How to earn Hilton Honors milestone bonuses

What are Hilton Honors Milestone Bonuses?

Milestone bonuses sit on the earning side of Hilton Honors rather than the redemption side. The programme terms, effective 15 July 2026, carry a topic headed “Accrual of Hilton Honors Milestone Bonus Points”, and the same document counts member Stays and nights for three purposes together: elite tier qualification, Elite Tier Status gifting and milestone bonuses. Because milestone bonuses are Bonus Points, they land in the same Hilton Honors Points balance that members use elsewhere. Hilton describes that balance as spendable on free nights booked with any combination of Points and money, with no blackout dates, and on experiences such as concerts, dining and sporting events. Two framing rules apply throughout. The terms define a calendar year as 1 January to 31 December, and elite qualification is measured across a calendar year, with members required to requalify each year. [3] Hilton also reserves the right to add, modify or delete rules, procedures, conditions, benefits and Rewards at its discretion, with or without notice, even where a change affects the value of Points already accumulated. [3]

Which nights count toward milestone bonuses?

A night counts only when it is part of a qualifying Stay, which the terms define as a night spent at a participating hotel as a registered, paying and staying guest who meets the programme conditions. [3] A Stay itself is the total number of consecutive nights at the same hotel, even if the guest checks out and checks back in again. [3]

Reward Stays are counted. The terms state that Reward Stays count toward the number of overall Stays and nights used for elite tier qualification, Elite Tier Status gifting and milestone bonuses, and Points & Money Rewards Stays also earn Points on the money portion. [3]

Several night types are carved out and do not build toward anything. Ineligible Stays include wholesale and tour operator packages, contracted crew rates, travel agency discount rates, packages reserved for casino player card holders, stays on unauthorised Go Hilton Team Member or Family & Friends rates, timeshare and Hilton Grand Vacations marketing packages, bookings made on third-party websites, and “opaque” channel bookings where the brand is unknown at the time of purchase. [3] Complimentary and barter rooms are excluded too, and a no-show reservation earns nothing even when the credit card is charged. [3]

Where a member books several rooms, Base Points can be earned on up to four rooms per Stay when all Eligible Spend sits on one folio, but Stay and night credit is given for one room only for elite tier purposes. [3]

How do milestone nights differ from elite tier nights?

Elite status and milestone bonuses are separate topics in the same terms. Elite tier status is awarded on Stays, nights or Eligible Spend within a calendar year, and each tier has its own bar. [3] The thresholds published in the terms are:

Diamond Reserve is the exception to the either/or pattern: it needs 40 Stays and US$18,000 of Eligible Spend, or 80 nights and the same spend. When do the Bonus Points post?

Hilton treats Points offered with a specific Stay as earned once the Stay has been completed, fully paid and added to the member’s account, and those Points cannot be redeemed before that sequence finishes. [3] Hilton also reserves the right to review and adjust Eligible Spend or Base Points on any Stay to check accuracy and compliance with the terms. [3]

If credit does not arrive correctly, the member has to submit a request together with a legible copy of the hotel folio, and the request must reach Hilton Reservations and Customer Care within six months of the date of the activity. [3] Inadequate or altered documentation can lead to the claim being denied, and members are advised to keep their travel documents until the credit appears on a Hilton Honors statement. [3]

Exceptions and limits

• Inactive accounts. Members with no eligible activity in any 24 consecutive month period — a participating hotel stay, earning Points through Hilton or a third party such as a co-branded card, buying Points, or donating Points through the Giving Back Program — are subject to forfeiture of all accumulated Points. [3]
• Rooms and rooms again. Earning on several rooms does not multiply night credit: Stay and night credit for elite tier purposes is given for one room only. [3]
• Programme changes. Hilton may change programme rules, benefits and Rewards with or without notice, and if the programme is terminated members get twelve months from the announcement to accumulate Points and redeem a Reward. [3]
• No property right. Accrued Points, Reward certificates and confirmations are not the member’s property and are not transferable, except as the terms specifically allow; duplicate accounts may be cancelled or merged into a single account with one balance and one tier. [3]
