New to Aerolíneas Plus? Aerolíneas Plus: tiers, miles and SkyTeam partners
PROGRAMME PROFILE
Aerolíneas Plus: the Aerolíneas Argentinas programme
Aerolíneas Plus is the free frequent flyer programme of Aerolíneas Argentinas, in which members collect Millas (miles) that can be redeemed for award tickets on the airlines taking part or for products and services from associated companies. [3] Membership is organised into four categories — Clásico, Oro, Platino and Diamante — with each account's category reviewed every month. [3]
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- Aerolíneas Plus is free to join and open to anyone over two years old; members aged between 2 and 18 have their accounts administered by a parent or guardian. [3]
- Miles are earned on eligible flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas and by participating SkyTeam and other associated airlines, and from the products and services of partner companies. [3]
- Only qualifying flights and tickets count towards the elite categories; miles from partner companies and flights taken on award tickets do not. [3]
- The whole mile balance expires after three years without an “air movement”, and bank, partner, purchased or transferred miles do not restart that clock. [3]
What is Aerolíneas Plus and who can join?
Aerolíneas Plus is a free loyalty programme run by Aerolíneas Argentinas: members collect miles and exchange them for award tickets on the airlines that participate in the programme, or for services and products supplied by associated companies. [3] Any individual over two years old can hold an account, which is personal and carries a single email address; for a member between 2 and 18, the account is administered by parents or guardians. [3]
Membership cards are digital. The Clásico card has unlimited validity, while the Oro, Platino and Diamante cards carry an expiry date and are renewed according to requirements published in the programme's Elite Categories rules. [3] The programme applies wherever Aerolíneas Argentinas, SkyTeam airlines and other associated carriers operate flights, and those partner airlines may change the miles awarded or add restrictions on earning and on awards at their own discretion, publishing the details in advance. [3] General definitions of frequent flyer terminology are collected in the glossary.
How do you earn Aerolíneas Plus miles?
Miles are credited for flights the member has actually flown, in booking classes enabled for accrual, on any airline participating in the programme, and also for buying products or using services from associated companies. [3] Members under 18 earn the same number of miles as an adult. [3] The amount for a flight comes from the basic earning table in force on the date of that flight, based on origin and destination and on the class paid; Aerolíneas Argentinas may amend the table and announces changes with their effective date on its website. [3]
Flights flown up to 30 days before joining count if they were operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas; for SkyTeam and other associated airlines, only flights taken after joining are counted. [3] Miles can be credited to only one frequent flyer programme; if simultaneous crediting of the same flight in more than one programme is proven, the conditions state that clause 12 applies (withdrawal from Aerolíneas Plus). [3] If miles are missing, the member can request credit from 7 calendar days up to 6 months after the flight, and no credit is given once more than 6 months have passed; for hotel, car rental and other partner transactions the claim window is 3 months from the date the service was provided. [3] Aerolíneas Argentinas also reserves the right to limit or withhold miles on particular days, routes, dates, periods, classes and fares. [3]
| Ticket | Detail |
|---|---|
| Award tickets | Tickets issued by redeeming miles [3] |
| Class A and R | Domestic tickets issued from 3 May 2021 [3] |
| Class G | From 29 January 2019 to and from Bogotá and Punta Cana, 6 February 2019 on domestic routes, 11 February 2019 on regional routes and Cancún, and 18 February 2019 on international routes [3] |
| Other non-qualifying tickets | Courtesy, reduced-fare, charter, travel-industry discount, government and infant (under 2) tickets, and other special tickets in force [3] |
What are the Aerolíneas Plus elite categories?
There are four categories in ascending order of preference and benefits. [3]
| Category | What the programme terms state |
|---|---|
| Clásico | Entry category; the card has unlimited validity [3] |
| Oro | Elite category, open only to members older than 12 [3] |
| Platino | Elite category; members do not pay the reissue fee when using the advance and postponement benefit [3] |
| Diamante | Highest of the four categories; the same reissue-fee exception applies [3] |
The thresholds for reaching or renewing each elite category are published in the programme's Elite Categories rules, and only members older than 12 can hold Oro, Platino or Diamante. [3] Categories are evaluated and renewed monthly: once every condition is met the member moves up automatically and stays in the new category for one year, while failing the renewal requirements means an automatic downgrade. [3] Miles collected with associated companies and partner airlines are not counted towards an elite category, and neither are flights taken on award tickets or on any other ticket that does not qualify for miles. [3] A change of category does not affect the balance of miles available for redemption. [3]
How do you redeem miles for flights?
