How to earn TAP Miles&Go status
TAP Miles&Go is the frequent flyer programme of TAP Air Portugal, with four status levels: base TAP Miles&Go, TAP Miles&Go Silver, TAP Miles&Go Gold and Navigator. [2] Status is earned with Status Miles or a set number of TAP flights in a member's annual Status Miles period, and each tier brings airport and travel benefits on TAP. [2]
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- TAP Miles&Go has four tiers: base, Silver, Gold and Navigator. [2]
- Only Status Miles count toward tier status; Bonus Miles are the miles used for awards and other redemptions. [2]
- Star Alliance flights earn Status and Bonus Miles, while other TAP Miles&Go partner airlines earn only Bonus Miles. [2] [3]
- Benefits are applied according to the status valid at the time of travel, not the status held when the booking was made. [2]
How do TAP Miles&Go tiers and qualification periods work?
TAP Miles&Go starts at the base level, which is assigned on enrolment, and moves up through Silver, Gold and Navigator. [2] Each member has an annual Status Miles period, tied to the date they joined, to qualify for a higher tier or requalify their current one. [2] For example, TAP says that joining on 15 January 2025 gives a period ending on 31 January 2026, with the next period starting on 1 February 2026. [2]
| Tier | To earn | To keep |
|---|---|---|
| Silver | 30,000 Status Miles or 25 TAP flights | 20,000 Status Miles or 15 TAP flights |
| Gold | 70,000 Status Miles or 50 TAP flights | 50,000 Status Miles or 40 TAP flights |
| Navigator | 125,000 Status Miles or 70 TAP flights; either way, 10 flights must be in Plus, Prime, Top Prime, Executive or Top Executive fares, with upgrade flights excluded | 100,000 Status Miles or 70 TAP flights; either way, 10 flights must be in Plus, Prime, Top Prime, Executive or Top Executive fares, with upgrade flights excluded |
Status is awarded automatically once the required Status Miles have been credited. [2] The account statement shows both Status Miles and Bonus Miles. [2]
How do you earn and keep TAP Miles&Go status?
Status Miles can be earned on TAP flights and on flights in the Star Alliance network; some partnerships, products or campaigns may also allow them. [2] On other TAP Miles&Go partner airlines, only Bonus Miles are credited. [2] [3] Only Status Miles count toward Silver, Gold and Navigator. [2]
When flying TAP, Silver members earn an extra 25% Bonus Miles and 25% Status Miles relative to the miles flown; Gold and Navigator members earn 50% in each category. [2] Only Bonus Miles can be used for award tickets, products and partner redemptions. [2]
To keep a tier, a member must meet the lower requalification threshold during the Status Miles period. [2] For example, Gold requires 70,000 Status Miles or 50 TAP flights to earn, but 50,000 Status Miles or 40 TAP flights to keep. [2]
What benefits do TAP Miles&Go Silver, Gold and Navigator include?
TAP lists flight benefits including seat reservation, priority check-in, premium boarding, extra baggage, Fast Track, lounge access and Last Minute Upgrade. [2] The exact mix depends on status and on the origin and destination of the trip. [2] Benefits are applied according to the status valid at the time of travel, not the status held when the booking was made. [2] Members need to add their TAP Miles&Go number to the booking to have the status benefits recognised. [2]
Gold and Navigator members can nominate one person to share Gold status. [2] The nominee must already be a base or Silver member, and receives Gold benefits except that they cannot nominate another Gold partner and do not receive automatic Bonus Miles extension. [2] The nominee's card is valid for the same period as the sponsoring member's Gold or Navigator card. [2]
A member who reaches Gold can request a physical card without an extra fee during the first 30 days; after that, and on renewal, a fee applies. [2] A Gold member who renews also has miles that were due to expire at the end of the Status Miles year extended by 12 months, except Gold Partner members. [2]
What are the exceptions to the rules?
- Navigator has a fare condition: 10 flights must be in Plus, Prime, Top Prime, Executive or Top Executive fares, whether the member qualifies by Status Miles or by flight count, and flights from upgrades are not counted. [2]
- Gold status that comes from nomination, a Gold Partner, a Gold Corporate arrangement or a campaign renews with 70,000 Status Miles or 50 TAP flight segments. [2]
- On other partner airlines, only Bonus Miles are credited, so those flights do not move a member toward tier status; some separate partnerships, products or campaigns may still allow Status Miles. [2] [3]
- TAP may change, add or cancel individual benefits with reasonable notice. [2]
