How to use Changi Airport lounges
Changi Airport lounges are the lounges a traveller can use at Singapore Changi Airport. Lounge access is a KrisFlyer Elite Gold benefit covering Star Alliance and KrisFlyer Gold lounges worldwide. [5] [6] [8] The card a member holds does not by itself grant entry.

Key takeaways
- Lounge access appears in the published benefit list for KrisFlyer Elite Gold, described as Star Alliance and KrisFlyer Gold lounges worldwide, while the Elite Silver list covers bonus miles, seat selection, priority check-in and boarding, and extra baggage, with no lounge. [5] [6]
- Elite Gold is earned with 50,000 Elite miles in 12 consecutive months and is valid for 12 months; Elite Silver takes 25,000 Elite miles over the same 12-month window. [5]
- The KrisFlyer terms say the type of credit, charge or debit card a member holds has no bearing on status and does not entitle the member to lounge access or Star Alliance or Singapore Airlines benefits. [8]
- Neither KrisFlyer page checked names a specific Changi lounge or terminal, or sets opening hours, prices or guest allowances. [5] [6]
What Elite Gold includes
KrisFlyer Elite Gold is reached by earning 50,000 Elite miles within 12 consecutive months. Membership runs for 12 months, and a member who earns at least 50,000 Elite miles again during the current membership period renews automatically for a further year. [5] The qualification page describes the tier's airport benefits as access to more than 1,000 lounges worldwide, together with priority check-in and extra baggage. [5] The KrisFlyer programme page lists Star Alliance and KrisFlyer Gold lounge access among the Gold benefits. [6]
Elite miles, which are the qualification unit for both tiers, come from flights on Singapore Airlines, Scoot or other designated airlines, and from everyday spend on Kris+, KrisShop and Pelago at 1 Elite mile per Singapore dollar spent. [5] They serve qualification and renewal only: they cannot be redeemed for award flights, upgrades or tickets. [5]
Non-flight Elite miles are capped at 20% of the requirement, which means up to 5,000 towards Elite Silver and up to 10,000 towards Elite Gold. [5] The KrisFlyer terms set the same upper limits and add that once a member has accrued the cap, further non-flight Elite miles do not count towards upgrade or renewal. [8]
Elite Silver, base membership and cards
KrisFlyer Elite Silver requires 25,000 Elite miles within 12 consecutive months and is valid for 12 months, renewable by earning the same amount again during the current membership period. [5] The benefits published for the tier are a 25% bonus on miles flown, complimentary standard seat selection in Singapore Airlines economy class, priority airport check-in and boarding, and extra baggage allowance. [6] Lounge access is not in that list. [6]
Base KrisFlyer membership is free to join, and its listed benefits, including unlimited inflight Wi-Fi when the membership number is added to the booking before departure, do not include lounge access. [6] The programme terms are explicit that the type of credit, charge or debit card a member holds has no bearing on status within KrisFlyer and does not entitle the member to lounge access or any Star Alliance or Singapore Airlines associated benefits. [8]
Terminals, third-party lounges and prices
This guide is limited to Changi's terminals.
Third-party lounge programmes are covered on separate Flyerfolio pages: Plaza Premium Lounge and Priority Pass.
KrisFlyer's terms note that certain programme and tier benefits and rewards may be subject to their own sets of terms and conditions, specified separately. [8]
Exceptions and limits
- Reaching Elite Silver does not put a lounge in the published benefit list for that tier. [6]
- Non-flight Elite miles count only up to 20% of the requirement, so flights are needed for the rest: 5,000 non-flight miles towards Elite Silver and 10,000 towards Elite Gold. [5]
- Tier upgrades can take up to one day to process, and Elite miles earned before an upgrade do not count towards renewal in the next cycle. [5]
- Elite miles reset to zero at the end of each membership year, a 12-month period that starts on the date of the upgrade or renewal. [8]
- A suspended membership cannot use miles, status credits, benefits or rewards, and a terminated membership forfeits them without compensation. [8]
- KrisFlyer membership is personal and cannot be transferred, sold or bartered; misuse of membership cards and related benefits may lead to suspension or termination of membership, or withdrawal of benefits. [8]
- Singapore Airlines may modify the programme's structures and benefits at its sole discretion and without prior notice. [8]
