GUIDE
Start here: Wyndham Rewards
Wyndham Rewards is the hotel loyalty programme run by Wyndham Rewards, Inc., an indirect subsidiary of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Inc., in which members earn points on qualified hotel stays and redeem them for free nights, points-plus-cash nights and other rewards. [1] [3] The current programme terms took effect on 30 September 2026 and govern participation worldwide. [3]
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- Members earn points on Qualified Stays at participating Wyndham hotels, and at most properties the points are calculated on the room rate only. [1] [3]
- Free nights start at 7,500 points, and redemption requirements vary by property and can reach 30,000 points per bedroom per night. [1] [3] [4]
- Points expire four years after they are posted, and an account with no activity for about 18 consecutive months can have all of its points cancelled. [3]
What is Wyndham Rewards and how do you join?
Step 1 — know what you are joining. Wyndham Rewards is offered by Wyndham Rewards, Inc., an indirect subsidiary of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Inc., and its terms govern all aspects of participation in the programme worldwide. [3] Wyndham Hotels & Resorts describes a portfolio of 25 brands with more than 9,100 hotels in 95 countries. [4] The terms list the participating hotel chains, among them Days Inn by Wyndham, La Quinta by Wyndham, Ramada by Wyndham, Super 8 by Wyndham and Wingate by Wyndham, and note that the list can change without notice. [3]
Step 2 — join. Membership is free: Wyndham's site invites travellers to join for free at Wyndham Rewards, including during a booking for anyone who is not yet a member. [4] Applicants must have reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence and must supply an email address that is not already used by an existing member, plus a phone number not already registered to a member with the same first and last name. [3] Corporations, groups and other entities cannot enrol, and a member may not hold more than one account or share an account with someone else. [3] Wyndham Rewards Business is a separate programme governed by its own terms. [3]
How do you earn Wyndham Rewards points?
Step 3 — earn on stays, but not on every booking. Points are earned through Qualified Stays at Participating Hotels, Participating Destinations and Participating Caesars Rewards Properties, and on the points-plus-cash Discounted Nights offered at those properties. [3]
A Qualified Stay is one or more consecutive nights at the same participating property, subject to that property's minimum length-of-stay rules, where the nightly rates add up to at least US$25.00. [3] At most hotel chains that total excludes taxes, surcharges and other fees, but at Dolce Hotels and Resorts, Wyndham Grand, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts and Wyndham Garden those charges are included in the total. [3] Checking out and back in to the same property on the same day counts as a single stay. [3]
The booking channel matters as much as the rate. For Participating Hotels, a qualifying stay has to be booked through wyndhamhotels.com/wyndham-rewards, wyndhamhotels.com, the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts app, the Member Services telephone line, the hotel chain's official website or official (800) number, or on site at the hotel. [3] Stays booked on third-party websites and apps, such as Booking.com, Expedia, Priceline, Hotwire, Orbitz or Travelocity, are not Qualified Stays whatever rate is paid. [3] Contract rates, wholesale rates, complimentary nights, free nights redeemed with points and points-plus-cash discounted nights also fall outside the Qualified Stay definition. [3]
At most properties, points are earned on the dollars spent on the room rate only, and Wyndham advertises up to 10 points per US dollar or 1,000 points, whichever is more, for every qualified stay. [1] Members can also earn through experiences, activities, dining and gift cards, and can collect partner travel currency such as airline miles. [1] [3] The terms define a separate category of Accelerated Earning Points for Gold, Platinum and Diamond members on a qualified stay. [3]
How do you use Wyndham Rewards points?
