PROGRAMME PROFILE
Aerolíneas Plus: tiers, miles and SkyTeam partners
Aerolíneas Plus is the free frequent flyer programme of Aerolíneas Argentinas, a SkyTeam carrier, in which members collect Millas that can be spent on award tickets flown by the airline and its partner carriers. [2] [5] It has four tiers — Clásico, Oro, Platino and Diamante — and a balance expires three years after the last qualifying air movement on the account. [2]
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- Joining is free, each Aerolíneas Plus number belongs to one person, and there are four tiers: Clásico, Oro, Platino and Diamante. [2]
- Miles come from the member's own flights in eligible booking classes and from associated companies, while award tickets and several discount, charter and infant fares earn nothing. [2]
- The whole balance expires after three years without an air movement, and bank or partner-company credits, bought miles and transferred miles do not extend that date. [2]
- Miles can be spent only on flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas and/or airlines associated with the programme, subject to award availability. [2]
What is Aerolíneas Plus and who can join?
Aerolíneas Plus is a free loyalty programme in which members collect Millas that can be exchanged for award tickets on airlines taking part in the programme, or for products and services from associated companies. [2] It applies wherever Aerolíneas Argentinas and the airlines of the SkyTeam alliance and other partners operate. [2]
Anyone aged over two can hold an account, and each Aerolíneas Plus number belongs to a single person with a single email address; accounts held by minors are administered by their parents or guardians. [2] The card is digital, carries an eight-digit Aerolíneas Plus number and can be stored on a mobile device or printed from the account area, and it is personal and non-transferable. [2]
Air Europa, which describes Aerolíneas Argentinas as a SkyTeam partner since 2012, says the airline was founded in 1950 and flies to 20 international destinations in the Americas, Europe and the South Pacific, plus 38 flights within Argentina, from bases at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery and Ezeiza in Buenos Aires. [5]
What are the Aerolíneas Plus tiers?
The programme has four tiers in ascending order of preference and benefits. [2] Access depends on meeting the requirements published under Categorías Elite, and only members over 12 can hold Oro, Platino or Diamante. [2]
| Tier | Validity | Eligibility |
|---|---|---|
| Clásico | Unlimited | Members aged over 2 |
| Oro | Expires; renewed against Elite requirements | Members over 12 |
| Platino | Expires; renewed against Elite requirements | Members over 12 |
| Diamante | Expires; renewed against Elite requirements | Members over 12 |
Tier assessment and account renewals run monthly; once every condition for a higher tier is met, the member moves up automatically and stays there for one year, and a member who fails the renewal requirements drops down. [2] A change of tier does not affect the redeemable mileage balance. [2] Miles collected from associated companies and airlines do not count towards an Elite tier unless expressly stated otherwise, and neither do award tickets or other tickets that do not qualify for mileage accrual, such as courtesy, reduced-fare, charter, travel-industry, government and infant tickets. [2]
How do you earn Aerolíneas Plus miles?
Miles are credited for the member's own flights, in the booking classes enabled for accrual, on any airline taking part in the programme, and for purchases from associated companies; minors earn the same as adults. [2] Flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas in the 30 days before a member joins can be credited, but flights on SkyTeam and other partner airlines count only if they are taken after enrolment, and a flight can be credited to only one frequent flyer programme. [2]
The amount earned follows a base table built from origin and destination and the fare class paid, using the table in force on the flight date; Aerolíneas Argentinas may change that table and says it will publish the change and its effective date on its website. [2] Missing credit can be claimed from 7 days up to 6 months after the flight, and nothing is credited once more than 6 months have passed. [2] Several fares earn nothing: class A and R on domestic routes from 3 May 2021; class G from 29 January 2019 to and from Bogotá and Punta Cana, from 6 February 2019 on domestic routes, from 11 February 2019 on regional routes and Cancún, and from 18 February 2019 on international routes; award tickets; and courtesy, reduced-fare, charter, travel-industry discount, government and infant tickets. [2]
Partner programmes apply their own rates to Aerolíneas Argentinas flights. SAS EuroBonus members earn Bonus points and Level points on Aerolíneas Argentinas-marketed flights by travel class, booking class and distance flown, and booking classes not listed earn nothing. [4] EuroBonus adds a level bonus of 25% for Silver, 50% for Gold and 75% for Diamond on Bonus points, and does not award points on SkyTeam-marketed flights operated by airlines outside SkyTeam. [4]
| Travel class | Booking class | Distance multiplier | Booking class multiplier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business | J, C | 150% | 50% |
| Premium Economy | D, I, W, S | 125% | 25% |
| Economy | Y, B | 100% | 0% |
| Economy | M, U, K, H, L, Q | 50% | 0% |
| Economy | T, E, V, N | 25% | 0% |
Air Europa SUMA credits 100% of base miles in classes J, C, D, I, W and S with a 25% bonus, 100% in Y, B, M, U, K, H, L and Q, 50% in T, E, N, V and G and in A and R on international flights only, and 0% in O, F, Z, X and P; base miles are the miles actually flown. [5] SUMA then adds a tier bonus of 50% for Silver, 75% for Gold and 100% for Platinum on the base miles only. [5] Vietnam Airlines Lotusmiles credits 1.25 miles and 1.00 qualifying segments for J, C, D, I, W and S; 1.00 and 0.50 for Y, B, M, U, K, H, L and Q; 0.25 and 0.50 for T, E, N and V; and 0.00 for O, F, Z, P, X, A, R and G, with the 0.25 and 0.00 coefficients marked as applying from 1 October 2025. [3] Lotusmiles counts flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas with an AR flight number on the ticket, or flights operated by Vietnam Airlines or another SkyTeam carrier that carry an AR flight number. [3]
How do you spend Aerolíneas Plus miles?
