What benefits and awards does Marriott Bonvoy list?
The Marriott Bonvoy benefits menu lists Member, Silver Elite, Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite. [6] The programme rules are marked as updated October 2026. [5] Room upgrades can be obtained with points or cash for a better view or larger suite at select hotels and resorts, and awards are applied during booking. [7] Free Night Awards are redeemable at thousands of properties worldwide with varying point values, and Nightly Upgrade Awards are requested after booking and are available to Gold Elite members and above. [7] Lifetime Elite status is Silver, Gold and Platinum status that never expires. [1]
When do you have to request or apply a hotel award?
Timing depends on the award. Marriott Bonvoy room upgrade awards are applied during booking and are available at select hotels and resorts. [7] A Nightly Upgrade Award is requested after the stay has been booked, from the Confirmation or Reservation Details page, and is open to Gold Elite members and above. [7]
Marriott Bonvoy requires Qualifying Activity at least once every 24 months to retain accumulated points, awards and other benefits. Qualifying Activity includes earning or redeeming points or miles, purchasing points, completing a Qualifying Stay, or converting points or miles with designated partners. Gifting, transferring or receiving points from another member does not count. [5]
An award redeemed before points forfeiture remains valid unless it is cancelled after the points expiration date. If it is cancelled after the applicable points expiration date and the member has not completed Qualifying Activity to extend that date, the points used for the award expire. [5]
Account inactivity and forfeiture
If an account has no Qualifying Activity for 24 consecutive months, all accumulated points, awards and other benefits are forfeited and cannot be reinstated. [5] An account that remains inactive for five consecutive years may be deactivated. [5]