Step 4 — decide how to spend the points. Redemptions fall into free nights, discounted nights with points plus cash, and rewards from partner travel programmes, merchants and service providers. [3] Wyndham's site quotes free nights from 7,500 points and discounted nights from 750 points plus cash. [1]
| Award | Points | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Free night | From 7,500 points, up to 30,000 points per bedroom per night | Quoted per bedroom per night; taxes and resort fees can still apply [1] [3] [4] |
| Discounted night | From 750 points plus cash | The cash portion varies by property and by date [1] |
Redemption requirements are quoted per bedroom per night, and a member must hold enough points for every bedroom in the accommodation they want. [1] Taxes and resort fees may still be charged on a free night and cannot be paid with points. [1] Awards are subject to availability, blackout dates and rates, and other restrictions. [1] Points carry no cash value and cannot be sold, bartered or transferred except where the terms explicitly allow it. [3]
Some properties are redemption-only: at Redemption Cottages, members can redeem points but cannot earn them. [3] Wyndham also stopped accepting points for free nights at Vacasa Vacation Rentals, with the last redemption date being 30 November 2025. [3]
How does status work, and how do you plan a first award stay?
Step 5 — understand the member levels. Wyndham publishes four member levels: Blue, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. [1] The terms give Gold, Platinum and Diamond members their own earning category, Accelerated Earning Points, on a qualified stay. [3] Every member is promised the lowest price when booking on Wyndham's site or app, and free Wi-Fi during the stay. [1] Wyndham separately sells a paid Insider subscription, advertised at a $95 annual fee that renews automatically each year until cancelled. [1]
Step 6 — plan a first award stay. Start with the property: the terms direct members to the Wyndham Rewards website or Member Services to locate a participating hotel. [3] Then check the points required per bedroom per night and confirm you hold enough for every bedroom you need. [1] Budget separately for taxes and resort fees, which points cannot cover. [1] For any paid stay you want to earn on, check that the rate qualifies, because third-party bookings, free nights and points-plus-cash nights do not. [3] Finally, watch the clock on your balance: points expire four years after posting, and about 18 months without account activity can cost you the lot. [3]
Exceptions and programme limits
- Hotels outside the programme. ECHO Suites Extended Stay by Wyndham does not participate, Travelodge properties outside the United States, Canada and Mexico are not affiliated with Wyndham Rewards, Inc. or Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Inc. and do not participate, and Wyndham Concorde Isla Margarita is not a Participating Hotel for earning. [3]
- Where you live. Members whose habitual residence is in China are subject to special terms set out in Section I(29) of the programme terms. [3]
- Expiry and forfeiture. Points expire four years after the date they are posted, unless they are forfeited earlier for inactivity, and all accrued points may be cancelled if a member has no Account Activity for a period of approximately, but never less than, 18 consecutive months. [3] Points earned by a Wyndham Rewards Earner Premier Card cardmember do not expire under that rule while the account is open and in good standing. [3] An account may be terminated after 60 consecutive months without Account Activity, and remaining points are then forfeited. [3]
- Rules can change. The sponsor may modify point values, redemption levels, conversion ratios, member level benefits and earning ratios at any time without notice, and may terminate the programme on six months' notice, after which accrued points are cancelled six months after the announcement. [3]
- Fraud and abuse. Abuse of the programme can lead to account termination, loss of member level benefits and forfeiture of all accrued points and partner currency. [3] Participation is void where prohibited by law. [3]
Frequently asked questions
Do Wyndham Rewards points expire?
Yes. Points expire four years after the date they are posted, and all points can be cancelled after roughly 18 consecutive months without account activity. [3] Points held by a Wyndham Rewards Earner Premier Card cardmember do not expire on that timetable while the account stays open and in good standing. [3]
How many points do you need for a free night?
Free nights start at 7,500 points, and requirements vary by property and can be as high as 30,000 points per bedroom per night. [1] [4] A member must hold enough points for every bedroom booked. [1]
Does a stay booked through a third-party site earn points?
No. Bookings made on third-party websites, apps or digital platforms are not Qualified Stays, whatever rate is paid. [3] Booking through Wyndham's own site, app, phone line or the hotel directly keeps a paid stay eligible. [3]
How do you join Wyndham Rewards?
Joining is free and can be done through Wyndham Rewards, including during a booking. [4] You need to be of the age of majority where you live and to give a unique email address and phone number, and only one account per person is allowed. [3]
What are the Wyndham Rewards member levels?
The programme publishes Blue, Gold, Platinum and Diamond levels. [1] Gold, Platinum and Diamond members have a separate Accelerated Earning Points category on qualified stays. [3]
