How miles are earned

The travel card page groups the consumer miles products into four listings. VentureOne Rewards for Good Credit and VentureOne Rewards both carry a $0 annual fee and earn 1.25X miles on every purchase, while Venture Rewards carries a $95 annual fee and Venture X Rewards a $395 annual fee, each earning 2X miles on every purchase. [1] The Venture and Venture X pages both show a purchase rate of 19.74%–28.74% variable APR. [2] [3]

Travel bookings made inside Capital One Travel earn above the base rate, but the tiering differs by card. Venture earns 5X miles on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, on top of 2X miles on every other purchase. [2] Venture X earns 10X miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel and 5X miles on flights and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Travel, with 2X miles on all other purchases. [3] Both cards also earn 5X miles on Capital One Entertainment purchases, limited to tickets bought on the Capital One Entertainment ticketing platform with an eligible card; tickets bought directly through the Capital One Hall or Capital One Arena ticketing services are excluded, and rewards are reclaimed if an eligible purchase is cancelled or returned. New-card bonuses are advertised per product. VentureOne Rewards offers 20,000 bonus miles after $500 of purchases in the first three months, Venture and Venture X each offer 75,000 bonus miles after $4,000 of purchases in the first three months, and Venture X adds 10,000 bonus miles after each anniversary, starting with the first. [1] Qualifying bonuses are applied to the rewards balance within two billing cycles. [1] Venture X cardholders can also earn up to 100,000 bonus miles through referrals when the people they refer are approved. [3]

Transferring miles

Capital One describes transfers to "15+ travel loyalty programs" as an alternative to redeeming miles directly. [2] [3] Before relying on a transfer, see the transfer ratio and transfer points checklist pages.

Once a transfer is final, the receiving loyalty programme's terms apply, including the expiry and the value of the transferred rewards. [2] [3] That makes the receiving programme's rules, rather than Capital One's, the ones that decide what the transferred miles are worth and how long they last.

Redeeming miles

The Venture card page lists redemption for travel booked through Capital One Travel, reimbursement of recent travel purchases made with the card, cash back as a statement credit or a check, gift cards, experiences, purchases at Amazon.com, and eligible purchases at online stores through PayPal. [2] Redemption rates for these options may vary and are subject to change, and statement credits lower the account balance but cannot be used to meet minimum payment obligations. Capital One states that miles do not expire for the life of the account and that travel can be booked with no blackout dates, with no seat restrictions described on the Venture page. [2] The Venture X page repeats that miles do not expire for the life of the account and that there are no blackout dates. [3]

Exceptions and limits

• Bonus eligibility. The VentureOne bonus is not available to applicants who received a new cardmember bonus for VentureOne, Venture or Venture X in the past 48 months; the Venture bonus excludes anyone who received a Venture or Venture X new cardmember bonus in the past 48 months, and the Venture X bonus excludes anyone who received a Venture X new cardmember bonus in the past 48 months. • Travel credits. The $300 Venture stays credit is described as a limited-time offer, expires one year after account opening, cannot be combined with rewards earning, and requires the account to be open and in good standing. [1] [2] The $300 annual Venture X travel credit expires on the next account open date anniversary and likewise requires an open account in good standing. [1]
• Lounge access. Venture X primary cardholders get access to Capital One Lounge and Landing locations and to 1,300+ participating Priority Pass lounges, but access is not guaranteed, is subject to space availability, and Priority Pass access requires enrolment. [3] [1]
• Expedited screening credit. The up to $120 Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit is processed once per account every four years, requires the application fee to be paid with an eligible Capital One card, and is reversed if the purchase is returned, refunded, cancelled or modified. [2]
• Product-by-product variation. Earn rates, annual fees, credits and benefits described here apply to the specific cards named; Capital One states that some cardholder benefits are available only to the primary cardholder and not to authorized users. [2]