Award tickets can be booked online, through the virtual assistant or through the contact centre, subject to enough miles in the account and to award seat availability by route, season, class and cabin capacity. [3] Awards can be issued in Promocional class (domestic routes only, from 1 October 2024), Turista, Premium Economy, Economy+ and Business, and the classes can be combined across segments of the same ticket; each segment then follows the conditions of its own class for refunds and date changes, except tickets issued before 1 August 2023, where the most restrictive class governs the whole ticket. [3]
The miles required are calculated from origin and destination, and the same amount applies to adults and to children aged 2 to 12; infants under 2 pay 10%. [3] On domestic flights an infant's award ticket is issued with no miles deducted and no taxes, while on regional and international flights infants use 10% of the miles of the accompanying adult's class and pay the taxes for the route. [3] Airport, immigration, security and other charges on award tickets are paid by the member when the award is issued, except those collected only at the airport or country of departure. [3]
Award tickets are non-endorsable, even when Aerolíneas Argentinas cancels the flight, and cannot be moved to another airline, although the airline will make its best efforts to rebook the passenger on the next flight on the same route. [3] Changes carry a reissue fee, including changes made to use an upgrade, with the only exception being Platino and Diamante members using the advance and postponement benefit; route changes are not permitted, and Promocional class has a change penalty and cannot be refunded. [3] No partial refunds are made, refunds can be requested up to one year after issuance, tickets are valid for one year from issuance, and issuance and reissue fees are not returned. [3] Miles can also be used for upgrades to Premium Economy or Business, but not Economy+, and the upgrade requires a purchased Economy ticket in the FLEX fare family (code EF) on flights operated and marketed by Aerolíneas Argentinas with ticket numbers beginning 044, requested between 15 calendar days and 96 business hours before departure. [3]
When do Aerolíneas Plus miles expire?
The total accumulated balance expires when three years pass from the last credit of miles from paid tickets that were flown, or from the issue of an award ticket or an upgrade paid with miles, without any air movement being recorded on the account. [3] An air movement means issuing an award ticket or a miles upgrade, both arranged before the expiry date, or crediting miles for paid tickets on valid fares flown with Aerolíneas Argentinas or SkyTeam airlines with a travel date before the expiry date. [3]
Each air movement pushes the expiry date back by three years, and tickets in zero-mile fare classes that are registered on the account also renew the validity of the accumulated balance. [3] Monthly credits from banks or associated companies, air credits from associated airlines, and the purchase or transfer of miles do not extend the expiry date; if they are unused at that date they expire together with the whole balance. [3] Where an inactive account with a zero balance is reactivated by a credit from a bank or associated company, those miles are valid for three years from the date of that credit. [3] After three years without an air movement the account automatically drops to a zero balance. [3] The expiry mechanics that apply across programmes are set out under mileage expiry.
Exceptions and limits
- Buying miles. Miles can be bought only on the Aerolíneas Argentinas website, by members over 18, once the member has a first credit of miles from flights or from partner purchases; the minimum is 1,000 miles plus IVA, in multiples of ten. [3]
- Transferring miles. Transfers also run through the website only, for members over 18, with a minimum of 1,000 miles plus IVA in multiples of ten; completed transfers are not refundable or reversible. [3] Purchased and transferred miles are not counted for elite categories and do not change the expiry date of the account's miles. [3]
- No cash value. Miles and award tickets have no monetary value, and selling, buying, brokering, reselling or exchanging them is prohibited; Aerolíneas Argentinas may block or close an account and cancel its miles for misuse, including fraudulent crediting. [3]
- Who can redeem. Only the account holder can use the miles, for themselves or for anyone whose details are entered during booking, and no awards are issued to members with outstanding debt or litigation pending with the airline. [3]
- End of membership. Miles expire automatically when the holder dies, and if the programme is cancelled the airline gives six months' notice during which members can use their miles. [3]
Frequently asked questions
How long do Aerolíneas Plus miles last?
Three years from the last qualifying air movement, such as a flight on a paid ticket or the issue of an award ticket, and every new air movement restarts the three-year period. [3] Bank, partner, purchased and transferred miles do not extend it. [3]
Do SkyTeam flights earn Aerolíneas Plus miles?
Yes, on flights operated by participating SkyTeam and other associated airlines in classes enabled for accrual, but only flights taken after joining the programme count. [3] Those airlines may change the miles awarded or impose their own restrictions. [3]
Can you buy Aerolíneas Plus miles?
Yes, through the airline's website, if you are over 18 and have already received a first credit of miles. [3] The minimum purchase is 1,000 miles plus IVA, and bought miles neither help with elite categories nor extend expiry. [3]
Do award flights count towards elite status?
No. Flights taken on award tickets, and on other tickets that do not qualify for miles, are not counted when the programme evaluates a category. [3]
