How to earn Wyndham Rewards points
Wyndham Rewards is the hotel loyalty program of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, and its points are earned mainly through a qualified stay at a participating property: the program advertises up to 10 points per dollar spent on the room rate, or 1,000 points, whichever is more, for each qualified stay. Key takeaways
- A qualified stay needs one or more consecutive nights at the same participating property, a room-rate total of at least US$25.00, and a booking made through one of the channels the terms list. [1]
- Bookings made on third-party websites or apps never count, whatever rate was paid; the terms name Expedia, Booking.com, Priceline, Hotwire, Orbitz and Travelocity among the excluded sites. [1]
- Free nights, other non-revenue nights, contract rates and wholesale rates are not qualified stays. [1]
- Points post with a four-year life, and all accrued points may be forfeited after roughly 18 months without account activity. [1]
What counts as a qualified stay for earning points?
Wyndham Rewards judges a stay by three things at once: the property, the money spent on the room rate, and the place the booking was made. The property must be a Participating Hotel, a Participating Destination or a Participating Caesars Rewards Property, and the terms say that points can only be earned for a stay at a property that qualifies. [1]
On money, the nightly rates for the stay added together must reach at least US$25.00, which the terms call the Minimum Total Rate. For most hotel chains that total excludes taxes, surcharges and other charges and fees, but for Dolce Hotels and Resorts, Wyndham Grand, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts and Wyndham Garden those amounts are included in the total. [1]
On channel, a stay at a Participating Hotel must be booked on wyndhamhotels.com/wyndham-rewards, wyndhamhotels.com, the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts app, the member services telephone number, the official brand website or official (800) number of that hotel chain, or on property. At Participating Destinations and Participating Caesars Rewards Properties the booking must be made on wyndhamrewards.com, wyndhamhotels.com, the Wyndham Rewards app or member services, and any online booking must sit on a website address that includes “www.wyndhamhotels.com”. [1]
Three smaller conditions sit alongside those. A member must give their membership number during the reservation at Participating Destinations and Participating Caesars Rewards Properties; a WaterWalk Extended Stay by Wyndham stay must be in a furnished suite; and checking out and back in to the same property on the same day counts as a single stay. [1] Some stays booked through independent travel agents may also qualify even though they are not booked through the channels above, and the terms ask members to confirm with the agent before booking. [1]
| Booking | Qualified stay? | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Direct with Wyndham: wyndhamhotels.com, the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts app, member services, the chain's own site or (800) number, or on property | Yes | Room-rate total of at least US$25.00 plus the other rules above [1] |
| Third-party websites or apps, including Expedia, Booking.com, Priceline, Hotwire, Orbitz and Travelocity | No | Excluded whatever the rate paid [1] |
| Free nights and other non-revenue nights | No | Excluded even where resort fees, food and beverage or extra-guest fees are charged [1] |
| Contract rates, wholesale allotment and wholesale discount rates | No | Excluded by rate type [1] |
How many Wyndham Rewards points does a stay earn?
Wyndham's site states that members earn up to 10 points per dollar or 1,000 points, whichever is more, for every qualified stay, and a footnote adds that at most properties where points can be earned they are earned on dollars spent on the room rate only. [2] The same footnote warns that a property should be checked in advance, because earning stays carry restrictions that include the ban on third-party bookings. [2]
The program terms sort stay earnings into four labels, which the terms say exist to distinguish how points were earned rather than to create different value or restrictions on use. [1]
| Point type | How it is earned |
|---|---|
| Base Points | On a qualified stay, or on points-and-cash discounted nights, at the ratio in the Section II(B)(5) chart [1] |
| Additional Points | Added to a stay's earnings so that the stay yields at least 1,000 points, under Section II(B)(7) [1] |
| Accelerated Earning Points | Earned by Gold, Platinum and Diamond members on a qualified stay, under Section II(B)(6) [1] |
| Promotional Points | From limited-time offers, promotions or special rates [1] |
Promotions change often. As of 18 October 2026 the site advertised a limited-time 4X points offer on multiple stays, capped at 15,000 points in total, with bookings by January 15 and a completed qualified stay by January 19, 2027. [3] The terms also let the sponsor change earning methods and ratios at any time without notice, so a rate quoted today is not a standing promise. [1]
Do credit cards and partners earn Wyndham Rewards points?
Yes. Card spending and partner activity sit alongside stays as earning routes, though the terms defer the detail of partner earning to the program's own partner pages. [1] [2]
Co-brand credit cards. As of 18 October 2026 the site advertised a limited-time offer of up to 120,000 bonus points with the new Wyndham Rewards Earner® cards, with terms and conditions applying. [2] A separate offer advertised up to 100,000 bonus points on the Wyndham Rewards Earner® Plus Card plus up to 6 points per $1 spent on eligible purchases. [3] The Wyndham Rewards® Debit Card was advertised as earning unlimited points on eligible purchases, with 2,500 bonus points after setting up direct deposit and spending $100 in the first 90 days. [3] Points earned by a Wyndham Rewards Earner® Premier Cardmember do not expire under the expiration section while that member's account is open and in good standing. [1]
Partner travel programs. The terms allow members to earn Wyndham Rewards points or similar currency in participating partner travel programs, a category the terms describe as including airline miles and rail points, and point members to the Wyndham Rewards Travel Partner Currency page for the details. [1] The site also lists experiences, activities, dining and gift cards as things members earn and redeem on, and travel bundles as a way to earn points on a whole hotel-plus-flight package. [2] [3] Note that the terms state they do not apply to the Wyndham Rewards® Business program except where specifically incorporated. [1]
Exceptions and limits on earning points
- Brands and properties that sit outside the program. ECHO Suites® Extended Stay by Wyndham Hotels do not participate in Wyndham Rewards, and Wyndham Concorde Isla Margarita is not a Participating Hotel and does not allow earning of points or Travel Partner Currency. [1] Travelodge properties outside the United States, Canada and Mexico are not affiliated with Wyndham Rewards and do not participate. [1] Hotels co-branded with Trademark Collection by Wyndham and Caesars are treated as Participating Caesars Rewards Properties rather than Participating Hotels. [1] Redemption-only destinations can be booked with points but do not allow earning. [1]
- Stays that earn nothing. Contract rates such as airline crew rates, wholesale rates, free nights, the points-and-cash nights described in Sections III(G-1) through (I) and all third-party bookings are not qualified stays, and non-qualified stays do not earn points unless the terms specifically provide otherwise for points-and-cash nights. [1]
- Membership conditions. A member must have reached the age of majority where they live, join with a unique email address and a phone number not already shared with an existing member of the same name, and keep a single, unshared account. [1] Members whose habitual residence is in China are subject to the special terms in Section I(29). [1]
- Points can disappear. Points expire four years after the date they are posted, unless forfeited earlier; all accrued points may be canceled or forfeited after approximately, but never less than, 18 consecutive months without account activity, and an account may be terminated after 60 consecutive months without it. [1] Points have no cash value and cannot be sold, bartered or transferred except as the terms authorize. [1]
- Leaving the program or changing it. The sponsor may modify earning methods and ratios without notice and may terminate the program on six months' notice, with accrued points canceled six months after termination is announced. [1]
