PROGRAMME PROFILE

Garuda Indonesia GarudaMiles

GarudaMiles is Garuda Indonesia's frequent flyer programme. Its award price list is a route-by-route table of one-way mileage prices for economy awards in X class and business awards in O class, alongside mileage prices for upgrading a paid economy fare or an economy award into business class. [4]

Facts checked: 18 October 2026

Key takeaways

  • GarudaMiles award prices are set per one-way route, with separate prices for an economy award in X class and a business award in O class. [4]
  • In the domestic table the lowest economy price is 4,300 miles on Denpasar–Lombok, and the highest, 40,800 miles, applies on Jakarta–Jayapura, Jakarta–Timika and Jakarta–Merauke; the highest domestic business price is 67,100 miles. [4]
  • Taxes, surcharges and other fees are additional, seats are subject to availability, and the published rates can change at peak travel periods. [4]

How awards are priced

Garuda Indonesia publishes award prices as a city-pair table rather than as a distance-based chart, and each row is a one-way journey. [4] On the domestic table, Jakarta–Surabaya is 11,500 miles in economy and 19,000 in business, Jakarta–Denpasar is 17,900 and 32,000, and Jakarta–Jayapura is 40,800 and 67,100. [4]

International rows follow the same pattern: Jakarta–Kuala Lumpur is 12,500 miles in economy and 22,500 in business, Jakarta–Tokyo (Haneda) is 35,000 and 63,000, and Jakarta–Amsterdam rises to 50,000 and 110,000. [4] Some city pairs are priced from more than one Indonesian origin, so Denpasar–Singapore appears at 15,000 miles in economy and 27,000 in business, and Denpasar–Sydney at 30,000 and 54,000. [4]

Because the price list stops at economy and business awards, a reader comparing the cash price of a ticket with the mileage price is comparing two different products: the mileage figure buys an award seat in the stated class, and nothing else in the table converts miles into a cash value. [4]

Upgrades and cabin classes

Two upgrade columns sit beside the award prices. [4] One covers an economy award in X class, or a paid economy fare in a booking subclass below N, moving into business class in O class; the other covers a paid economy fare in a subclass above N moving into business class in O class. [4] The table's notes list the subclasses below N as Q, T, V, S, H, L, G and those above N as Y, W, B, M, K, N, G. [4]

In several rows an upgrade costs fewer miles than the business award in the same row: on Jakarta–Denpasar an upgrade is 14,100 miles from an economy award or a below-N fare and 11,200 miles from an above-N fare, against 32,000 miles for the business award. [4] On Jakarta–Amsterdam the two upgrade prices are 60,000 and 48,000 miles, while the business award in the same row is 110,000 miles. [4] First class redemption and upgrade prices are not in the table; Garuda Indonesia directs members to the FlyGaruda app or its official website for those. [4]

Earning, partners and alliance flying

Vietnam Airlines' Lotusmiles programme publishes earning rates for Garuda-operated flights. [5]

Lotusmiles applies a multiplier by cabin and booking class: first class earns 1.50 on F and A and 1.40 on P; business earns 1.25 on J and C and 1.20 on D and I; premium economy earns 1.00 on W; economy earns 1.00 on Y and B, 0.75 on M, K and N, and 0.25 on Q and T. [5] A second column gives a segment multiplier of 1.00 for first, business and premium economy (F, A, P, J, C, D, I, W) and 0.50 for all economy subclasses listed — Y, B, M, K, N, Q and T. [5] No additional bonus miles are applied according to the member's Lotusmiles card tier on these flights. [5]

For Lotusmiles, a Garuda flight counts only where the ticket carries a GA flight number, whether the flight is operated by Garuda Indonesia or by Vietnam Airlines or another SkyTeam alliance carrier. [5] SkyTeam describes its member airlines as carrying 605 million customers a year on more than 13,800 daily flights to 945 destinations in 145 countries, with 750 lounges, and advises travellers to join a member airline's programme, after which qualifying flights earn miles that can be redeemed for free flights on any member airline. [3] Since both eligibility and the earning multiple turn on the operating carrier and the fare's booking class, the partner table is the part to check before crediting a flight to a programme outside GarudaMiles. [5]

Elite status

The only status-related rule in those sources sits on the partner side: Lotusmiles applies no extra bonus miles by card tier when a member flies a Garuda-operated flight. [5] For the general concept, see elite status.

Exceptions and limits

  • The published rates are one-way rates; the table does not give return or round-trip prices. [4]
  • Redemption and upgrade rates can change at any time, including around Eid holidays, Christmas, New Year and school holidays. [4]
  • Redemption seat availability is subject to airline policy, so a published price does not by itself guarantee a seat. [4]
  • Taxes, surcharges and other fees are paid by the member in the applicable currency, and other terms and conditions apply. [4]
  • On the partner side the multipliers are set per booking class, so two economy tickets on the same Garuda flight can earn different amounts of Lotusmiles miles. [5]
  • The Lotusmiles page counts a Garuda flight only where the ticket carries a GA flight number; flights sold under another airline's number are outside what that page describes. [5]
