companions; four Mint or BlueFirst upgrade certificates; 4x points; enhanced phone service [4]
Mosaic 4250Four more Premium Upgrade Certificates, two extra for each additional 100 tiles; gift Mosaic 1 status; 5x points; BlueHouse entry [4]

Each level includes everything below it, so the Mosaic 4 perk list also contains the Mosaic 1, 2 and 3 benefits. [4] Qualification runs on a calendar-year cycle: all qualifying spend for the current year counts towards Mosaic qualification for the following year, and earning enough tiles in the current year qualifies the member through the following calendar year. [4] Qualifying spend and tile balances both reset on 1 January. [4]

Outside Mosaic, TrueBlue points on JetBlue-operated flights are earned from the fare paid plus eligible fees, less taxes and non-eligible fees, at 3 points per dollar on most fares and 1 point per dollar on Base fares, with extra bonus points for bookings made on jetblue.com or the JetBlue app. [6]

What are the Mosaic Signature Perks?

Mosaic 1 includes a free checked bag for the member and eligible travel companions, one free inflight alcoholic drink for the member aged 21 or over, and free same-day switches on fares other than Base. [4] It also includes free EvenMore seat selection with up to two companions from 36 hours before departure, free extra-legroom or preferred seating, Mosaic boarding, priority security, dedicated check-in and dedicated customer service, 3x points on JetBlue-operated flights, a Heathrow Express upgrade and an Avis status match, all subject to availability where relevant. [4]

Mosaic 2 adds a second free checked bag, for two in total, and moves the EvenMore seat selection forward to the time of booking for the member plus two companions. [4] Mosaic 3 widens that seat selection to four companions, adds four certificates that let the member book a seat in the back and then upgrade to Mint or BlueFirst at no extra charge, includes the enhanced customer service line shared with Mosaic 4, and raises the multiplier to a total of 4x points on JetBlue-operated flights. [4]

Mosaic 4 adds four more Premium Upgrade Certificates plus two additional certificates for every further 100 tiles earned, the ability to gift Mosaic 1 status to a TrueBlue member of the member's choice, a total of 5x points on JetBlue-operated flights, and complimentary BlueHouse entry for the member and an eligible travel companion. [4] A gifted Mosaic 1 status does not include a Perks You Pick selection, a 5,000-point bonus or a JetBlue Vacations bonus. [4]

What are Mosaic Perks You Pick?

Mosaic members also choose from a separate menu of Perks You Pick options that sit alongside the signature perks. [4] The published choices are a pet fee waiver, IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite status, priority access to Mint Suite selection on select aircraft, FoundersCard Blue membership, a one-time statement credit on select JetBlue cards, a 20-tile bonus, a 20-tile boost for another TrueBlue member, and a 15,000-point bonus. [4]

Once selected, the pet fee waiver and Mint Suite priority access apply to every JetBlue flight, subject to availability. [4] Tile bonuses are added to the tile balance immediately for the year in which they were selected, and tiles can only be gifted to another TrueBlue member, never to oneself. [4] The 20-tile bonus and the gifted 20-tile bonus count as two separate perks. [4] The statement credit is open only to Barclays JetBlue Plus World Elite Mastercard and JetBlue Business Mastercard cardmembers, can be selected once per Mosaic qualifying year, and appears two to four weeks after selection. [4]

Exceptions and limits

  • Base fares. Mosaic members and eligible travellers on the same itinerary still get at least one free checked bag, a carry-on bag and early boarding on Base fares, and extra checked-bag benefits vary by level. [4] Base fares are not eligible for free same-day switches or standby, Main Base fares are excluded from EvenMore upgrades and preferred main seating, and Main Base and EvenMore Base bookings get no complimentary BlueHouse access. [4]
  • The free drink. The complimentary alcoholic drink is for the Mosaic member aged 21 or over, is not available on flights with express or no inflight service (flights under 250 miles) or where alcohol is prohibited by law, and must be consumed on board. [4]
  • Companions. Benefits extended to others on the same reservation are available only if the Mosaic member checks in with all those travellers and completes every segment of the itinerary with them; the baggage fee still applies to travellers on a different reservation. [4] Mosaic benefits are not eligible on group bookings. [4]
  • Availability. Priority security may not be available at all airports, the number of certificates needed for an upgrade can vary by flight date and time, and dedicated phone support for Mosaic 3 and Mosaic 4 may not be available during US overnight hours. [4]
  • Other airlines. Weight and size limits, and the exceptions attached to them, apply to itineraries that include flights marketed or operated by other airlines. [4]
  • Points that do not build status. TrueBlue points that are bought, gifted or transferred can be used for award redemptions but do not earn tiles. [5]

Frequently asked questions

How many tiles do you need for each Mosaic level?

Mosaic 1 needs 50 tiles, Mosaic 2 needs 100, Mosaic 3 needs 150 and Mosaic 4 needs 250 tiles. [4]

Does Mosaic status reset at the end of the year?

The tile balance resets to zero on 1 January, and all qualifying spend resets on the same date. [4] Earning enough tiles in the current year qualifies the member through the following calendar year. [4]

Do Mosaic benefits work on Base fares?

Partly: at least one free checked bag, a carry-on bag, early boarding and the member's free drink still apply on Base fares, but free same-day switches and standby do not, and Main Base fares are excluded from EvenMore upgrades and preferred main seating. [4]

Can you share Mosaic benefits with people on your booking?

Some benefits extend to eligible travel companions, but only when the Mosaic member is present at check-in with those travellers and flies every segment with them. [4]

Can you give Mosaic status to someone else?

Mosaic 4 members can gift Mosaic 1 status to a TrueBlue member of their choice, without a Perks You Pick selection, the 5,000-point bonus or the JetBlue Vacations bonus. [4]