Miles can be redeemed for award tickets on airlines taking part in the programme or for services from companies that offer mileage redemption and are associated with the programme when the award is used. [2] Members may use their miles only on flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas and/or airlines associated with the programme, and only the account holder can spend them, for themselves or for a traveller named in the booking. [2]
Award tickets can be issued in Promocional class, available on domestic routes from 1 October 2024, and in Turista, Premium Economy, Economy+ and/or Business, with classes combined across segments of one ticket; each segment then follows its own class conditions for changes and refunds, except tickets issued before 1 August 2023, where the most restrictive class governs the whole ticket. [2] Redemption requires enough miles and award availability, which varies with route, season, class, cabin capacity and expected load factor. [2]
The mileage price is calculated from origin and destination and is the same for adults and for children aged 2 to 12, while infants under 2 pay 10% of it. [2] On domestic flights an infant ticket is issued with no mileage deduction and no taxes, whereas on regional and international flights infants use 10% of the adult's class mileage and pay the applicable taxes. [2] Airport, migration and security charges on award tickets fall to the member and are paid at issue, except charges collected only at the airport or country of departure. [2] Award tickets are valid for one year from issue, and a reissued award runs one year from the new issue date. [2] Changes carry a reissue fee, including for upgrades, with an exception for Platino and Diamante members using the adelanto and postergación benefit; route changes are not allowed and no partial refunds are made. [2] A mileage upgrade reaches Premium Economy or Business but not Economy+, and requires a paid Economy ticket in the FLEX fare family on Aerolíneas Argentinas-operated and -marketed flights, requested between 15 days and 96 working hours before departure. [2] Partner programmes set their own award prices: Air Europa SUMA prices Aerolíneas Argentinas awards by distance band, from 6,000 SUMA miles in Turista and 12,000 in Business on flights of 0–600 miles up to 48,000 and 95,000 respectively above 3,500 miles. [5]
Exceptions and limits
- Expiry. The whole balance expires when three years pass with no air movement, counted from the last credit of miles from flown paid tickets or from the issue of an award or upgrade ticket paid with miles. [2] An air movement is an award or upgrade ticket issued before the expiry date, or a credit for paid tickets in valid fares flown on Aerolíneas Argentinas or SkyTeam airlines with a travel date before the expiry date, and zero-earning fare classes recorded on the account also renew the balance. [2] Each air movement pushes the expiry date three years forward, while monthly bank or associated-company credits, air credits from associated airlines, and bought or transferred miles do not extend it. [2] Three years without an air movement leaves the account with a zero balance. [2]
- Death of the member. The miles in the account expire automatically. [2]
- Misuse. Aerolíneas Argentinas may suspend or close an account and annul accumulated miles for misuse, including commercial trading, buying or transferring miles for profit and fraudulent crediting, and aerolineas.com.ar is the only authorised site for buying or transferring miles. [2]
- Buying miles. Only members over 18 may buy, through the website, once a first mileage credit is registered; the minimum is 1,000 miles for a fee plus VAT in multiples of ten, and bought miles count neither for Elite tiers nor for changing the expiry date. [2]
- Transferring miles. Transfers run through the website for members over 18 at a minimum of 1,000 miles for a fee plus VAT in multiples of ten, are non-refundable, and count neither for Elite tiers nor for extending expiry in either account. [2]
- Value. Miles and award tickets have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for money. [2]
Frequently asked questions
Do Aerolíneas Plus miles expire?
Yes. The balance expires after three years without an air movement, and each new air movement restarts the three-year clock. [2] Bank, associated-company and associated-airline credits, bought miles and transferred miles do not extend the date. [2]
Can you buy Aerolíneas Plus miles?
Members over 18 can buy miles on the programme website once they have registered a first mileage credit, with a minimum of 1,000 miles for a fee plus VAT in multiples of ten. [2] Bought miles do not count towards Elite tiers and do not change the expiry date. [2]
Which airlines can Aerolíneas Plus miles be used on?
Only on flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas and/or airlines associated with the programme, and always subject to award availability. [2]
Do partner flights count towards Aerolíneas Plus status?
Miles accumulated with associated companies and airlines do not count towards an Elite tier unless expressly stated otherwise, and neither do award tickets or other non-qualifying tickets. [2]
